Was driving down the highway 70ish mph with the cruise control on and the following errors came out of no where less than 5,000 miles on the car and had the oil changed the day before (by a certified Ford dealer) powertrain malfunction/reduced power, pre-collision assist not available, the hill start assist warning. The cruise control was no longer available after that. We were 1 hour from home. We did make it home just wasn't able to use the cruise control. Had the dealership hook it up to read the code errors. Has no explanation of why and cleared the codes. Just said that for some reason the car lost communication with the car. I have driven it for 2 days since no more errors so far but I am waiting. .

I got in my 2015 Ford Explorer this morning started the car backed out of the driveway and it would not steer no power steering at all. Apparently there is a steering module within the steering column that gets locked because of traction control there's be several accounts on social media where this has happened when people are driving down the freeway. Apparently if this module needs to be replaced the whole steering column needs to be replaced at a cost of over $3,000.

The vechile abs brake system is not working. My new car has been increasing speed on its own. The agency has not been able to provide a resolution and warning sensor goes off that the brake system is not working. This happened from one day to the next, the truck is left in clean garage and minimally driven. This makes the truck unsafe. I have contacted Ford multiple times but they end y call without a resolution.
Driving the car and warnings appeared on the dashboard showing power steering and stability control failed. I could barely turn the steering wheel. Thank god I was on a side street near home. If this happened on a highway or expressway I would likely have lost control of the vehicle. It was due to failure of the steering rack.

While my vehicle was in motion there was a loud clank. The car would then not accelerate properly. After stopping the vehicle there was a leak in the transmission fluid and then the car would not move. There was never any lights that appeared or any warning signs. It had to be towed to the Ford dealership at my expense. Less then 6000 miles on the vehicle.
I was driving home from dropping my daughter off at daycare and I lost the power steering on my vehicle while the vehicle was in motion and I was driving a steady speed down a straight road. My daughter was no longer in the car with me as this could have resulted in an accident but thankfully she was not and I was able to pull off the road with a lot of effort involved. My car had to be towed to the Ford shop and I had to have my power steering core changed. $2500. This car only has 37,000 miles and is a 2016 Ford Explorer. Quite frustrating, disappointing and expensive. There needs to be a recall with this problem because I am not the only one this has happened too.

While driving the traction control and abs lights come on. System has stability control warning. While driving this causes brakes to lock up. My wife almost crashed due to the brakes locking. Once you turn off the car it will reset and everything appears normal until it happens again. Unfortunately this incident does not store any codes in the system. We have had the 2016 expolorer in the shop multiple times and the dealerships have done nothing to fix the issue. Because there are no codes they are doing nothing. They do not research the issue nor have they tried to fix anything. There are multiple complaints about this and a procedure needs to be established to diagnose and fix the problem. This is a serious safety issue and needs to be addressed by Ford before someone dies. My wife will no longer drive this vehicle because she feel unsafe.
My power steering assist went out multiple days as I went to start my vehicle. I turned it off and it turned back on. On the fourth day when I was driving home it turned off on me and I lost power steering. I had to pull over and turned off my vehicle and turned it back on but the power steering remained off and my other sensors turned off as well-stability control etc. . I went to the dealership and they said I needed a new power steering assembly and new battery. It cost me $2770 to fix. The recall did not apply to my VIN for my 2013 Ford Explorer even though it was for the same issue as the recall.
Power steering assist fault, my steering was intermittent but now its completely gone. I can not steer my car. It was stationary , it happened as soon as I started my car.

I have numerous fault messages, pre collision assist fault, 4wd temp disabled, 4wd system fault service required, service required, drive mode unavailable fault, auto hold system fault, service advancetrac, vehicle will not swtich into park or neutral. I was in motion at the state speed limit of 70 on the ohio turnpike when out of the bule the warning cluster lit up like a christmas tree with mutiple faults and system errors. Vehicle has limited braking.
Saturday June 20th 2020 the hill assist message came on as did the abs and traction control lights came on. There is no power steering and both axles are making a clicking noise. I have learned that this is the rack and pinion electronic power assist system. Epas unit has failed. Luckily it was in my cul DE sac turning around and not on the freeway. My wife predominantly drives this vehicle. The steering is very difficult to move. The vehicle only has 64,000 miles on it. Is this a private recall? I have spoken with a couple of other Explorer owners that Ford "took care of it" for them. I have ordered the part, but it will not be there for a week. This car is well taken care of and is normally driven on city streets and occasionally on the highway.
The electronics in sync have been generating blue screens, which disable: tront & rear sensors & cameras, front & rear collision avoidance, cruise control, lane departure, and advancetrac. Ford thus far is unable to fix issue. 3 attempts have been made to fix this, a 4th is pending. Ford supposedly has no repair parts available for this issue. Vehicle safety is an issue. Two Ford cases have been opened: Ford vehicle buy back case no. cas-26941923-h4d6y2 crm:0688061 Ford sync problems case no. cas-26663167-j5q8f8 crm:0382088.
Lost of power steering while driving, coming from an oil changed at the dealership. Was able to pull over into a parking lot, and was able to manage not to get into an accident. This could've been fatal, and Ford need to recall.
While I was driving on the interstate, in the left most lane, there was road on the side of the road sighted ahead that was extending into the left lane I was traveling in. To avoid the upcoming lane infringement, I needed to accelerate to change lanes to the right of me. I had plenty of room to execute evasive maneuvers; the 2020 Explorer st however, did not allow me to change lanes and instead applied the brakes and froze my ability to steer - almost causing an accident. This has happened twice on the interstate. I took the vehicle to Ford - no explanation/cannot find a problem. The vehicle also unexpectedly breaks when nothing is near it. This also happens in reverse. The car will not let me reverse out of my garage - nothing is anywhere near it!!! I have to turn the car off and restart it to clear its sensors. Nothing is there!!! I have had the car about 7 months and only have about 2000 miles on the car. I'm afraid to drive it and want to return it. The sensors are obviously malfunctioning. The vehicle will not remember seat settings or mirror settings. It also inadvertently changes the seat location while going from park to drive or sitting at a light and pushes it all the way forward ramming my knees/legs into the dash. . . . It will not stop going forward unless I turn the vehicle completely off. This is definitely a malfunction. I have taken it to Ford dealer service - they cannot find a problem.
After getting my airbag recall taken care of I noticed the steering started getting tight more and more after 2 days it was really tight until it rained and it got loose again but the street line sensors and the rumble stopped working. One day after the rain dried the wheel tighten up again where I can barely turn it. I ask Ford about it and they said I had to get a diagnostic for $179 to determine what was wrong. Also have a problem with the emissions passing because the air filter sensor is not working. Trying to get an outside mechanic . Ford is a ripoff.
Driving on a two lane highway and the power steering completely failed. We were told by the dealership where we purchased the car to bring it in but it sounded like "steering assist fault" since that was the error message, duh. It was cost $500 for an alignment? replaced faulty rack and pinion gear and checked alignment(should be ok since they aligned it the same day) total bill $2291. 00 this is a 2015 Explorer limited that has been in the shop several times for car a carbon monoxide leak in the cabin of SUV for repairs, power seat repairs and interior door panel coming apart.
For weeks now the car has been deciding what to do. The air conditioner randomly turns off or won't turn on. The window won't roll up or down. Lights in the dashboard randomly go on and off all the time. Sometimes there is just a loud noise but no lights. Then recently when I was driving on the highway going 55 mph with my 3 children the car shut its self off. The lights went crazy then shut off. There was no gas or brakes as I was going 55 mph. Once the car came to a rolling stop. It did not turn back on. Once towed to the dealership, they cannot find anything wrong.

Tl-the contact owns a Ford excplorer. The contact stated that when the vehicle was turned on, the heated sets, the heated steering wheel and the apple port did not work and the message center displayed emergency charging needed. The vehicle stopped running. The vehicle was re-started and then driven to the dealer fred martin Ford, 4701 mahoning Ave, youngstown, OH 44515, they determined that the battery was low ( the battery was replaced already one time by the same dealer on December 23, 2019 ). The contact also mentioned that the vehicle had been at the dealer four times, they were not able to replicate the failure. The contact made an appointment with the dealer fred martin Ford, 4701 mahoning Ave, youngstown, OH 44515 for this comming wenesday February 26 2020. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 13,001. Bp.

The power steering rack and eps shuts down and I have no power steering while driving. We have replaced the steering rack and had the eps reset twice and it still pops up the sensor for the eps and shuts my power steering down. I've almost crashed my vehicle twice and had it towed 3 times because of this.
Steering become hard cant move the wheel or make any turn. . . And the light of service power steering and service advance trac came on. I almost have a accident do to this problem.
Our SUV lost power steering while driving and unable to steer vehicle without excessive force. Warnings that came on dash include: service power steering now, advancetrac warning, and all terrain warning. The turn signals also will not operate properly.
About two months ago the steering was getting tough with little noise like clunking, took the Explorer to a Ford dealer was told my front struts needed changed. Had that done, did not fix my steering problem. Said my VIN was outside of the recall Ford had on the steering rack. Now just yesterday I start my car and my steering wheel is stuck no movement. Turned it off and back on and got movement but no power steering it's a manual. Warning lights came on 1. "service power steering now" 2. "service advance trac". Also noticed my turn signal will not stay engaged must hold in place to signal.
The power electric power steering assist, the power steering, my blinkers, all went out when my gear box did. For the second time. Ford has recalls on these parts but not for my VIN number.
I was driving down the highway and I got errors saying my advace trac system needed to be serviced. Also that my power steering failed and I needed to pull the vehicle over safely. I was going about 65mph and my power steering went out!. I had to take an offramp shortly after (I was on my way to work) and it was difficult to steer the vehicle. Very dangerous!.
Upon starting vehicle in driveway, experienced intermittant power steering failure also showing stability control error. Vehicle is 2013 Explorer with 95k miles. Turning vehicle off and restarting seems to correct the issue for now. Researced and saw recall 14v286000 for same reported issues, but seems that my VIN does not fall within the designated vehicles.
Ford Explorer XLT "in-dash control screen blanks out-leaves no electronic control drive, odometer, speed, climate control, backup camera, steering wheel controls, turn signals etc".
The power steering has failed and is reporting error power assist system failure. The stability control os also reporting an error. The behavior is the same as is described in recall# 14v286000, but the VIN check doesn't include my vehicle in the recall even though I have the same model vehicle that is the subject of the recall. I have seen reports by others reporting the same issue and are also finding their vins are also not included in the recall. Intermittently I used to get the power assist system failure message when I would first start the car, but after turning the car off and then on again everything would be fine. However, a few days ago the system failed permanently. Fortunately it occurred while tue car was stationary, in my driveway. I'm taking car to dealer for repair tomorrow, however, I'm expected the repair to cost around $2000. I dont understand why such a critical part can have such catastrophic failure when the car is only 6 years old and only has 116,000 miles on it. I have owned cars with over 200,000 miles that did require complete replacement of the steering system.
Electronic steering gear assembly was a recall and was replaced. Replacement part has now gone bad once again. Ford is not honoring the warranty it provided for this part. Vehicle has no steering power now. Went out while driving down the road. Unable to turn left causing to go off the road. Was able to correct and traveled to dealer to find out that the steering is gone.
While driving (second incident, it was repaired by Ford motor vehicle for the same thing last year) my steering wheel became uncontrollable. The vehicle kept pulling me to the left, I almost had a head on with the oncoming vehicle. I was so shook up, I pulled off the road and waited for help. My husband tested it since and the pull is quite noticeable.
Vehicle loses acceleration, stalls and shakes when at a stop. Jerks when backing up. Vehicle has been to Ford two times. First time replaced throttle, and second time unable to duplicate error. Currently will be picking up vehichle from sheehy Ford ashland in va. This is extremely unsafe.
Steering assist error came on dash along with terrain control error while driving down road. Lost power steering ability. Luckily it was close to home when failed or could of happened when in traffic and a horrible accident could of happened. Took to mechanic and said new steering rack needed. This was a recall on the same car a few years older. Car is also being taken in next week for rear suspension recall.
Turning at a red light my power steering locked up with a warning on the screen stating steering assit service required. I turn the vehicle off and back on and the steering unlocked. Since the car is making a whining nose. I see multiple recalls for this make and model for power steering issues but my VIN number isnt listed.
