The contact owns a 1997 Ford F-150. While driving 60 mph, the contact heard a loud popping noise coming from the vehicle's hood. He was able to drive the vehicle home, but was unable to restart the vehicle once he shut it off. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic who stated that coolant was found in the cylinders due to a cracked head gasket or a crack in the cylinder. The mechanic installed a remanufactured engine and there have not been any more failures. The current mileage is 99,600 and failure mileage was 98,780.

Vehicle's engine has severe motor damage. While driving, the engine began to make a ticking sound which developed into a loud knocking noise. The gauges showed a rapid lost of oil and a rising temperature, but not to a critical level. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic where it was determined that the damage was caused by a broken piston rod that had exited the motor through the oil pan.
While driving heared a clicking noise that gradually got louder and louder. Took vehicle to dealer , and they said it may be the motor. Consumer had just taken car in a couple of days before for recall repairs. 2 days later, this clicking noise started.
Upon starting vehicle consumer heard a tapping noise. Then the noise became louder. Engine head gasket developed a leak which caused water to get into the engine. As a result, after a period of time, the piston connecting rod snapped. Dealership indicated this was a common problem with this engine. To correct the problem the engine has to be replaced.
