Two problems related to brake drum shoes/linings have been reported for the 1999 Ford F-150. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
: the contact stated while applying pressure to the brakes there was a metal to metal noise. The vehicle was taken to dealer for inspection where they determined the rear brake adjuster, cable guide and adjuster lever were the problem. The brake drum cable was too short would not allow the brakes to adjust. The manufacturer has not been alerted.
Vehicle experienced rear wheel lock up during a panic stop situation, vehicle slid and consumer nearly lost control, dealer stated there was a service bulletin regarding replacement of the rear brake shoes, this was to make the abs function, consumer feels he should not have been charged for these repairs.
