I am a 100% disabled veteran and I need a reliable vehicle. Please advise me of my options related to my safety recall. I received a safety recall notice 19s17/NHTSA recall 19v-435 in June 2019 for the rear suspension toe links. The work was completed on July 2, 2019. I received another safety recall notice 20s62/NHTSA recall 20v-675 for the rear suspension toe links (same issue) in Dec, recall dated Nov 2020. I contacted the Ford dealership and scheduled an appointment for Dec 7, 2020. My advisor stated to me that my car had failed inspection and my vehicle would be kept overnight. She also stated the parts were on back order. I was taken to enterprise to obtain a rental vehicle. I called Ford headquarters to explain to the agent my vehicle had failed inspection and was at the dealership. The agent stated that Ford had cancelled the recall and only certain models were affected. I was still perplexed because my vehicle failed inspection. My advisor sent me a text on Dec 9, 2020 stating the eta is Dec 11 when the part would be sent, and she would provide me with an update on Dec 11, 2020. She called me on Dec 10 or Dec 11, 2020 and stated that Ford had cancelled the recall and that I could pick up my vehicle. I told her I was confused because my vehicle failed inspection. She stated that Ford headquarters was called, and she was also confused as to why Ford had cancelled the recall. The invoice never stated that the part(s) failed only the recall was listed. If I had not promptly called when I received the safety recall I would never have made the appointment, never had known the part(s) failed and never contacted Ford headquarters. If the dealership states that the part did not fail, then why was I provided a rental for a week? also, when I typed in my VIN on owner. Ford. Com and NHTSA. Gov zero recalls came up. Thank you for your attention for my concerns.
There's a popping sound when I hit a bump and make turns. In addition to that it started sounding like metal grinding and while driving my Explorer had a bounce and would sway when hitting bumps and taking curves. A very unsafe and scary feeling. It's mainly in the front but the rear end makes cracking sounds also. It's worrisome. The popping occurres as soon as I turn the wheel after I start it. The swaying and bouncing happens while in motion especially on the highway. I purchased the vehicle November 2020, and noticed it a day or two after when it was to late to return to car lot.
I mother of 3 (15, 13 & 11) & wife got into a major car accident on November 17th, 2020 at about 8:10am driving south on the whitestone expressway south a highly trafficked highway with 4 driving lanes. Police report no. 2020-109-2709. I explained to all instances including police, paramedics, tow company, car insurance, Ford auto dealer, repairing shop, etc. That my car simply failed me. I suddenly lost 100% control of the direction of the car and I was forced into invading all the lanes to my left as I was driving on the far-right side. I am an experienced driver for over 30 years I was totally aware and focused on regaining control of the vehicle, but it was simply not possible, the car spun out and I got eventually hit on the back really strong. The Ford motor company has issued several recalls related to the mechanical failure of the rear toe links that increase the risk of a crash. This repair was performed to my car an Explorer by the stamford Ford Lincoln sfl on August 11th, 2020 but the most recent recall I found out just yesterday Nov 23rd that was issued on October 30th, 2020 (no communication was sent to me by either the agency or the Ford motor corporation). It is my civil duty to communicate this to the community to avoid this from happening to others, anyone that owns a Ford Explorer 2013-2017 could die at any time for this ongoing unresolved issue by Ford. Every family deserves to drive a safe car. Presently, I am running the risk that my car gets totaled by the conclusions of the stamford body repair shop that works along with the sfl in which case I simply might never get the explanations that I deserve for the mechanical failure and I will be also losing thousands of dollars in the need to get a safe car to drive for my family. Requesting kindly your help to investigate this further. Dmv CT mentioned I should seek your help on the matter.
My vehicle was originally recalled for recall 20s62. I received the letter in November 2020, I took my vehicle to wayland Ford. They confirmed my car did need to be repaired but also needed additional six inch bolts as well. I reached out several times to the dealer, they were waiting for parts due to covid and supplier shortage in materials. In February I called back- wayland Ford informed me I should have received a letter from Ford motor which I did in Dec 2020 indicating my car did not need to be repaired. I did file a case with Ford customer care cas30091178 for this very recall. There was nothing she could do, Ford is knowingly letting customers drive defective cars and Ford has chosen to do nothing to cast a wider net to make sure they have contained the defect therefore I am submitting a complaint.
I was on the street turning left and I left my vehicle slow the speed and the whee got really hard. I was about to be in a car accident. I was not able to drive it home anymore. The vehicle will not go anymore.

While stationary or at slow speeds, when turning the steering wheel near the max, the right front strut mount gives a clanging sound. This is due to a loose strut mount that could be dangerous. This occurs on city roads where speeds are low enough to along near maximum turning radius.
My car started making a popping notice every time I turned my wheel while driving. I was told it was the rack n pinion and also suspension on my Ford.
I recieved a letter stating that my vehicle was in recall for the rear toe link suspension. The description of this recall is happening to my vehicle but it's not the rear it's the front that's describing all the symptoms. What are my options?.
Memorandum for Ford corporation, claim division from: [xxx], owner of 2013 Ford Explorer XLT, VIN#[xxx]. Punitive damages due a defective product. Recall# 19s17 MA'am, sir, I own a 2013 Ford Explorer, VIN#[xxx]. In December 2015, I moved to germany in under us army orders and exported my SUV to our military installation in vilseck, germany. I have always had issues with the car, experiencing steering problems and twice lost control, which resulted in two accidents in March, 2016 and November, 2017. Over my deployment to germany, I sought help from local Ford sites in bavaria, spent considerable amounts to fix the issue thinking the brakes are the issues and in times changing tires, but in vain. When, I attempted to import the vehicle back to the homeland upon my recent permanent change of station (pcs) back to hurlburt field, FL, I found out that the SUV was subject to a recall for a defect in the rear toe link, which increases the risk of crash (Ford recall# 19s17 and nthsa recall# 19v435). I obtained a waiver to import the car and called world Ford pensacola as soon as my car landed in the us on January 27, 2020 to schedule a fix. They fixed the issue on January 29, 2020. It is worth mentioning that Ford has my updated army post office (apo) address but had never notified me of this important recall (I have mail from Ford to my apo address but not for the recall). For the foregoing reasons, I decided to file a claim with Ford corporation for all of the expenses incurred due to the mishap, including my accident in 2016 and 2017. I contacted your hq ,but in vain. He ignored my phone calls and my emails. Therefore, I am reaching out to you in writing. I am asking, at this point, only for repair expenses and not asking for medical bills stemming from the accidents ($ 1732. 90 and 5000. 04 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I have received carbon monoxide poisoning from driving my 2013 Ford Explorer. I also have had the front end looked at and repaired had to pay most of the costs (extended warranty paid for some) for the front end popping sounds while turning. The sound is still there and on both sides now. So money wasted towards Ford!! the vehicle isnt drivable at this point and that leaves me without a vehicle.
The fuel tank has a gap between the place you fill up gas from gas leaking still. The wheels make a popping sound when you make sharp turns.
On my Explorer the recall 19v-435 (Ford number 19s17) was executed. After 3 month and approx. 2500mi the left new toe link broke. The car was running with 35mph to an intersection and I started moderate braking in front. Of a traffic light. During braking the left new toe link broke.

The contact stated that she pulls off the roadway and turns the vehicle off and on and this would reset the power steering. Additionally, the contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who advised that she had a problem with her rear suspension related to NHTSA campaign number: 21v537000 (suspension) rear toe link. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it not been diagnosed and had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 214,000.

The vehicle felt as if the alignment was bad. It was very difficult to steer. Turning was particular;y difficult. It sounds very similar to exactly what the recall on the toe links stated. The dealership said the knuckles were bad and needed replaced and that it happens to every 2013 Ford Explorer for some reason.
Takata recall. Never informed of the recall that was in place.

The failure occurred on multiple occasions and the fuse was reinserted in order to repair the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Also, while driving, the passenger side of the vehicle wobbled and vibrated. The vehicle was taken to bill flick Ford (737 north freeway service rd, huntsville, TX) where it was diagnosed that the suspension was faulty. The vehicle was repaired. Issue already reported. See NHTSA ld. Number 11174395. Vehicle is awd. Clunking noise coming from front axil area only. Current milage86644.
Upper strut mount passenger side gone bad. Makes noise when steering. Does it when in motion or stationary.
While driving the passenger side started clunking while turning. The noise happened if the vehicle was stationary or in motion. We had the strut replaced and it fixed the issue for a little under 6 weeks. All replacement pets came straight from Ford. Within 6 weeks of replacement the Ford replacement parts have now gone bad again and damaged the cv axle causing a terrifying shake when accelerating.
Driving on texas sh 290 power steering failed, steering lost power assist at 70 mph.
I was backing up from parking spot in a city garage and when I place the car in drive my power assisted steering (epas) failed. I got the power steering fault error, advancetrac error and terrain management error. The car was too difficult to manually steer actually nearly impossible. It took almost 1 hour and 2 grown big men to manually steer it out of the garage so that it could be put onto a flat bed tow truck. Ford claims that my VIN# number is not part of the recall (14s06) for this issue. The dealership that I had it towed to has quoted me around $2,000 to replace the steering rack. This is definitely a safety hazard and Ford need to takes responsibility and correct this issue.
Exiting from parking lot and speed of about 15 mph on a straight road, no pot holes, at about 100 ft from the parking exit, it hit an electric post. Left front suspension, fender, wheels, pillars, rocker & floor, radiator support, front lamps, hood, steering rock, cradle, transmission transfer case, front door and manny more damage. All are in left side. I checked the VIN but it is not on recall for power steering problem however I suspect power steering was the caused of accident. It is a major damaged and the insurance is not yet decided if repair or total wreck. I asked the Ford dealership to see on the diagnostic computer of the vehicle but up to now they have not yet check.
While driving on a highway, my steering began to feel tighter and tighter, with the wheel harder to turn. Soon it began to require a "push" to make the movement of the wheel begin. I pulled off the highway and the dash alerts came on. One said, "service power steering now" and one indicated that the traction control function was off. The manual said I should shut off the engine and it would reset these. Instead, the steering locked entirely. No dealers were still open the night before thanksgiving, so I took the vehicle to a shop I've used. They didn't have the computer hookups necessary so I towed it again to another shop. They "cleared" the codes, and found the vehicle did not misfunction again. They alerted me to the recall, Ford's #14s06 this recall included explores made between may of 2010 and februaryl28, 2013. My Explorer was made very soon thereafter, within days, in fact. Given that timing and the facts that indicate that my vehicle suffered the same defects the recall addresses, I feel my vehicle repair should be covered by Ford motor company. Ford motor company and the local dealer advise me that since my vehicle is not within the parameters of the recall, there is nothing they can do for me. I hereby submit my petition for an NHTSA investigation into whether Ford has met it's obligations in this matter. I hereby request the recall management division of the NHTSA to ensure that the scope of the recall [Ford #14s06] is adequate. I feel the scope fell short, in my case, by a few days, leaving my vehicle dangerously unprotected. I cannot repair this defect myself. There is no diagnosis available for me. The defect may be in the sensor, or in the power steering control module, or in the steering "rack". The local Ford dealer advises me that there are no "racks" available at this time anywhere. The NHTSA is my only hope.
I have been complaining of a suspension issue since I had purchased this vehicle in 2013. I am being told there want be a recall until someone dies. I even tried to have it fixed under warranty but suspension are not covered according to Ford dealers.
