general problems of the 2000 Ford F-150

The contact owns a 1991 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, the vehicle was sluggish. The contact stated that the vehicle operated as needed after warming up. The contact stated upon refueling the vehicle, the gasoline would splash out of the fuel tank filler neck and onto the gas pump. There was no warning light illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 142,000.

The manufacturer was called and stated the vehicle was included in a recall regarding the vehicle speed control, however the contact found a possible NHTSA recall # 06e056000 regarding the fuel system, gasoline that related more to the fire that occurred on the vehicle. However, the vehicle was not included in this recall due to the VIN. The manufacturer was not claiming responsibility nor provided further assistance. The vehicle was deemed totaled.
