While in drive, accelerating to highway speeds or cruising around 30 mph it will downshift and jump to about 4000 pms's and not shift up into 3rd gear. It blown 1 engine and I have replaced the transmissions, taken it to a Ford dealership and they weren't able to help me. I've replaced the ecm and anti-theft modal also and the symptoms still persist. I am I in for over 11k for the new engine and transmission, and another $100 on the ecm and anti-theft modal plus the shop charges. The truck has under 190,000 miles before any of this started. I am the 2nd owner an had for less than 3k miles before any of the problems started. Now I see the 2015-2017 F-150s are having the same problems getting recalled. Is there anything involving the earlier triton's engines?.
Broken fuses baks air conditioning.
There is a very common problem with the brake light always being on due to a short circuit in the cluster, many owners have reported this problem for several manufacturing years, the brake light is always on even though there is no problem with the brakes. This creates a great hazard because if you do have a brake problem since the light is always on you will never know, and you may be in a fatal vehicle accident. Ford motor company should replace or repair all clusters that have this problem. I just purchased this vehicle with this very common problem. Your inspector can google it and will find this is indeed a very common problem.
My 2006 f150 Ford lariat. It started with the front map light are some light not sure what it's called. It would come on by itself just sitting still with engine off. And no one in the truck. It would do this all hours of day and night. Then the door jar light came on going down the hwy. And would not go off. We stop to check all does and they all was shut. It stays on and want go off. Then with all that going on all my power windows stop working. They was working fine but when the dime light problem. And the door a jar light on when you get in the truck and turn key on. I have talk to people that own a Ford and most all Ford's have had this problem. I also have googled these problems and a lot of people have had the same problems. But it hasn't been any recall on these problems. It really needs to be a recall for these problems on Ford's. It's a electrical problem.
Interior lights do not light up on opening the door. Additionally, upon starting the engine, the electrical panel blinks, fizzles, demands reset, which doesn't reset, and eventually corrects itself sometimes after 15 minutes of blinking. Additionally, the high beams implement and then you cannot make the high beams turn off. May all be related but, seems like 3 separate issues, all seem to be related to the electrical panel. Blinking begins while stationary upon starting truck and continues while in motion, indicates problem with everything electrical including speedometer and states auto locks fail, along with blinking failure of all systems stating reset but pushing reset does not appear to fix anything. . . . . Only time fixes it.
Takata recall. For three years of electrical issues, beeping electrical dash panel and lights in truck hardly ever work. The trucks dependability at moment isn't great due to these issues. Can't afford a new truck at time being . . This truck transports my toddlers around. This typically happens when turning on car and opening doors we never see lights on. It does happen also when driving at random times. Not sure if it has anything to do with stopping or turning. Will happen at any rate of speed.
Motor is missing and the codes are p0345, p0349 and p0171.
My truck caught on fire yesterday. Due to a heat shield missing over passenger side catalytic converter caused the plastic grommets that hold the sound barrier material on the floorboard to drop and hang on top of the catalytic converter until the material caught on fire. My insurance company is still investigating how the catalytic converter heat shield was missing. Less than a month after I bought the truck and it was used, they had to do service work on it because I purchased the truck with a broken front coil spring and the transmission dipstick tube had rotted. Even though the truck was missing a heat shield, I believe there should be any kind of flammable material near the catalytic converter just in case a heat shield happens to rot and fall off or for any reason the heat shield is missing . The fire traveled through the material almost to the top of my engine. After I got the flames out it was still smoldering and smoldered up into a space I could not reach to nor see. I also believe a fire retardant system should be created to douse flames in a section of an engine compartment that cannot be reached and would probably save countless lives property and invested money into vehicle and other things that a vehicle on fire could destroy.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-150. After taking the vehicle to a drive thru car wash service, water entered the passenger side. The interior of the passenger side became wet and the air bag warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
Brake light continuously on due to fault in cluster panel. Safety issue in not knowing when there are braking problems.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-150. While driving 15 mph, the vehicle made a loud popping noise and the instrument panel became inoperable. In addition, the rear windows and power locks failed to operate and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 150,000.
After countless hours spent diagnosing a dash brake lite warning. These vehicles factory defect is the electronics board or speedometer cluster. Countless people are driving with a brake light on with nothing possibly wrong. When something does go wrong they may not have a clue until the vehicle has no brakes.
Morning of July 23,2015, I was driving about 25 mpr speed when number three spark plug blow out of the cylanderhead on my F-150 triton v8. Took it to the local machanic shop walton's. Three hours later, walton's had to replace and resleeve number three cylanderhead and replaced electrical sparkplug wire, plus replaced all eight spark plugs. All at a cost of $543. 00. Not only this happened to me but walton's stated that I was the 10th person this week this has happened too. I presented the part to my local Ford dealership where we bought the truck (hall's Ford motor company) brand new in 2006 and paid cash to the sum of $30,000. 00. I asked them if they know of this problem with triton v8's. They stated they did but no know recalls and they too had several repairs come in for the same thing in the pass week. They also stated that the Ford motor company was aware of this matter but never let there customers know about this problem yet because there was no recall on file to let them know. This thing where the spark plugs come flying out of an engine can be very hazards, it could cause a crash or even give a person a heart attack because the truck sounds like world war iii going off under the hood and it may even start a fire. This matter needs to be taken care of by Ford.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for routine maintenance. While at the independent mechanic, the contact was notified that seven of the eight spark plugs in the vehicle were fractured and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that one of the fractured spark plugs remained in the cylinder head. The mechanic stated that the cylinder head had to be removed from the engine to remove the fractured spark plug. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure; however, the contact was not offered a remedy for the failure. The failure mileage was 84,000.
In June 2015, the air bag light in my Ford f150 illuminated, indicating a problem. I took my vehicle to a Ford dealership. They told me that the deployable restraint system, specifically the pretensioner, had malfunctioned and possibly would fail to function as intended in the event of a crash. The service technician indicated that the restraint system is connected to my air bags, which might fail to work in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. After paying the diagnostic fee, I was given a repair estimate of an additional $392. 21. Not wanting to risk injury in the event of a crash, I had the pretensioner replaced. The buckle pretensioner is a critical safety device that should never fail under normal use. My vehicle has never been in an accident. It is my understanding that some pretensioners have failed due to simple seat position adjustments, which, to me, is evidence of a poor design. Ford has recently recalled many 2013 ¿ 2014 vehicles for poorly made pretensioners, recognizing the safety issue surrounding them. I requested that Ford reimburse me for the cost of the pretensioner buckle; however, Ford denied this request. I have the original pretensioner and all receipts available.
Vehicle started losing power and unable to run correctly. Took to garage and fuel pump drive module was rusted with circuits being exposed to the salt and moisture elements where there was a large hole in back of unit. New one was installed with spacers to help prevent salt and moisture from collecting where back of module mounts onto axle bracket. Vehicle ran better but also had to install new coil due to a cylinder missing. Runs ok with work that was performed. Module should not have been installed against the bracket so salt and moisture could collect and rust it so badly and cause it to fail. Ford should pay for this repair due to the way in which the module was installed so it would rust so badly.
While driving instrument panal shuts down, radio shuts off, airbag indicator comes on, windows don't work, if shut off lasts more than 5 minutes seat belt chime goes off, twice word test came on in mileage indicator window. Sometimes goes on and off while turning or hitting brakes, other times just while driving.
Went to stop for traffic light applyed the breaks and vehicle took off///////slamed on breaks to try to stop and slamed in park . Came with in inches of crashing into car in front of me. Today is sept. 1st have not driven truck again////// call Ford corp. They will not pay to check out truck. At 3100 miles hade to replace tires. Orig. Had dry rot,,,,,,.
The electric windows and door locks and mirror adjustments all stopped working on my 2006 f150. After doing some looking I found that the wire harness that runs to the door has most of the wires broken or breaking in half thus leaving bare wires exposed and a possible fire hazard the way it looks to me.
All the gauges in my truck stopped working. First the speedometer then all the gauges. At first they just fluctuated then they all stopped. Then the lights started flashing on and off inside the vehicle. Then the fuel sensor warning started beeping followed by the seatbelt beeper. Occasionally the entire dash goes blank followed by a test screen on the the dash. All interior electrical systems shut off for about two to three seconds then come back on while driving. Very worried that the vehicle will just stop while driving.
While approaching a stop the truck gauges started going crazy. Truck stalled but restarted with gauges still acting crazy. All gauges would bottom out and come back up and radio was turning on and off. Replaced battery but only stalling issue was resolved. Took to local Ford dealer but since the truck only does this randomly, they were not able to diagnose the problem. Truck runs perfectly but gauges and radio still go on and off making it extremely annoying to drive. Very frustrating to know that so many other Ford owners have the same problem but no solution has been offered from Ford.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the instrument cluster shut off whenever the temperature was above 70 degrees. The contact mentioned that it would return to normal once the temperature was cooler. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician stated that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 114,000.
The led display that indicates the mileage, gear selector and warning indicator is no longer operable. From a quick web search and a discussion with the local Ford service department this is a known issue that is not currently covered by a recall. Inability to view mileage and warning indicators results in unsafe driving conditions.
Abs sensor shorted out and fused to wire harness for whole electrical system, Ford claims no recall, could have caused major fire, noted complaint #10195595 was very similar. Caused $2300 dollar repair.
While approaching an interestion, about to make a right at the light, (I was driving about 20mph) on 12/24/12 (with my two children and husband in the truck) the vehicle beeps and it displays "engine safe mode. . . Low oil pressure" then the power steering cuts off and the whole vehicle shut down! I am frantic at this point because I have no clue what is going on! I was in the middle of traffic and had to cut the car off and crank it up again. Luckly I didn't get rear ended or in an accident. That same day I went and got my oil change because it was over due. Well on 1/4/13 the same thing happens as I am turning into the parking lot of mcdonalds. I get the same error message as beore, the steering wheel locks up, and truck cuts off! this so extremely dangerous. I looked this issue up online and see that it appears to be a common issue with the 2006 F-150 and the expedition. My bother-in-law, who also has a similar F-150 to ours, said the same thing has happened to him twice.
Under normal operation the gas pedal stops responding, the check engine light comes on and after about 30 seconds the engine shuts off. I have to stop , put the truck in park , turn off the key and restart the truck. This resets the computer and the truck seems fine for a while till it happens again. This has happened several times mostly on back roads. Today it happened while I was entering a busy highway. I was almost hit by on comming traffic.
The passenger in my vehicle tried rolling up the window while at a stoplight and it would not go up. The window switch will work to roll the window down but not to roll it up. After approximately 11 months the drivers side window is doing the same thing, will go down but not up. With the window stuck in the down position, my vehicle is now exposed to the elements, rain particularly, and I fear the water from the rain is going to affect the rest of my door switches, and possibly ruin the leather seats and the power functions for my seats as well. It is a distraction and a hazard to have to drive with the window down constantly.
Odometer flash then quites working all info the is in that info center won't work.
Odometer does work.
2006 Ford F-150 harley davidson has coil misfire problem. All eight coils have been replaced in the last 24 months and three have been replaced twice. Cat converter has been replaced twice in the same time period. All plugs have been replaced. The car continues to misfire. As a result, the vehicle has an extremely strong odor of fuel resonating. The dealer states that they cannot do anything to find the root of the problem. This vehicle is dealer serviced.
Ford F-150 fx4 140,000. 0 miles. Brake light has been on for several years starting around 2010 with 76,000. 0 miles. The brakes were replaced and flushed multiple times since the problem started. Replaced brake cable e-brake switch etc. . . Everything points to the cluster and there are multiple websites the verify the same exact problem with the brake light beginning from 2004-2010. In some states this is an indpectable item adding additional and mandatory repairs to be made. The cluster repair part cost anywhere from $400. 00-$600. 00 and with labor could run well over $1000. 00 pending on the model of the F-150. My bottom line is that this issue has gone without a recall from Ford or the NHTSA.
2006 f150 4x4 lariat, 7557 miles. In cold temperature backup sensor sounds alarm as if obstruction is close when there is none. Took to local dealer and sales said this is normal for this model. Am waiting for service to schedule appointment as truck only has a few months left of warranty. Truck is only driven in winter and this is first time in 3 years this has happened.
Odometer started blinking and just quick working, dealer does not recognize a recall for a electronic failure. It seems numerous Ford vehicles have the same issue. Dealer want to replace the entire cluster for a small fee of 700. 00. Ford knows it is a issue but does not recognize the problem.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-150. While driving 60 mph, the contact smelled smoke coming from the vehicle. She was then alerted by a motorist that her vehicle was on fire. There were no warning indicators. She pulled over and exited the vehicle before it became engulfed in flames. The fire department extinguished the fire. The cause of the fire was undetermined. The vehicle was towed away. The vehicle had an oil change two days before the fire. The current and failure mileages were 36,000.
: the contact stated two weeks after purchasing the vehicle while accelerating, the engine sputtered and the check engine light illuminated. The dealership was unable to determine the problem, but replaced the fuel injector. The vehicle operated worse after the repair. The manufacturer sent an engineer to test drive the vehicle. While driving at an unknown speed, smoke flowed from the engine compartment. The vehicle was pulled over and then erupted in flames. A police report was taken and the fire department extinguished the fire. The two rear tires and tailgate were the only salvageable parts. Due to the extensive damage, the cause of the fire was unknown.
