Air bag light stays on. Dealer states a "short" in wiring loom, needs to replace with a better connector for $1100. Dealer warns me that while light is "on" airbag system will not operate in a crash.

We were traveling 35mph in snowy/icyconditions. We slid into a telephone pole on the drivers side and totaled the SUV without any airbags going off and the seatbelts coming out of the lock. We have been in contact with Ford via two letters but the won't acknowledge that their drivers side airbag should have went off in that type of collision even with photos to prove. We need help. We need to know what "should" have happened in that type of incident. We received head injuries.

Was involved in a collison with my 01 Ford Explorer Sport, in which the truck was totaled. Neither my driver or passenger side airbag opened. My vehicle had been serviced recently so I don't understand why they didn't open we are lucky to be alive.
When starting vehicle the air bag light would turn on and not go out. Consumer has fixed the problem once already, and then after doing it again, dealer had the side air bag system replaced. Air bag light on for the third time. Local dealer replaced side air bag system for 2nd time.
