I was driving and the speed would go up to 90 mph, the truck was not going the speed in reality. Then the rpm's would go up really high, I stopped the truck put it in park and back in drive tried to drive off. The truck then would not go over 30 mph and the gas peddle was all the way down trying to go, the engine started smoking and when I pulled over opened the hood it was smoking from the driver side upper corner of the truck. After having a mechanic look at it, he said the break pressure switch needed to be replaced because it's a hot wire and it's leaking. After checking the Ford VIN check it didn't say my truck was apart of the recall but they year and make and model is. I'm confused and at this point don't want to put my children in a fire ball like that if it catches on fire. . .
This is follow up assessment to my 9/22/2019 claim # 11257244 - where I found myself in a very dangerous vehicle run away situation that resulted in a rear end accident with another vehicle. My mechanic's first observation when turn ignition key, the engine raced at full throttle out of control. After quickly shutting down engine the symptoms lead my mechanic to test the idle air control valve. Having never seen this dangerous symptom from a bad iacv, he continued to do further test on the iacv only to determine the part was indeed defective. After diagnosing the problem, the defective iacv part was quickly replaced. The engine is now running good again. If you need to contact my mechanic: dugan auto service, narvon PA - doug miller 464-798-8097.
The truck simply shut down while I was driving. The engine stopped running. For a period of about a month prior to this action, the truck would sometimes, randomly, not start. After waiting a period of time the truck would start.

While pulling up to a stop light my truck started popping and shaking. I pulled over and opened the hood to find out a spark plug had blown out of the motor. It exploded with such force it broke the coil over housing on the head. I have called Ford and they say they don't know of any issues of this. It is all over the internet about it. They are in court right now over the 2005 and up vehicles having the same issue. I am the original owner and have never had to replace the plugs so they are straight from the factory, and the truck has only 123,000 miles on it. It is now going to cost me over $400. 00 to fix this one plug with no guarantee it won't happen to any other plugs. I'm retired on social security and cannot afford a new truck payment, or continue to fix their defects.

The spark plug on the passenger side of my vehicle exploded out of the head as soon as I started the vehicle breaking the coil pack in the process. About 6months ago, cruising about 60mph; heard a "pop", lost engine power, engine light on,. . . Pulled over and discovered #3 cylinder missing the spark plug and the cop broken. Driving home from the river towing my boat a spark plug blew out of the engine with no warning leaving me stranded in the middle of the desert.
Was driving my vehicle and the spark plug was blown out of the engine. Could have caught on fire. Never heard of this happing before until the tow truck driver told me his expedition with a tritonv8 did the same thing. Dealer wanted $700 to fix the spark plug and $1200 total to replace all coil packs and plugs which is ridiculous for a non-custom pick up truck. What if my wife would have been driving and not known what to do? it could have caught fire or caused a crash. The dealer rattled off the estimate like they do it all the time which tells me this is a defect in manufacturing and why has this not been recalled?.
While driving at 15 mph cylinder #5 spark plug liberated it self from the engine.
The spark plugs were blown out of the heads; the threaded portion of the head was stripped; heli coils were used to correct the problem; this happened three times now in less than a month.

2002 f150 harley davidson edition with only 75,000 miles blew a spark plug out of the head. Ford admits no culpability even though they have TSB's. Estimate to repair plug & change out other 7 spark plugs with 8 new coils was $2800. I could almost purchase a new engine for that. Found a reputable garage to do the work for around $900 total. Understand that I should get used to this happening until all 8 spark plug holes have been repaired. Ford man for 35 years. Own 3 currently. If dependability is no longer a priority for Ford don't know what I will do.

Engine quits running and wont restart, so you have no power steering or brakes. Problem indicators are 1. Engine wont restart/ or quit running 2. Odometer reads all dashes, no numbers,3. Anti theft activated. This is caused by the power wire in the fuse box under the hood corroding off for the pcm relay and leaving the pcm dead.
Spark plug blew on my f150 king ranch.
On March 22, 2014, the truck was parked in a local parking lot, the ignition key was removed and the truck was locked. The driver returned to the truck to find that while it was parked, a fire had begun in the engine compartment of the truck, and the fire department and police department were on the scene putting out the fire. Because of the quick actions of an individual parked nearby who used a fire hose to contain the fire until the fire department arrived, the cabin and the body of the truck were spared, and the damage was localized to the engine compartment. The cause of the fire was the speed control deactivation switch.
Engine threw a spark plug out of the hole, broke the mount for the coil pack. This is the third time I have had this issue.
Another spark plug blew out of cylinder head taking threads with it. Possible fire hazard as fuel spews into engine compartment with live sparks close by.
#4 spark plug blew out of the engine. Stripping the threads from the block.
I was driving about 60 mph on a county road when the number 3 spark plug blew out of the cylinder head. I was able to stop safely, but the incident scared my 5 year old daughter. Because of the plug blowing out me and my daughter were stuck on the side of the road for about an hour in the florida sun waiting on someone to come and get us and the truck. I called around and several repair shops stated it would cost me between $700 and a $1000. After doing extensive research online I discovered this is a major problem for the 5. 4 triton engine. I called Ford and they said the repair cost would be on me to fix. I feel that there needs to be a recall because of this defect in the cylinder head.
