One problem related to manual transmission shift pattern indicator has been reported for the 1998 Ford F-150. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Gear shift indicator snapped in nashville, TN on crosscountry trip from arizona to maryland, stranding us 36 hours in nashville. Gear shift indicator would not go into park. Cable fixed, but it must have taken out our alarm system and steering wheel locking mechanism. Steering wheel will not lock unless you yank it 900 to the right or left. Koons Ford in annapolis, MD, told us this was "normal" on the locking problem, and that four other vehicles on their lot do the same thing. ¿!@#$%. We now have an appointment on sept 1 for them to repair the locking mechanism after my daughter called them this past wheel completely unable to unlock the steering column. Ford service is an oxymoron. There is no such thing.
