When you purchase a new vehicle you expect to get more than 106000 miles.
While approaching a stop the truck gauges started going crazy. Truck stalled but restarted with gauges still acting crazy. All gauges would bottom out and come back up and radio was turning on and off. Replaced battery but only stalling issue was resolved. Took to local Ford dealer but since the truck only does this randomly, they were not able to diagnose the problem. Truck runs perfectly but gauges and radio still go on and off making it extremely annoying to drive. Very frustrating to know that so many other Ford owners have the same problem but no solution has been offered from Ford.

According to the model year Ford f150 maintenance manual, spark plugs are to be changed every 100,000mi. Just prior to this mileage for removal and replacement of the spark plugs the engine started to develop a misfire. Ford has recognized the problem with the spark plugs and the difficulty to remove them. This known maintenance issue led Ford to provide a TSB on the issue. This misfire has almost caused me to stall several times while towing a 7,000lb boat. This is dangerous and creates a safety issue for myself and the motorists around me. I express concern that Ford should be replacing these defective plugs with updated designs before tragedies start to happen. This engine/spark plug design entered service in 2004 and vehicles, like mine, will begin to experience serious safety related incidents if it is not addressed.

The number 3 spark plug was blown out of the cylinder head. This is the second occurrence of the same spark plug. The first incident occurred on 10/21/2011 at 82781 miles. The first repair was completed by mike naughton Ford in aurora CO. The mechanic installed a sleeve into the cylinder head to reinstall a new spark plug. The mechanic explained that this is a known problem because the cylinder head only has 3-4 threads for the spark plug to screw into.

During routine maintenance spark plug change six of the oem installed sparkplugs broke off in the cylinder head of the engine. Ford dealer admits to having problems with this design engine and states this occurs often. Ford dealer stated that Ford admits an issue with this design sparkplug and has a TSB detailing the procedure for broken plug removal but has issued no formal recall. Dealer advised that Ford also has a "special tool" designed for this 5. 4 3 valve series motor that is engine specific to remove the broken piece of the sparkplug because this happens so often. All but one of the broken plugs was able to be removed using a specialty tool purchased at an automotive parts store. Ford dealer was unable to get the last broken plug extracted from cylinder head with their "special tool". Engine needed to be dissembled and cylinder head removed so that the broken piece could be extracted. This repair cost $1708. 00 to complete. Along with $85. 00 diagnostic fee to tell me they could not get the broken piece out. The repair took two weeks to have completed. I feel that Ford should issue a recall for this issue and they should reimburse me for my costs due to their faulty design flaw.

2006 supercrew 4x4 f150 that began missing and shaking badly along with rich smell of gasoline this morning. Was taken into shop where it later hydrolocked and was now unable to start. Assessment by Ford technician found the engine to have a faulty injector on cylinder 6 that was stuck in the open position allowing fuel to dump directly into cylinder until full and the piston was unable to move anymore apparently resulting in some bent rods according to technician. Was advised that engine was blown and needed $9500 for replacement engine since vehicle was just out of warranty at 56,000 miles. Found out that many of the 2005 models of this vehicle had recalls on the same injectors making this type of repair covered, but my VIN does not show this recall since it a 2006 model. This bothers me because my truck was actually shown to be manufactured in sept 2005 and possibly had the same batch of faulty injectors installed in it.
