Car Accelerates On Its Own problems of the 2005 Ford F-150

The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the accelerator pedal became stuck to the bottom of the floorboard and there was a sudden acceleration failure. The contact mentioned that the brakes were depressed but failed to stop the vehicle. The vehicle crashed into a boulder in a river. A police report was filed. There were no injuries reported. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure and current mileage was 86,000.

An engineer was sent by the manufacturer to install a vehicle registration mark (vrm) in the vehicle to monitor the failure but to no avail. The vrm was removed and the failure recurred shortly afterward. The failure mileage was unknown, but the current mileage was 53,000.
