Brake lights and turn signals stopped working. Problem traced to tilt steering and multi-function switch wiring harness. Broken retainer clip allows wires to be pulled from connector breaking connection for brake light and turn signal. Once tilt steering is engaged connection is broken and wires do not stay connected and loss of brake lights and turn signal is the result. This could lead to accident, injury and or loss of life due to poor design. The brake light problem had eluded me until I did a google search on the internet which resulted in hundreds, if not thousands, of people all experiencing the same problem. Calling the Ford dealer and providing the part number (e6db14489da) on the connector proved futile in having them even identify the part yet I was able to find the part on the internet just be a google search. At this point, I am unable to locate a replacement part so I am forced to hot glue the wires into the broken connector in order to drive my vehicle.

While my son was driving west on route 64 in the left hand lane near rocky mount, nc at a speed of 70 mph, the brake light came on followed by a loud noise and then the vehicle pulled hard to the right causing my son to run a motorcyclist off the road to avoid being hit. I had the vehicle towed to a shop and the determined that the right front bearing assembly had failed. This could have been a fatal accident due to the sudden loss of control.

While driving at 60-65 miles hour,I saw the brake lights of the vehicle in front of me when I applied the brakes on my car ( Explorer Sport 2002 )for the first 15 feet my car partially slowed down then it felt like it lost traction and the back swung to the right,I got it going straight again and kept the pressure on the brake pedal but the car kept going at the same speed crashing on the other vehicle. Latter I saw streaks marks of fluid coming out of the right front wheel. Ts.
