Loud Engine Noise problems of the 1997 Ford F-150

1 Loud Engine Noise problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2008

The contact owns a 1997 Ford F-150. The contact stated that when starting the vehicle he noticed that the engine would start knocking and making a loud noise. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic and they advised him that it was a defective motor and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

2 Loud Engine Noise problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2006

No known event leading up to failure. Engine made a loud exploding noise and started popping after explosion. The dealership explained that it was a blown spark plug and that the head had to be replaced. Cost $1600.

3 Loud Engine Noise problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2003

Tl- the contact owns a 1997 Ford f150. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the engine failed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine shot a rod through the oil pan. As a result, the motor crate needed to be replaced. After the repairs the contact heard a loud noise coming from the engine after starting the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturerer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The failure mileage was 82,000. Pmb.
