The air condition came on by itself and wont go off it's on full blass. I turned the truck off waited and started it up again. Still wont go off.
After driving the vehicle an odor would consume the interior. I took it to a garage and they thought it was the air conditioning but it didn't help. After you drive and then come to a stop the entire interior is consumed with a horrible fume. . . It has caused my eyes to water, become nauseous and almost pass out. It is getting worse. The odor doesn't seem to happen while you are driving but as soon as you come to a stoplight or stop sign it just consumes the entire inside. I first started to smell it in July and really thought it was my air conditioning. It has been doing this ever since.
Every time we drive our 2014 Ford Explorer and turn on the air conditioner or heater we smell a rotten egg type of odor and it makes my wife and child all nauseated and gives us headaches sometimes. Many people have mentioned it to us as well when they are driving with us. It happens when we are parked, driving on the highway and just a city street.
My car has 64000 miles on it and was purchased in January 2014. The transfer case has failed and caused massive amounts of fluid to leak from the vehicle. The fluid could be seen on my driveway and my carport floor, and it was an $1850 fix at the mechanic. There was, according to the dealer, a recall for a similar issue with certified pre-owned Ford Explorers, and they said the transfer case was cracked, along with the valve. Additionally, there is an odor of propane or similar coming from the exhaust vents inside the vehicle. It's worse when it's on air conditioning, to the point where I actually have to put the windows down.
I have experience exhaust coming into the cabin of both Ford Explorers I've owned( 2012 and 2014). The exhaust enters the cabin section through the air condition vents. When passing another vehicle and or when the passing gear is engaged and returning to normal speed the exhaust enters the cabin. I complained to the dealership back on 2012 and nothing was said or done. When normal driving occurs I don't experience the leak. When I experience the exhaust leak I let all windows down to air out the cabin.
While driving intermittent carbon monoxide / exhaust in cabin. Highway and city driving. It has happened several time in the past 3 years. Smelled like my air conditioner was sucking up exhaust from the vehicle in front of me. But sometimes no vehicles were near.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Explorer. While driving approximately 60 mph with the air conditioner activated, there was an abnormal egg odor coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the hvac unit was failing and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 44,300.
Each time after driving our Ford Explorer for a length of time with the air conditioning on, my wife and I begin to feel light headed, tired and sick. My wife is pregnant and we have severe concerns about the safety of driving our Explorer due to the health risk of carbon monoxide leaking into the cabin. We are now aware of this problem with other Explorers and are deeply concerned for our health and the health of our baby.
We are experiencing abnormal and extensive exhaust fumes in the cab. We had a local dealer perform the no charge service offer by Ford to seal the cabin and reprogram the air conditioner but we soon realized this did not resolve the issue. We scheduled to have the vehicle inspected again. We received a message (we have a recording) from the service department manager that there was definitely an issue of exhaust being pulled into the cabin that they could not explain. They said they would call Ford for direction. They then contacted us to say that Ford told them this is normal which is a clear contradiction that is hard to accept as a conclusion. My wife will no longer ride in the vehicle due to the serious affects from the intense fumes during acceleration. Should I seek legal representation? there is a definite discrepancy in the response from the two parties.
Exhaust odor while 1) operating the vehicle with full throttle applications (e. G. , climbing steep grades or merging onto freeway ramps), and or 2) use of the air conditioning system in recirculation mode both contribute to exhaust gas being detected in the vehicle. Have had it in for service three times. There was no improvement after repairs.
We smell exhaust gas when the car is in full throttle, like when climbing a steep road or merging into freeway ramps, or just any sort of hard(ish) acceleration. Odor is also detected when the air conditioner was in recirculation mode. This has been going on since we bought the vehicle.
While driving with the air conditioning or heat on the vehicle has a strong odor of burning plastic or sulfur type smell.
Since the Explorer was purchased new in 2014, we have experienced strong exhaust fumes in the cabin area after acceleration in excess of 3000 rpms. Over a year ago, during a routine service visit to a Ford dealership, the technician advised us that Ford was recommending a solution involving placing "patches" om the exhaust system. We agreed for the procedure to be done and after that did not experience the problem again until the last two months. If before accelerating, the vent and air conditioning system is completely shut off until acceleration is completed and approximately 5 miles have been traveled, the odor is not detected. We have described the reoccurrence of the problem to the local dealership and they have checked the patches and reported that they are still intact. They cannot offer any other solution and we fear that the fumes may be hazardous to our health, as we cannot always predict the need to accelerate.
While stopped with air conditioning on the cabin of the vehicle fills with exhaust fumes. This makes my family and me sick, feeling nauseous with headaches. As a single mother I use my vehicle not only to get my family around but also as my livelihood. I am a lyft driver and this negatively affects my ratings from my customers who can smell the fumes.

Bought this 2014 Ford Explorer new the last of may, 2014. Immediately upon acceleration smelled exhaust. Thought it was coming from outside air. The smell stopped when we quit using the air conditioner. The smell started again this summer when we started using the air conditioner. . We finally realized that it was our vehicle and not outside air. Took car on vacation and it was so bad it made us all sick. Have had it to the dealer two times. The first time they said they could not find anything wrong. Today, we took it back as it is so bad I am sick. They admitted there was a known problem but no fix. Said there will be a fix in the near future. The carbon monoxide is so strong at random times that we are getting afraid to drive it. It seems to be the worse on sudden acceleration, such as pulling out into traffic. Something needs to be done as this is very dangerous. We were sick during vacation as well as the lady who was with us.
My 2014 Ford Explorer was purchased off the show room floor with no test drive. My normal daily drive consist of 2 lane side roads. On the weekend my family and I will take the interstate routes. In early March as we began our trip and I accelerated onto the interstate there was a very heavy exhaust odor. The odor was thick enough that we had to lower each of our windows. We thought it was strange but perhaps just a one time occurrence but that wasn't the case. The problem is occurring during heavy acceleration only, with no air, with the air conditioning or with the heat on. I have taken my vehicle to Ford 3 times since August 2014 for a total of 26 days in the shop in hopes of getting this repaired with no luck. I did have a case open with Ford case# 5266584 and was told last week (11/13/14) by customer service person "chris" that my case had been closed, reason; "the odor I am experiencing is normal" I was not notified by Ford that the case was being closed nor was the dealer where I purchased the vehicle. I placed a carbon monoxide detector in my vehicle and after 3 to 4 days on 11/01/14 received a warning to move to clean air! my vehicle is under full warranty however that is useless at this point. On 11/15/14 I had to take a 6 hour round trip with my mother, step father and mother-in-law we had to lower with window no less than 8 times during the travel and my mother had a very sick headache after the trip. This problem is real and I hope you will give it the time and attention needed to make sure other people like myself aren't just brushed off by Ford. Ford has my money paid in full for a vehicle I am forced to drive daily because I have no other transportation. And you ask do I also have headaches yes and they are very real.
