I received a recall notice from Ford on Thursday. Everytime I call to make a service appoint, I told recall computers are down.

37 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2020

Two separate failure within a four day time span. Company sold me the vehixal said it was a tie rod and fixed the right passenger rear wheel. The vehical was real eased to me today with the understanding that the rear suspension was fully repaired. I had a high speed accident after the left rear tir rod broke at a speed of 80 mph. Due to the suspension breakage, the car went off the interstate at high speed. The rear end suspension had complete failure and the auto dealership released the vehicle to me with the full with assurance the issue was fixed. This was a very serious incident with a potential deadly outcome.

38 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2020

I had the rear toe links replaced due to a safety recall December 2, 2019. On 09/27/20, I was returning home after dropping my kids off traveling 70 mph on a highway, when the recal part I had replaced less than a year ago break. This caused me to lose control and have an accident. I notified Ford of this 09/28/20 and I was informed that the recal was completed, nothing they could do. I informed them the part broke at the weld which is a defective part. Again, I was told ot their problem. This has caused my vehicle to to be towed , damage to the rear bumper and myself buying a new part out of pocket to get vehicle on road again to go to work. This is also any other problems that it may have caused due to stress on vehicle, like other toe link, tires, brakes, other suspension parts. Enclosed is part and part number that was the recal part replaced by a Ford dealership and damage to vehicle. I was lucky I did not hit the other vehicles around me, hit head on with center divider or guardrail, roll the vehicle or have serious injury.

41 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2020

Noticed problem with steering. When I changed lanes the vehicle continued in that direction until I corrected it. This happened several times while driving home from work so I went straight to matt bowers Ford in metairie. I was told the steering gear needed to be replaced, the module reprogrammed and an alignment. I've seen quite a few recalls concerning this but was not told that my vheicle VIN was not affected. I now see many people are complaining of the same problems. This should be looked at carefully before someone gets hurt. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly; 3 - VIN corrected, error in one position (assuming check digit is correct); 14 - unable to provide information for all the characters in the VIN. #vpic#.

42 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2020

49000 miles, electronic steering is starting to go out. When driving moderate speeds car makes loud audible noises especially when turning the wheel. Rack and pinion will need to be replaced. Ford told me it was 100% safe to drive. Took to independent mechanic who said the exact opposite and should be replaced before it goes out heaven forbid at high speeds. Family of 4 young kids, this is supposed to be a safe, family car. Ford is putting a lot of families at risk not recalling this. This car only has 49k miles. They are losing lots of return customers by not handling a safety issue properly. I hope no deaths have to happen to bring more severity to this pressing issue. If you hear a click when steering, get the car inspected ASAP! clicking occurs when stationary and is more intense when driving. It could go out at any moment.

43 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2020

This car has extremely bad sway in the rear end, it cannot be driven over 40 mph or you will lose total control of the vehicle.

44 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2020

I was driving on the highway 65 in ham lake, mn several weeks ago when I suddenly lost control of the steering. The vehicle lunged to the left towards the ditch. I was able to fishtail it back onto the road, almost rolled the vehicle and barely kept it under control. I got over to the right shoulder and call the anoka county sheriff for assistance. A deputy assisted but I don't believe a formal police report was filed. This was Sunday July 19th. We were able to get to local mechanic who looked at it the follow day and determined that the toe control link had broken. They repaired it with a new part from the local Ford dealership and the vehicle seemed fine. Last night the new part that they installed broke as well. I looked online and see that there is a recall for this exact part, the toe control link on 2011-2017 Ford Explorers. I checked the VIN on the ntsb website but it indicates that our car is not included in the recall. We had brought the car into metropolitan Ford in eden prairie earlier in the year for other recall issues. Had the recall been comprehensive, this would have been caught and fixed. At 65 mph, my daughter and I should have both been killed in the original incident. It had been several weeks since the (near) accident and we are still shaken up by it. Fortunately, last night's incident was at much slower speed. I am fearful that there are other families whose lives in danger as well. I have a photo that I took of the current (second) break that occurred that is attached.

45 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2020

I started hearing a knocking in the front end and the steering was very loose, when I turned right at first and on occasion to the left mechanic said if I had gone much further it would have broken all the way and I would have lost all control of the SUV.

46 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2020

The rack & pinion steering broke and Ford is refusing to include it in the recall they have on this exact problem.

47 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2020

The recalled toe link on the rear suspension broke 3 months after it was replaced and cause a crash while diving down the highway, slowing for a speed zone for a town. Involving body damage. And the vehicle was repaired and 1 week after getting it back from the dealer the link broke for a second time, while on a curve with cruise control on road conditions were dry both times. We have owned the vehicle for 6 weeks total and have only been able to drive for 2 of them.

48 Suspension problem

49 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2019

After rear toe link recall was completed, vehicle rear end swayed while braking on rough roads. This was getting worse as was starting to happen without breaking. Took vehicle to a different dealer (wilson Ford saginaw, mi) than the one who did the recall work (lafontaine of birch run). Mechanic found that two bolts (one lh and one rh) were not tightened from original recall work.

60 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2018

In the recent past both rear tie rods have broken, one at a time while being driven on dirt roads at less than 18 mph. The vehicle has less than 27,000 miles on it. When this happens the wheel turns from straight to a 45 degree angle. This so far has occurred when being driven slowly. The vehicle was purchased from don reid Ford on the state of florida contract for light trucks - 4wd. The vehicle is driven to and from work as well as on the 196 miles of dirt roads within the st. Johns improvement district. This vehicle design was changed in 2016 to a taurus chassis with what I believe to be all wheel drive. The vehicle has tie rods and cv axles in the front and rear. It does not appear to be suitable for part time off road use. I am concerned that while I am traveling at highway speeds to work that one of these rear tie rods will break and cause a catastrophic accident resulting in death or injury to myself.

61 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

Since I have purchased the vehicle in February 16 it has been back for service nurmous times, starting 2 days after delivery! major complaint has been coolent loss and burning coolant smell following with a oil leak at the same time. This is a new vehicle 10 miles on it shouldn't have these issues so I demanded a different vehicle, was refused due to demographics! well the dealer brushes everything off as all do say it's normal it happens, as time passes it goes back to the dealer for same issue they replaced a oil seal again and coolant loss and smell is normal to them, they can't find any issues, I tell them it's after long drives well each time they have it over a week. To boot they ignore my complaint about the rotten egg smell I get on acceleration! they tell me it's probably the gas I'm using, mind you this is verbal after the fact, they did not want to put it on the work order. They ordered a new steering wheel due to it peeling. I was also told that technically I am responsible for the diagnosis if they do not find anything wrong and that I had to cover the techs time, well I have to take it back in again for no coolant in the overflow foul smell coming from the vents and exaust smell in the cabin. The vehicle has 14900 mi should not have these problems espicaly costing what it did.
