The contact owns a 1997 Ford f150. While driving 25 mph, the contact applied the emergency right hand brake and the rotor sheared off the hub. The failure occurred a second time while driving 25 mph. During this failure, the left hand brake was applied and the rotor failed. A mechanic has repaired the failure and Ford stated that they never heard of this before. The purchase date was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 92,000.

Found l/f brake rotor w/ large crack in it extending from the center of the hub to the rim. R/f was previously found cracked 10,000 miles ago. What would happen if the rotor fell apart while traveling down the interstate?.

4 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2000

Found r/f rotor w/ crack in it extending from center of hub to outer rim. Crack wide enough to stick a penny in.

5 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 06/03/1997

Making sharp left turn heard loud metal noise. Noticed front end dropped. Mechanic did not find problem at first. Noticed upper control arm had bent. Had front end aligned, wheel bearings had overheated/rotors warped. Needed truck checked.

6 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 03/03/1997

When applying the brakes under normal braking situation on wet road surface, the front wheels lock up and the truck will slide about 6-8 feet before stopping. Brake rotors were out of round. The rotors were cut down. One year and six months later, owner experienedthe same problem with brake system. Not taken to dealership for this problem.

Defective front rotors, causing vehicle to vibrate when brakes are applied. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that rotors needed to be turned. Consumer refused, would like replacement instead. Please feel free to provide any further details.

8 Brake Disc Rotor problem

When driving at 30 mph, right side brake rotor which is attached on hub has separated, causing vehicle to sway to one side, and almost resulting in a near accident. Consumer has contacted dealer.

9 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Consumer stated the brake pedal experienced pulsation while driving. The service center stated the brake rotors were warped. The dealer failed to inform the buyer of the problem prior to purchase. Scc.

10 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Front brake rotors warped, causing vibration when applying brakes. Also drums replaced.

11 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Vehicle was manufactured without rotor shields. In rainy conditions water will splash onto brakes, causing the vehicle to pull to the right. Only one brake will grab. Dealer has put on missing shields.
