1 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2018

"driver side door ajar" light continues to come on each time I start the car. I have to open and shut the door to get it to turn off. That occurred for one month. Now the light will not turn off and the "transmission is not in park" light turns on while I am driving. In addition, the dome lights will not go off when I park the car unless I constantly adjust the light dial and eventually the dome light will go off when the doors are locked (30 minutes to get it off the other night). Regarding the rear transmission noise. Over 50 percent of the time when I am backing out of a parking spot, I hear a clunking sound as though I struck an object only to find that nothing is behind me. Finally, when I enter my car and start it, I hear a loud popping sound in the front windshield like the windshield glass is cracking. No idea what that may be.

2 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2017

This is a follow up to NHTSA id 11019920 filed 8/26/17. Exhaust odor, smells like sulfur, strong, pungent, coming through dahs board vents during sustained acceleration and shortly after. The problem is repeatable every time: put vent system in recirculation mode, sustained acceleration over 3,000 rpm, wait 5 seconds, strong sulfur odor comes through dash board vents. I am now experiencing headaches on a consistent basis as I have been driving the vehicle more often for commuting since purchasing it in March 2017 with 25k miles. I am seeing a doctor and am building a case for more severe headaches with increased driving in my Explorer. Today, I decided to look under the vehicle - I am including photos of the exhaust manifold which shows a crack near the pipe-to-flange connection. And, no, my vehicle is not a police cruiser and it does not have aftermarket parts installed. How many more complaints do you need? TSB 14-0130 is Ford's cheap attempt to hide a very serious problem and avoid a costly recall of over 1 million vehicles. The evidence continues to mount, injuries have occurred, countless Explorer owners have expended much resources in filing complaints, and Ford says, "these vehicles are safe. We have not found a safety issue here". Ford has issued tsbs which do not address the problem. Their latest insult to offer to "inspect and repair" rear lift gates and drain valves, and reprogram the air circulation system is laughable, nothing more than a distraction to hide the real problem. Ford should put every Explorer on a lift and inspect the exhaust manifolds, and do extensive testing of the vacuum system that is connected to the air circulation system. Nhtsa: why is it taking you so long to address this problem? does someone need to die before you or Ford take this matter seriously? you have the evidence you need to force a recall, now!.

3 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2017

The dealer had to replace the cracked exhaust, manifold/caralytic converter asmy. I was told that if this was not corrected fumes could get into the car. This is the same problem Ford is having with the police Explorers. I have heard that Ford is paying to have these repair. I wrote to Ford and they told me that they would not pay for this. Ford states "ther are no warranties in effect that would provide assistance for your concern" (marsha boyd). . Why are the police vehicles being repair?.

4 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2017

I recently bought a 2014 Ford Explorer. I've been noticing an exhaust leak/smell that leaks into the cab of the vehicle. The first time I noticed the smell was after accelerating on to the highway at about 3500-4000 rpm. It seems to get worse every day. As soon as the vehicle starts I smell it. The only time it goes away is when I'm cruising with the windows cracked and the heat turned down. As soon as I come to a stop or slow down from highway speeds I immediately get the smell in the cab. Worried about carbon monoxide or any other toxic fumes entering the vehicle.

5 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2016

We were driving down I-95 north in south carolina and all of a sudden we hard a loud pop. It sounded like we blew a tire. When we got out to look, the front passenger door window had a crack in it. The crack continues to grow, traveling down from the center of the top of the window towards the car frame by the side view mirror. You can barely feel it on the outside of the window and on the inside you can't feel it at all.

6 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2016

When driving, passenger door window cracked when going from hot to cold temperatures. Ford refuses to fix it.

7 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2014

I have a 2014 Ford Explorer sport and whenever the vehicle accelerates it severely pulls to the left. The vehicle with track straight until you step on the gas and it pulls severely to the left requiring me to compensate by while driving. I advised the dealership on 10-8-14, 10-18-14, 12-4-14, on a March oil change with Ford, 1-7-15 and 5-18-15. The dealerships initially denied the car had any issues that were abnormal but eventually they admitted it does pull to the left but it was normal according to the Ford engineers and nothing could be done to correct it since it was a natural characteristic of the vehicle. I did not agree since I have driven other vehicles of the same make and model that did not perform the same as my vehicle does. I also spoke to various Ford service technicians that indicated they had never encountered this issue and they assumed that it couldn't be torque steer since the intelligent 4 wheel drive should correct any wheels that were not spinning at the same speed as the others causing the vehicle to pull in one direction or the other. However, the dealership indicated they could only go by what the corporate engineers advised them and that was that the issue was normal despite the vehicle being rated for a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. I also haven't been given an explanation on why the left tires on my vehicle are worn out only on the outside of the tire exactly in the direction the car is pulling to. The sever pulling to the left is not a minor think and the car will move by the feet to the left veering out of the lane unless I compensate while steering, yet it drives absolutely straight if I let off the gas and I can't imagine towing anything behind this vehicle with these abnormal driving conditions.
