1 Axle Shaft problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2007

2004 Ford F-150 supercrew 4x4 has drive train problems. Upon accelerating from stop, transaxle does not seem to engage correctly, casuing a noise, and feeling as if trcuks drive sahft is coming out of transaxle. Possibly covered under NHTSA item numbers: 10020175 and 10018951. This has been a reoccuring issue with this truck since I have owned it, with documentation.

2 Axle Shaft problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2004

Clunking sound in the transmission area, when turning corners and/or slowing down and the truck is shifting into a lower gear. As soon as I give it gas I will get the clunking sound again ( it is a very hard sound). The dealership and Ford says this is typical, and all of the trucks do this. Ford remedy-lube the yoke. This does not work or solve the problem.

3 Axle Shaft problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2004

I have a 2004 F-150 supercrew and have noticed a vibration/shudder in the rear end between speeds of 25-45 mph since inception. Once over 50 mph it seems to disipate. Also experiencing the occassional nibble at the steering wheel. I was planning on taking it in but I don't think I'll waste my time since Ford hasn't been able to make an exact determination of its cause according to the other complaints I've read on your site. Love the truck-hate the shudder/vibration!!!.
