On October 31, 2025, I was backing out of my driveway when multiple lights concerning the brakes came on. There had been no previous warnings about any issue with the brakes. My internet search revealed that it wasn't safe to drive, so I contacted gary yeoman Ford and they sent a rollback to pick the truck up. After gary yeoman performed tests, they confirmed that the abs module was defective and conducted a pinpoint test for code 1342 in system and found internal fault in module. According to google, code b1342 can cause serious drivability issues. I have printouts from google and gary yeoman Ford to support these statements. I will attempt to upload these documents from my phone. This is being filled out on a desktop and I have no scanner.

Drivers side rear brake line developed a hole caused by the emergency brake cable rubbing against it causing all the brake fluid to leak & the brakes failed. Fortunately my husband was driving on our rural road & not out on the main highway. We have not been able to get it repaired yet.

When the brakes are engaged, that accelerator also engages causing the vehicle to not stop. Which caused a serious wreck. This has been checked out by the Ford dealer on multiple occasions. Several others have also reported this issue. Truck is totaled and airbags did not depoly with direct front end impact.

Issue Feb 2018 - present I bought my 2nd- hand 2007 Ford sport trac in February 2018, from the original owner. We had experienced 2 cat-five hurricanes; power and internet was almost nonexistent, so I could not research the truck. On the second day after my purchase, while driving down a street at about 30 mph, it stalled. I had very little breaks and no steering. When I tried to crank it, it would turn over but not fire. For the last two years, I have had no luck fixing the issue. Upon research, there are hundreds of blogs/ questions / attempts to repair from owners trying to fix the same issue. One blog said that it had been requested for Ford to do a recall, but Ford denied that there was an issue. It may drive great for 3 weeks and then when you are driving straight down a steep, curvy mountain in traffic, it turns off with no way to stop quickly or control the steering. If you drive too slowly or someone pulls in front of you and drives 5 miles an hour, it will stop. If you punch the gas pedal to get out of the way of a dangerous situation, it will often stall. Sometimes it won't drive, and then it surges forward. It often sounds like the fuel is running rich. You never know when it will happen so you are always in danger. I have changed out the starter switch, shift linkage, just about every sensor, pump, filter, wiring, egr valve, throttlebody another original owner on island said he's ready to drive his off of a cliff after dealing with this problem for three years. His truck is a 2010 I believe. I checked back with him recently. He changed out his computer system and it is now running properly for the moment. I can't sell my truck bc my ethics won't allow it. I can't trash it bc I need to sell it to buy another. I bought the truck to be safe. It has done nothing but placed me in danger and depleted my wallet.

The brake pedal had become soft after 51,000 miles and a recent brake job. After calling the mechanic who did the job he said that the lines didnt need to bleed because the lines were never opened.
Ever since I got the truck about 4 months ago I have been having a problem with the rear breaks locking up. It happens after the vehicle has been sitting up for a few hours and it's raining or there's a good but of moisture in the air. When you first get in the truck the rear breaks will lock up on you only going forward for some reason. If you apply very little pressure it does it. After about 10 times locking it up it drives fine as long as its not parked for a while. On a good hot summer day with no moister or rain it does do it at all. A few weeks ago I backed out my drive way it was raining and it did it. So I decided to pull back into my driveway and take my fiance's car to town. When I was pulling up it locked up when I trying to stop and slid into the corner of my home. No major damage was done just cracked the front bumper. I have taking it to 3 local macnics. None know how to fix. They looked at the breaks, rotors and hubs. All was fine. One macanic told me this was the 3 time he has seen this on the same exact kind of truck. I do like the truck. But I'm terrified to drive it. I thought about selling it, but now I'm in a situation where if someone gets hurt in it I would feel horrible. I sure hope someone on here can help me out with this problem.

I just recently purchase this used vehicle and while coming to a stop or applying the brake the vehicle accelerated instantly at the same time brake pedal was pushed. I was wearing boots at the time and the toe of the boot does stick out further then my slip on shoes. This happen twice both times while wearing boots. I tried to observe what may be the cause although I was approaching stopped vehicles at the time. I recreated the movement while parked in neutral, engine running and wearing boots. The same thing happen. What happens is the toe of my boots push the accelerator as I pushed the brake pedal and it moved down toward the accelerator pedal. It appears to be a design issue as the accelerator and brake pedal are very close to the same level. The accelerator pedal should be further down and away from the break pedal. All is well if the center of the brake pedal is pushed with shoes in vertical position although in and emergency it could be contacted off center.
Tl-the contact owns a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. The contact stated that while driving approximately 34 mph while traveling down a mountain road, the brake pedal was applied and the vehicle fish tailed causing the vehicle to crash into the guard rail. The driver's side curtain air bag and passenger's dash board air bags deployed. The contact also stated that a flame came out of the passenger's side air bag when it deployed. The police report was filed and the contact sustained neck and back injuries which required medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000. Ne.
Parked vehicle. Turned off ignition. Key would not release from the ignition. Cycled the auto shift lever to make sure in park. At this point noted that I could shift out of park without my foot being on the brake. Very dangerous. I was able to remove the key by pulling the ignition fuse. I pulled the fuse and removed the key. Reinstalled the fuse. Was still able to shift out of park without my foot on the brake. I left the car sitting for a while and noted that the battery had completely drained down. I was able to jump the car off to start it. If I leave the ignition fuse in, the battery will completely drain down again.

2003 Ford explorer sportrac, intermittently brake pedal goes to floor, pedal vibrates, unable to stop. No accident yet but very scary situation. Scheduled to have dealer inspect on 8/8/2011. This has happened several times. No error codes on vehicle diagnostics. This could cause a serious accident!!.
I was at the yield sign at the feeder lane approaching the nasa bypass in webster, texas when I applied my brakes as another car was ahead of me and had stopped. Instead of braking, my vehicle accelerated and I run into the rear of the car ahead. The cause of the problem is the design in the vehicle. The brake pedal when depressed is lower than the accelerator pedal and they are too close together. If the brake is not applied exactly right a person can unintentionally hit the accelerator pedal. The vehicle is a 2007 Ford explorer sports trac truck.
The front disc brakes on my 2007 Ford sporttrac makes a loud squealing noise when I apply my brakes. I took the vehicle to the Ford dealer and was told that my brakes were in perfect condition. I am concerned about my safety when I apply the brakes.
When you brake with the right foot sometimes the brake pedal will go low enough so the the right foot hits the gas pedal causing the car not to stop.
I have a 2007 Explorer Sport Trac XLT into of server for fall in the brakes, the bob of engineer stated what was the most common fault in this vehicle, today have â¡40 daysâ¡ and the pcm in the vehicle cant be repaired by the shop. Description of the problem: when trying to step on the brakes, the vehicle tends to slip this can possibly cause an accident when I spoke with other Ford owners.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. While accelerating, the rear brakes locked and caused the rear tires to drag. Both the abs and traction control lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The dealer stated that the shaft assembly (part number fp-7l2z4k138a) failed and caused the back end to lock while driving 15 mph. The failure has occurred twice. The contact purchased the vehicle for safety and no longer feels safe driving the vehicle. The failure mileage was 6,821.
No accident yet but. . . . Brakes on my vehicle are very soft. Brake pedal when applied goes below the accelerator pedal. Accelerator and brake pedal are very close to each other. Unless operator is very careful to move right foot completely over to brake pedal the proximity of the two pedals and the softness or amount of brake pedal travel below the accelerator, the operator presses the accelerator and the brake at the same time. No amount of pressure to the brakes will stop the vehicle because the harder the brake is pressed the more the accelerator is activated. I have personally come close to hitting vehicles ahead of me due to this condition. Corrective action to release pedals and re locate foot on break is nearly impossible in stop many situations. I have returned this vehicle to a number of factory dealerships who advise brakes are within specifications. I have complained to customer service to only be told to take it to an authorized dealership. I have written the company. I am totally ignored. Ford has to be very aware of Toyota but ignores this perhaps identical situation. Your next entry does not allow me to accurately identify a date because it happens on a regular basis since I purchase the vehicle new in 2007. I just picked a date.
