Both the driver side and passenger side exterior a-pillar applique molding came while driving down the highway and almost caused an accident. This has happened twice because Ford says they can't fix it because they don't have the parts. Anyone can get the parts online that are after market but that does not fix the issue. I did buy the after market ones and those came off on the interstate and almost hit a motorcycle driver. This has been going on since January of 2024 and Ford is not doing anything about it. You are unable to call Ford, email Ford, and no one will escalate this. Now it has become even more of a safety issues because my rubber seals for my windshield are wearing and tearing off at a fast pace. It is causing more damage that Ford will not be responsible for fixing. Why do safety recalls not get fixed and are not forced to be fixed? safety recall and no one cares to get it fixed.
The vehicle inspection to see if our vehicle qualified for the recall to replace the a-pillar trim was done well over a year ago. The inventory has been on backorder for over a year as well. The windshield desperately needs replaced for safety reasons and the windshield cannot be replaced without replacing these recalled pieces. We are having to pay $200 extra out of pocket to replace these defective pieces. According to Ford they will not reimburse for the repair since they notified us of the recall, but they haven't been able to fix the problem in a timely manner and we need a new windshield immediately. So I believe they should reimburse us for these parts we have to pay out of pocket for due to not being able to fix the recall.
My apillar molding piece flew off the passenger side of my wind shield. I’m scared the other side will do the same thing and I don’t want anyone to get hurt but I have to use my car. I have been waiting 6 months for the parts… also, whenever it rains my floorboards flood from water leaking through my windshield and could possibly get into my electronics as well.

•rearview camera view and alerts •inspection unknown • hit mailbox •dogded backup accidents in parking lots ??dogded backup accidents out of hard to see drive ways •not taken to dealer no recalls for my year •not inspected by anyone •no warning lamps •alerts would just stop (checked settings it was on) •camera would freeze first occasionally •progressed to going black •camera goes in and out •beeping works then stops •no rhyme or reason to what stops or freezes and when or season •first noticed it after purchase a few years ago.
In January 2024 we were driving on the interstate when the left front a-pillar trim part around windshield came off and hit our windshield, then flew off on the highway. We received a recall from Ford in February 2024, to date they claim they still don't have the part to repair, we now have water that leaks into the car when it rains. Which is creating issue inside our car. It has now been two years, it seems like they will never get this and my car will keep leaking. The car is titled in virginia but the car is located at our florida property in clearwater beach FL, I need it fixed down here.
The window trim and weatherstripping has detached from the vehicle while driving highway speed. Pieces were detaching more as I drove. Causing vehicles to maneuver in ways of car not being damaged.
Front windshield trim coming off at highway speed.
Driving on highway approx. 65-70 mph windshield trim on passenger side flew off, over car onto highway. I was unable to retrieve piece due to number of vehicles on the 3-lane highway. Have noticed other Explorers in colorado missing same piece. Thanks for looking into this issue.
The rear safety camera fails to appear in the dash. Car says unable to connect or display. Sometimes works, mostly does not. Ford dealer wants to charge $800 to fix. As this is a vehicle safety feature, I believe it is a failure similar to the latest recall by Ford.
Weather stripping on wind shield falls apart and becomes a projectile while driving.
The backup camera does not work. Sometimes a reversed the image which is highly dangerous. This has happened to a number of people I know who have the same car. It says see dealership on the screen.

I was driving on the highway and heard a scraping sound similar to the sound of ice scraping across the windshield before it flies off. The next morning I noticed that the trim around the windshield was gone. I thought it was just my car but I am now seeing more Explorers with the same problem. I called a Ford dealer and was told that there is no recall and that I would have to pay for the repair.

Dual climate control defrost freezing rain icing conditions dual climate control module broke currently blowing cold air on passenger side defrost when heat is on. Visibility severely affected on passenger side of vehicle. Vehicle in motion on highway.
Multiple sensor failures while car was in motion. Vehicle would not recognize that the transmission was in park. Climate control sensor failed, resulting in temperatures being increased to the maximum heat. This happened while the vehicle was in motion on a highway. Windshield wiper fluid sensor failed and did not recognize that there was fluid in the receptacle. This happened while in motion. Sensor on dual climate control failed and was blowing hot air at the passenger and cold air at the driver. This happened while in motion.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Explorer. While the vehicle was parked and attempting to open the front passenger and driver side windows, both windows began to vibrate causing the vehicle to shake without warning. The failure recurred each time the windows were opened. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure was unable to be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
The first time I took my new vehicle out at night I struggled seeing the road even with the fog lights on. When you look out over the hood there is a black line at hood height and the light appears above the black line. So there is not much light hitting the road. When making a turn the headlights do not follow the road on the turn as they appear off in the distance and not down on the road. You virtually cannot see in rural areas when making a turn. Even high beams do not illuminate the road very well. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed before someone has an accident and kills themselves.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Explorer. While driving 75 mph, the front driver side trim detached from the windshield. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to northside Ford (located at 12300 san pedro Ave, san antonio, TX 78216, (210) 319-5734) where it was diagnosed that the trim needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred on November 19, 2019. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 82,000.
My used 2014 Explorer sport that was bought in October of 2014 with less than 8000 miles keeps telling me the transmission is not in park when it clearly is. This use to happen on occasion but now it is constant. I have also had problems with the instrument panel on dashboard just going black when driving. It really doesn't have to be any speed. This has happened several times and it can be kind of scary especially when driving on freeway in heavy traffic. My windshield wiper blades (less than a year old) act like the are going to fly off the car when turned on. The wipers just don't seem like they are attached right. But they are and I have replaced them with Ford recommended parts more than once. The most annoying problem with the car is the exhaust smell that is always there. I thought is was just me being overly sensitive to odors. But I noticed others complaining of the odor as well. The odor comes all the time. There really is not distinct rpm when it happens it is just always there. I have not taken my car in for repairs due to a previous bad experience with a different vehicle. I can handle all the problems with the car but the exhaust smell is so bad and gives me a headache if I'm in the car to long.
The headlights on this Explorer were designed so that if you are on a dark road you can't see more than 3 feet in front of you and nothing on the sides. It's like driving in the dark. I took it to the dealer and they said it was a design flaw. I think this is very dangerous, and scary, especially since I live in colorado. I left with them not being able to do anything about it. I went on line and it looks like this is a common complaint.
I purchased this vehicle about a month ago. Driving home, 2 1/2 hours away from where I purchased it, the sun was hitting my front windshield. I noticed tremendous amounts of tiny shiny particles all over the windshield. It was very distracting and hazardous!!! I checked the following day and the entire windows have the same thing. I was told by the dealership that it's normal. I have had 3 other Ford vehicles in the past 4 years and never had this problem. It is very very hazardous to me and I think that they should not be making windows like this and they should recall and replace these. I am paying alot of money for this vehicle and deserve to be happy and be able feel completely safe driving it.
Exterior a-pillar applique trim clip attachments are not properly engaged due to improper assembly or repair. Reaer toe link rear tires tilted inward due to potential fractures from corrosion or broken welds on toe link.
