Front Suspension Leaf Spring problems of the 1997 Ford F-150

Three problems related to front suspension leaf spring have been reported for the 1997 Ford F-150. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Front Suspension Leaf Spring problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2002

Nhtsa# 8719-98-v-095-161-000 rear leaf spring, the center leaf of the sppring can fracture at the forward edge of the spring seat. Consumer states vehicle has a noise and the spring is falling apart. Dealer has been notified. Ts.

2 Front Suspension Leaf Spring problem

Bottom leaf spring has moved to the outside of the truck. Dealer replaced the leaf spring on the driver's side, and the leaf spring on the passenger's side has been readjusted (3) times and needs readjusting again.

3 Front Suspension Leaf Spring problem

Consumer took vehicle to dealer to get the tires rotated when the mechanic noticed that leaf spring broke. Consumer was concerned that the gas tank could have been punctured.
