1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2023

1997 Ford f150, had recall 25527072 05s28 performed in March of 2006. The switch installed as part of the recall has failed and brake fluid has leaked from the switched and the harness. It is not apparent that the switch is leaking until the harness connector is removed from the switch. The integrity of the brake system is compromised and the previous recall was for fires because of brake fluid in the wire harness.

My truck was turned off in my driveway for about an hour and it caught on fire under the hood. A neighbor came to tell us and the fire department had to come put out the fire.

Tl- the contact owns a 1997 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while parked, the vehicle suddenly burst into flames. The fire department extinguished the fire. A fire report was file. 4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2013

The contact owns a 1997 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle unexpectedly increased acceleration to 90 mph. The gear lever was shifted into neutral and the engine began to rev as the vehicle suddenly fish-tailed. As a result, the rear of the vehicle crashed into a nearby median barrier. The vehicle continued to accelerate for another 5 miles. The contact shifted from drive to neutral repeatedly, and the vehicle reduced speed and was maneuvered to a safe location. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the technician informed the contact that the floor mat was trapped under the accelerator pedal, causing the abnormal acceleration failure. The contact stated that the floor mat was never positioned under the accelerator pedal when the failure occurred. The vehicle remained at the dealer for further investigation. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

My 1997 Ford f150 started on fire in the parking lot of my employer, fifteen minutes after I parked the vehicle from a 5 mile round trip. The fire started under the hood and quickly moved into the cab of the truck before the fire department put out the fire. When inspecting the engine area with the fire department, the exact area of where the fire started could not be determined. Luckily, no one, including myself, was injured, and the vehicle was not in our home when it started on fire. I would like to have the vehicle inspected, and if necessary, seek recourse, but I don't know how to proceed.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

The contact owns a 1997 Ford F-150. While driving 3 mph in rainy weather, the vehicle suddenly began to accelerating. The rear wheel began spinning and the vehicle accelerated to 120 mph. The contact shifted into neutral and the engine stopped revving. The contact called two dealers who advised him to take the vehicle in for diagnosis. The manufacturer had not been notified. The contact owns a 1997 Ford f150. He received a recall notice for the vehicle speed control (NHTSA campaign id #07v336000). As of March 25, 2008, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle because the part is unavailable. The contact stated that he is very unhappy with the delay. The current mileage was 123,000 and there had been no failure to date. The VIN appeared to be invalid.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem

The contact owns a 1997 Ford F-150. Approximately 45 minutes after parking the vehicle, the contact heard a popping sound. He looked out the window and noticed flames a foot high above the hood of his vehicle. The fire ultimately spread to the passenger compartment and part of the bed of the vehicle. The fire damaged three other vehicles that were parked in the vicinity. A police report was filed. The current and failure mileages were 215,000.

The contact owns a 1997 Ford F-150. The contact received Ford recall notice number 05s28 for the vehicle speed control in December of 2007. The dealer continues to stated that they do not have the parts for the recall repair and are unsure as to when they will be available. The manufacturer stated that the part will be available in June of 2008. There had been no failure to date. The current mileage was 169,000.

The contact owns a 1997 f150 Ford pickup truck. The contact received a safety recall notice for the vehicle speed control in August of 2007. As of March 24, 2008, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle. The current mileage was 156,000 and there had been no failure to date. Updated 4/23/08 the consumer stated while trying to get the recall work performed on the vehicle he is informed there aren't any parts available to perform the recall each time the consumer calls to schedule a recall repairs. The contact owns a 1997 Ford f150. She received a recall notice for the vehicle speed control (NHTSA campaign id #08v051000) in June 2007. The dealer disconnected the vehicle speed control but was unable to provde a date when the part would be available. As of may 2, 2008, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle. The current mileage was 131, 298 and there had been no failure to date.

My Ford f150 1997 was parked in my driveway when the alarms sounded. I checked and thought at first someone might be trying to steal the truck then. I then saw it was on fire. I got the water hose and told my wife to call the fire dept. She also called a couple of our neighbors to help. The vfd came along with the sheriff and deputy sheriff. No one was injured, but the truck was totaled.

My Ford truck accelerated uncontrollably just like the toyotas. I filed a complaint with you guys, twice, and never heard back. 18 Vehicle Speed Control problem

- the contact stated that her 1997 Ford F-150 XLT had a problem with the throttle. The contact stated that on cold days while driving at 50 mph the accelerator pedal stayed down and became stuck when trying to come to a stop. Also, while driving at this speed and trying to come to a stop or slowing down the accelerator pedal continued to go at a high speed. There was recall 96v251000 for the vehicle speed control. She contacted the manufacturer, and they informed her that the vehicle was not on the recall due to the VIN. Took the vehicle to the dealership, and found that there was a service bulletin on the vehicle ,and she thought that she should be reimbursed for the repairs due to the faulty throttle. The current and failure mileage were both 11500. Updated 04/05/07.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2006

The contact owns a 1997 Ford, f150 pickup. The vehicle speed control switch failed while driving without warning. While activated he depressed the brakes, and then pressed reset, but it would not turn back on. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician stated that since the warranty expired, and there were no recalls, he was not provided with any assistance. The failure mileage was 193,901.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Dt this Saturday July 9th, my vehicle caught fire up under the hood, the vehicle setting in the yard. It had been setting there for about a hour. Have contacted Ford they are having a consumer contact me. The fire started on the drivers side and that where most of the damage is. Melted everything up under the hood was able to put it out before it got to the cab of the vehicle.

While at a stop vehicle accelerated at a high rate. Consumer turned off the vehicle in order to stop acceleration.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem

The vehicle accelerated twice on it's own. The first incident occurred at 20 mph, the driver shifted to neutral and stood on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The distance traveled was about one city block. The second time the vehicle accelerated it was at 55 mph while passing another vehicle, the driver again shifted to neutral, and the engine kept revving. The driver was unable to slow the vehicle by applying the brakes. The driver then placed his foot under the accelerator pedal to pull it up.

I still have the original rims and tire size ,and my speedometer is off by eight miles per hour. My speedometer says I am going eight miles per hour slower than I really am.

Consumer was getting ready to turn around, had put on brakes, then all of a sudden car statrted to race. Consumer had to push harder on the brakes, then back tires started spinning as though they were going to take off if front brakes were not working. Consumer felt that car would have tooken off. Consumer had to put car in park.

29 Vehicle Speed Control problem

See prior reprt. Sudden failure while vehicle traveling at 35mph caused truck to shift into "4x4 low range" causing increased rpm's and rapid deceleration of truck. Could have caused accident if it had happened on highway. $515. 60 amount listed on damages is cost to replace module. At this time no other damage (transmission ?) is known to have occured to the vehicle.

30 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Consumer started vehicle, but didn't put it in gear, but car took off and went into the intersection. Hit three vans, two of them were demolished. From the impact, the third vehicle stopped the car . There was one person injured.

While applying the brakes the vehicle accelerated. Driver stopped the vehicle by applying the emergency brake. The manufacturer has been notified.

Consumer is experiencing problem with intermittent high acceleration while driving. Vehicle been in/out of dealer shop on several occasions, and the problem cannot be resolved or reproduced.

Throttle position sensor fails continually causing power hesitation.

Throttle sensor is defective. Incident occurred five times. Dealer has replaced the chip and the problem still exists.

35 Vehicle Speed Control problem

While decelerating engine race up to 5 to 6 rpm, causing rear tire to smoke . The only way to stop vehicle from going through the intersection is to turn the iginition key off.
