I have a 2007 Ford f150 4wd pickup truck. I have 22,000 miles on the truck and just had to replace both front upper ball joints. When I took it to the Ford garage they indicated this is a common failure. My concern is that the failure mechanism if the upper ball joint fails is for the wheel to fold under the vehicle and potentially rupture the brake lines in the process. They indicated this failure would be worse while pulling a trailer. I contacted Ford motor company and they offered no explanation or assistance as the truck is off warranty.
Lower ball joints wearing out at 25,000 miles, upper ball joints gone at 50,000 miles on a 2007 Ford f150 lariat.
