Five problems related to brake pedal and linkage have been reported for the 1997 Ford F-150. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving and upon applying brakes, experienced. Acceleration due to brake pedal traveling too far down, just below accelerator pedal, which at some point are activated simultaneously while braking. Dealer has made several attempts to correct.
Brake pedal goes to floor when at idle.
Brake/gas pedal depressed simultaneously when backing up causing sudden acceleration. (qcaw).
Gas and brake pedals are too close together, when stepping on brakes, the brakes go below the gas pedal, making it difficult to stop vehicle. Consumer states it has been this way since purchase.
Brake pedal depressed lower than gas pedal by a large amount, causing both pedals to depress, resulting in acceleration.
