2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2016

Truck was bought and I replaced all spark plugs and even had to replace a clinoid because was told that was the problem. Its not. . . There is a ball valve in the transmission that keeps the truck from building enough pressure to be able to shift which throws a code and says misfire on 6 been replaced twice now so clearly not the problem. This is a major issue. . Truck feels as if fixing to fie then check engine light will come on start flashing but throw no codes and you cant speed back up because it feels like your truck is about to die and you don't want to blow your motor.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2016

Truck began ticking very loudly, then began a knocking noise, and now the engine shakes the truck when idling. Cam phasers broke apart causing damage to the timing chain. Sudden loss of power to the engine as well as inability to maintain speed while ascending an incline is frequent. The loss of speed and power has caused us several close-call accidents. Truck will simply not accelerate while pressing the gas pedal. Additionally, it also feels like the truck cannot catch gears while in motion.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2015

Driving on interstate doing 70 mph (in fast lane) when truck stopped/stalled and I guess from research went into "limp mode". I was unable to press the gas pedal, it just shook three times each of which slowed it down incredibly, the check engine light was on and a wrench showed up, but the radio still worked. While trying to pull over almost wrecked (memorial day weekend and I was in fast lane). Finally able to pull over to side of road hysterical, shut off and waited a minute and it started. Drove rest of way home miles* with check engine light on and abs light on. I am scared to death to drive again. Not fun having a vehicle stall/quit whatever on interstate in rush hour traffic.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2014

I purchases a used 2005 Ford f150 about 5 months ago. Today, Feb 28, 2014, I was leaving my neighborhood and my trucks display flashed an message reading "engine failsafe mode". My truck lost all power, no steering and died. Luckily I was on surface streets and pulled it over with no power steering and engine dead. The mechanics cannot find the cause and the engine will start but continues to turn off and the vehicle's computer shuts down. Online I read of this happening on the freeway at 65 mph. Iam now terrified that my truck will shut off on the freeway with my children in the truck with me. This seems to be a life threatening problem. I called a Ford dealership and the service dept claimed they never heard of this but can work on it if I bring it in. What is my recourse? thank you.

The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure and current mileages were approximately 106,000.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2012

While approaching a stop during a heavy rain shower I brought the vehicle to a complete stop about 10 feet from the vehicle in front of me. Suddenly, the vehicle accelerated forward. I pressed harder on the brake and the vehicle jerked and shuddered violently. My first thought was that I was struck from behind by another vehicle. I was issued a violation from louisiana state police for following too closely. My belief is that the shuddering was the effect of the anti lock brakes activating. The damage to both vehicles was relatively minor. The vehicle was checked for a defect but none could be found.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2012

On three separate occasions, my Ford 2005 f150 king ranch supercrew 4x4 engine suddenly died while driving at approximately 55-60mph. On all three occasions, I fortunately was able to pull over to the side of the road with the engine died and no power steering. If I had not been in the right hand lane and able to pull off of the road, then an rear engine collision would more than likely occurred if I would have been in an outer lane of a multiple lane highway. After the third occasion this past week, I took the vehicle to the Ford dealership in rockwall, texas where it cost me $700. 00 to have throttle body/motor assembly replaced. My obd readings at home were p2104 and p2112. If not already, this issue is a fatally waiting to happen. Lots of chatter on internet of similar issues.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2012

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2010

My 2005 Ford f150 loses the ability to use the gas throttle. I can still steer and the engine, lights, air conditioning system, and brake system still work. The has happened about two dozen times starting in oct 2010 and still occuring as of December 2011. I have had to swerve across freeway lanes on several occasions. The wrench sign comes on in the dash. I am able to shut the vehicle off and it turns right back on. The wrench goes away but the check engine light stays on. It really scares me because I visit the mountains in the winter and I am afraid this will happen on the way to the mountain and kill me or my family. I have heard numerous complaints online about this issue and it needs to be fixed.

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2009

I have a 2005 F-150 supercrew. Over the last several months - approximately 70k miles on truck at the time - the vehicle goes into a "fail safe" mode with the codes p2111 and p2104. The accelerator stops working and you have to coast to the side of the road and turn the car off. The orange wrench light comes on. This has happened about 15 times over the last 3 months. It has been very unsafe and concerning, especially when it happens on the highway. I was told it was the throttle body and that there have been numerous complaints. It seems to happen intermittently and without warning. I have taken it to the dealer and contacted Ford who states there is no current issues with this. I am very concerned about the safety of my family and the vehicle and have found numerous complaints on online Ford forums. When I went to order the part, I was advised by my dealer that it was on backorder. That causes me even more concern!! I know I am not the only one who is having this problem and it seems to be a serious safety problem.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2009

The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle would sporadically fail to respond to the contact's attempts to accelerate. The vehicle would slowly accelerate and would feel as if it were dragging. When the failure occurred, the vehicle would not accelerate over 10mph. The dealer cleaned the throttle body and the repair briefly corrected the failure before recurring. The dealer then advised that the entire throttle body would need replacing. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000 and the current mileage was approximately 94,000.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2009

2005 Ford f150 vehicle loses power and all control while driving on the road. This happened at least six times. Very lucky traffic was light most times but one almost a caused rear end collision. I replaced a throttle sensor and the problem disappeared and the problem returned after a couple of weeks. I took it to the dealer and they replaced electronic throttle body and throttle body and motor assembly. They also performed pcm reflash power train control module and retest. The codes received with scan tool were p0121, p2104 and p2112.

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2009

My 2005 Ford F-150 stalled while driving at 30 mph. Accelerator had no response and truck went to idle rpm. Had to coast to the side of the road on a busy street. I consider this very dangerous especially if it happened under different circumstances such as entering an intersection. The dealership fixed it and said it was a problem with the electronic throttle system.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2008

My wife was driving to work when the vehicle loss power at the accelerator pedal, the truck was running but when she tried to depress the accelerator pedal nothing, she said on the dash it said that the vehicle was running in a fail safe mode. She safely made it to a area where she pulled the operators manual out and begin reading. The only fail safe mode she found was about the cooling, the temperature was fine, she called me I told her to turn the vehicle off then restart it she did and it ran fine. I had the vehicle in for a recall for the breaks I ask the dealer to run a diagnostics on it to see about what had happened, also it a had repeated the problem a couple days in a row but only did it in the morning after 20 minutes of driving. The dealer could not find anything wrong with the truck, no codes were showing any issue. The tech said he ran through the system but found nothing he said he reset the computer if it did it again to bring it to the dealer. It did it a couple more times I took it to my mechanic he said it wasn't showing any codes either. I contacted Ford consumer with the issue telling them I just wanted it fixed they said the dealer could not find any code faults and could not repeat it so they Ford could not fix it. My mechanic said that he had the same issue with another 2005 Ford 150 truck he said it was a problem with the electronic accelerator. I'm afraid it's going to do it again and my wife won't be able to prevent getting rear-ended. Also Ford consumer said they didn't show any issues with the accelerator on this vehicle, I know this isn't true by what I've read here on this web site. Please help. . .

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2007

Truck continues accelerating after foot is removed from accelerator pedal. Almost impossible to stop with brake pedal. Had to take out of gear to stop truck. Restarted truck and it operates properly. It has happened three more times since this original occurrence. Ford dealer could find no problem in 2007. Am taking it back again as it has happened twice in the past year.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2006

: the contact stated while applying brake pressure at low speed through a parking lot, the vehicle lurched forward into an embankment without warning. No injuries or damage was sustained. The police was not alerted. The vehicle was driven to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was not contacted. The consumer stated the truck was in park, when he applied the brake to it in gear, the pedal became stuck. Updated 02/22/07.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2006

The first time this happened at 3000 miles, the second time, it was around 19,300 miles and was a bit more intense. I was sitting at the stop light, with foot on brake, the truck started accelerating to the point,I started going into traffic. I then put it in neutral and tapped on the gas pedal to get it to idle down. Luckily I was able to avoid what could have been deadly. I then took it straight to the dealer, where I was told they could not duplicate the problem, and was told I probably had one foot on the brake and the other on the gas, when I told him I drive with one foot, he said my foot could have slipped from the brake to the gas pedal. Every time he came up with a lame excuse as to what could have happened I let him know he was wrong. Nothing was done and was told if it happens again bring it back in and they will look at it. Needless to say I will be taking it to someone else next time or getting a hold of Ford to find a solution.

26 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2006

I was going to meet my husband on the side of the highway to pick up my son. I started slowing down from highway speed of 90kms/hr quite a ways back. I slowed the truck to about 30kms/hr about 40 feet behind his pickup. All of a sudden the truck I was driving gave a couple of lurches, sped up and slammed into the back of my husbands truck. I did not remove my foot from the brake the whole time. There was nothing I could do to stop the truck. On the ground beside the truck there was evidence of something strange going on with the passenger side rear tire. Like it had revved up, braked, revved and braked again. The salesman that sold us the truck came out to the scene and said that he believed something went terribly wrong and spoke to the service manager at lacombe Ford. They were unable to duplicate the problem and could not come up with a cause for the brakes to malfunction like they did. Ford canada did no further testing on the truck. There was $8000 damage to the front end of the f150 and $1000 damage to the other pickup which we have to pay for. We had the damage on the front end repaired and decided to trade it in for something that might not kill me and my family. The day I was taking it in to be traded it failed again, this time at the stop sign at an overpass. Luckily no one was coming that day. Nothing was ever corrected on the truck.

27 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2006

The incident date is the most recent. Truck has only 4200 miles on it. On all four occasions I was braking when it began to accelerated three times at highway speeds, one time on a gravel road. The cruise was not on. I did not have my foot on both the brake and accelerator. The brakes nor the emergency brake would hold it. Acceleration went up to 3000+ rpms and was witnessed by the passenger. I had to shift to neutral to get it stopped. All four times the dealer could not identify the problem nor make it happen again. It is a very unsafe and could have caused a fatality accident. Ford did reprogram the pcm module, but it happened again after that.

28 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2005

Engine accelerated to high speed when braking for red signal. Was forced to put automatic transmission in neutral and tap accelerator to reduce engine speed to idle. The tachometer read approximately 4000 rpm when put in neutral initially. Brakes stopped the truck with difficulty prior to putting gear in neutral. No known tsbs and dealer not sure how to duplicate.

29 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2005

There was a problem with the vehicle surging forward. On September 25, 2005 the vehicle surged forward , causing the vehicle to run a stop sign. There was no accident. On October 3, 2005 it surged forward again. The engine was on and it was in park. Then, the consumer put vehicle into reverse and immediately it surged backwards. Because of the consumer's foot was o the brake it kept the vehicle from going into the street. The consumer concerned because it could have caused him to have two major accidents. When he took vehicle to the dealership, they could not find the cause of the problem.

30 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2004

The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-150. While driving 70 mph, the contact released the accelerator pedal, however, the rpm would not decrease until the brakes were applied. If the brakes were not applied, the rpm would drop a half mile later. The dealer stated that there was no failure. The failure mileage was 5,000 and current mileage was 27,000. The consumer stated that when the car is started the rpm goes to 1400rpm when the ignition is off it returns to 0. Updated 11/06/07.
