7 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2010

My driver's side window on my 2005 Ford F-150 won't roll up anymore. While doing research for parts I noticed that this is a very common problem with this particular vehicle. The part that is used is defective and should be recalled. It is unsafe for my babies and myself to have to constantly have the window down. The cost to fix the problem is around $500-$900 dollars. I am afraid that in the event of an accident I or my children could be seriously injured without the window in place. Ford needs to take responsibility and correct a defect.

8 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2010

Driver side window was in the up position but dropped into the panel while the vehicle was in motion. Vehicle was taken to the garage where I was informed the window regulator was bad. Window could have shattered, injuring driver and passenger in the back seat, or, causing an accident.

9 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2010

2005 f150 just replaced the second window regulator in the past 4 months. Driving down the highway heard a loud snap and window fell into the door. This is a costly and concerning problem.

11 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2010

Was driving down highway, went to let driver window up, the window slams up very fast, made this loud popping sound than falls to the bottom of door, it would not go back up or down, it really scared me didn't no what was going on. Had to put foiled paper in window to keep it up. All you can here is something moving inside but window will not move. This could really be a safety issue.

12 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2010

Window failure/falling into door: 1. No known specific event, car was parked when failure occurred without human intervention. 2. Driver side front window falling into door and passenger side rear window failure. Luckily driver side window has not broken/shattered, but has only fallen into door and did not distract driver when driving in traffic. 2a. After inspecting each window also found passenger rear window is loose and freely moves. 3. Dealer explained problem is common and likely that it is the window regulator and/or components. Dealer is charging $450 to repair driver side window.

13 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

Your site shows a high number of complaints on the vehicle I own, a 2005 Ford F-150, in which people are startled when a side window on this vehicle "pops" loud enough to be a gunshot, then falls into the doorframe. In reading their complaints you can see how lucky some of them where to avoid an accident. Much less having to pay ~$400. To have it repaired by Ford. This clearly is a design flaw that should be corrected and paid for by Ford motor CO. My question to you is, why haven't you investigated this matter yet???.

14 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2009

I was driving home from work at 0530 when driver window suddenly dropped. It was the window regulator that broke. That wasn't the only incident all window regulators broke within a year after that and just recently the driver window broke again. So that a total of 5 window regulator that broke in my truck. A definite manufacturer defect.

15 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2009

For the second time the window in my Ford f150 crashed down into the door panel. Cost me $450 atford dealer to fix. Dealer service rep told me this would happen when the vehicle was in warranty but Ford wont recall and they know the problem exists. My estimate is 4,000,000 vehicles at least ,2004-07,08.

16 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2009

In the middle of a rainy night, the window of my parked 2005 Ford f150 fx4 simply fell into the door, leaving my interior to be soaked.

17 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2009

Defective window regulator on driver side rear door, window fell inside of door. Regulator had to be replaced. Cost $413. 00.

18 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2009

I was driving my 2005 Ford f150 and all of a sudden bam sounded as if someone through something at my passenger window. The noise startled me so bad I ended up swerving into the next lane and almost crashing, come to find out; my window fell into the door and is now broken. Upon looking into the situation I have realized many other complaints online about power window regulator. Things like this need to be recalled and taken care of for the safety of the driver.

19 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2009

Windows fall out and crash into the door panel.

20 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2009

Owner of a 2005 Ford f150 supercrew 4x4. I cannot say that any particular event lead up to the failure of this issue. The passenger side rear power window fell inside the door due to a defect in the window lift assembly. Apparently a cable came loose that supports the window and it will no longer stay up. This creates a huge safety issue for my children in the backseat, not to mention theft and weather concerns. As far as repair, I contacted the local Ford dealership only to find out the replacement cost for repairs, which was close to $400. 00. I balked at that having this repaired currently and simply duct taped the window up to at least prevent rain from entering the vehicle. I have not attempted to fix this issue myself (cannot without $200 part), but the part in question is still installed on my vehicle. Upon further research, it appears that this is a very common problem with this vehicle and Ford is doing nothing to remedy this problem. Some owners have had 2-3 windows with the same problem. It does not appear to be a "wear" issue. I believe a plastic clip that holds a cable deteriorates and becomes faulty over time regardless of use. I would definitely not consider this a "maintenance-type" item.

21 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2009

2005 Ford F-150 fx4 - driverside window/door, heard a loud pop in the door and the window (in the up position) dropped to the bottom of the door. This occurred while traveling on interstate 235 in iowa at an approximate speed of 70 mph. This incident could have very easily caused a fatal accident.

22 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2009

Leading up to the event I noticed friction noise when operating left front power window. On the freeway I heard wind noise which sounded like the window had cracked open. As I reached for the up down switch the window dropped into the door. I was quite startled. When I got home I googled the internet to find numerous complaints on the F-150 power windows. I taped the window shut and am now investigating repair options.

23 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2009

Window regulator assembly in driver's door failed.

24 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2009

26 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2009

I drove away from an atm went to put window up here loud ringing noise and window would not go all the way up. Then a few minutes later I heard a loud popping noise and notice window had fallen into door and. Would not return to the closed position. The noise was loud enough to cause grandson sitting in car seat in back of vehicle to start crying. If there would have been foul weather the inside of vehicle would have gotten soaked as well as a hazard of grandson getting injured from possibility of something entering vehicle through open window opening.

27 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2009

Driving down the road at about 30 mph I heard wind blowing into my 2005 Ford F-150 and noticed that the right rear window had fell down about half way I tried to roll up the window with no success. I had to tape the window so that it would stay in the up position. The truck only has about 30,000 miles and this is the second window I have had to repair. This was very troubling to me that my window could just fall down with no one pushing the button or anything. I wondered what if my truck was just parked in a parking lot and this occurred someone could easily steal everything in my vehicle. I looked on the internet to see if anyone else was having this problem and found thousands of people have had the same problem. The window regulators on the 2004 and 2005 F-150's are faulty and dangerous. And it is time that someone make Ford take responsibility for their faulty equipment.

At 47,296 miles the right rear window of my Ford f150 crew cab fell down into the door and would no longer operate. I paid 416. 00 to repair at a Ford dealership. At 48312 the left rear window has fallen inside the door and will not operate. I will be facing another 400+ in repairs.

33 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2008

My passenger window fell down inside the door frame. This is the second time this has happened. The first time I was going down the highway and the drivers window fell down in the door. It was pouring out an I couldn't see where I was going with the rain blowing inside. I pushed the window up button and nothing happened. I took it to the dealer and it was 240. 00 to get fixed. Im lucky it wasn't raining this time. I hope Ford motor is looking at this issue. This is a real safety concern while driving in bad weather, just to have the window fall down with no warning!! thanks.

34 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2008

My 2005 Ford f150 just dropped the driver side window down into the door due to the poorly designed faulty window regulator. From searching the web this is a well known defect that is abundant in f150's. This is a safety hazard as this happened in rush hour traffic and I thought I had been shot at and drove off the road into a ditch and banged my shoulder. This is well known to be an issue and is a major safety hazard. This needs to be recalled before someone gets killed!.

35 Visibility problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2008

This has happened two times now. While driving, I hear loud pop or bang and then the window will fall into the door. This has happened on the passenger side and drivers side. This nearly caused an accident because I thought someone was shooting at me. It startled me quite badly. Ford should be required to issue a recall on these window regulators. Parts are available to repair, but the repair does not permanently fix the problem. This is dangerous because most people cover the window with plastic while waiting for the repair. If they can't afford the repair they may drive around for weeks or months with a plastic window that completely blocks visibility.
