The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the accelerator pedal became stuck to the bottom of the floorboard and there was a sudden acceleration failure. The contact mentioned that the brakes were depressed but failed to stop the vehicle. The vehicle crashed into a boulder in a river. A police report was filed. There were no injuries reported. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure and current mileage was 86,000.

The contact had to apply excessive force to the brakes and shift into neutral in order to get the vehicle to stop. The consumer stated he experienced sudden acceleration about four times during the 4 1/2 he has owned the truck. There were minimal rpm's created and he was previously told to hold the truck with the brake and shift into neutral. The truck would then decelerate. However, the last time the incident occurred, the consumer was unable to stop the truck and it accelerated into an intersection. The consumer stated the incidents occurred when the vehicle was cold, or hadn't been driven very far.
