1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2020

When idle it has a rough sound changed faders and senors still same. . . It has a so trying gas smell around it and when driving it it may shut off and also it drives like it needs a tune up but has recently had one. . . . The wheel hub assembly is also acting up.

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2019

Transmission cooling line going through radiator failed causing coolant to mix with transmission fluid. Resulting in transmission failure. Transmission had to be entirely rebuilt and radiator also had to be replaced. This occurred at highway speed.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. While driving various speeds, there was an odor of fuel coming from the rear of the vehicle. A local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel line hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 55,287. The VIN was not available.

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

Engine ticking, from prior reports looks to be a common issue, also when filling up with gas it seems to have back pressure and keeps turning the pump off.

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2016

Every vehicle that Ford put out with a cam phaser is experiencing issues with the can phaser. Any sae certified mechanic will verify this. This is a horrible design. Why hasn't Ford stepped up to the plate and fixed this issue? I believe they are trying to bury it so that they don't have to incur the cost of fixing their mistake. Due to this issue I've been stranded on the highway. The truck looses power, won't go into gear. . . . Etc. . . . This happens after the can phaser has activated and then I come to a stop. Then it's misfiring stalling not going into gear. . . You name it it's an issue. A compute read on the obd2 stayed that I had misses in ignition coils 1,3 and 7 replaced them then the teaching stayed misfired is 2,4 and 5 replaced them and all the same issues. . . Every mechanic I've spoken to says absolutey the phases and that they have to put a cam phaser delete kit in these vehicles do get rid of these problems. Why hasn't Ford been held responsible for such a terrible design?.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2016

Takata recall. Engine has very bad power loss and shakes vigouresly when warm and pulling up to stop or reverse.

7 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2016

The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. While traveling approximately 40 mph, the contact smelled fuel inside the vehicle. The dealer was notified, but the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2016

Driving along, about 35mph, stopped vehicle at traffic light, engine started revving, placed both feet on brake, tried shifting to neutral, problem got worse (revved higher), light turned green, let go of brake, engine revved and vehicle went to 45mph without accelerating, applied brake, pulled over, shut off engine, restarted engine, still revving, pulled back on gas pedal with foot, engine rpms finally dropped to normal, inspected floor area -found no obstructions nor debris in pedal. Also concerned that this may have happened once before about 2 years ago, when I was involved in an accident.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2015

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after refueling, there was a strong fuel odor inside of the cabin and on the outside of the vehicle. The contact stated that there was evidence of a fuel leak only after fill up. The contact also stated that the check engine light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 07v278000 (fuel system, gasoline). Neither the dealer nor manufacturer were contacted or notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 155,000. Ah.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2015

While accelerating to enter the highway a loud pop sound was heard and the engine lost power. I had enough speed to make the break-down lane. The sound was coming from the #3 cylinder on the right side of the motor. 4. 6l v8. These were factory plugs and the vehicle is maintained every 3000-5000 miles.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2014

I was driving down the highway and as I was making a right hand turn my motor turned off. I had no steering and little brakes to get me off the road. I took the truck to my mechanic and he told me the fuel module was cracked. This is common on f150's and I feel Ford should have a recall on this before someone gets hurt. Thanks.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2014

As I excellerate and hit the passing gear the truck spits and sputters. If I back off it runs fine.

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2014

Driving on a 2 lane road coming up to a red light, truck shut off completely, could not restart, had to call for tow truck, sitting on roadway at a 3 way rush hour intersection for half hour waiting for tow. Repair cost $350. 00 dollars. Plus $100. 00 dollars towing.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

Vehicle quit running while driving , left on the side of the ride in very cold weather , the fuel control module was so corroded and broke off frame cause vehicle's engine not to run. There should be a safety recall on these modules. My truck is in very good condition and you should see how bad of condition the module looks. . Looks like it was in acid and completely dissolved the back panel.

15 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2014

The truck has been running rough and stalling out at random. This happens while driving, while at the car wash and while, sitting at the stop light, but everytime it has been wet outside. Taken truck to Ford dealership, and had lots of work done, new plugs, coilpacks, injector service, and throtlebody cleaning done with no inprovement. Brought issue to a friend and to one look at the fuel control module under the rear axel and it was split wide open, bad enough the the circut board was just hanging out. When issue was brought to local Ford dealer, the parts guy just had a laugh and said they do at least three a week. "I didnt find it that funny" a control box with a aluminum back plate on a steel axel with no buffer, is just bad design and should be recalled.

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2013

I started my truck after washing it, it was running rough so I shut it off and tried to restart it and it would not start. After having it towed to a repair garage the technician discovered the fuel module was bad, and had to be replaced it. After looking on line I found out that this is a common problem with these trucks from 2004-2008 models. Sounds like a poor design.

17 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2013

Turns over will not start, dealer says fuel sending unit $407. 00 replaced!!!!!!!.

18 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2013

Truck randomly stops running.

19 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2013

The vehicle gear shift can be moved at anytime without depressing the brake or the release button both when driving at 60 mph or the vehicle is parked in my yard. Easily a child can move the vehicle into gear and start it rolling or bring it to a dead stop while driving on the highway by just bumping into it. I contacted Ford and they were unwilling to help with this obvious safety issue. Which will now cost me over $800. 00 to fix. This amount seems excessive and I fear will keep many people who experience this dangerous problem from fixing it because the vehicle otherwise performs fine. I have contacted salvage companies who have stated that their price on this part is what it is because they can sell these parts all day indicating that this is a common problem. Ford will not recognize the defect in the vehicle. How long should a shifter lever last? I'm 48 yrs old, I have owned many vehicles some with many more miles than this one and I have never had an issue with this part. Hopefully you can persuade the Ford motor company to do the right thing and stand behind their products and institute a recall for this part.

20 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2013

Went to start truck at home and it would not start. Engine would turn over, but would not start. I had vehicle towed to the Ford dealership. Told by the Ford service manager that it probably was the fuel control module located by the rear spare tire and they have replaced many of them. The Ford dealership confirmed it and replaced the fuel control module. My cost $312. 83. We average 160 inches of snow per year. Long winters and lots of salt.

21 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2013

I was driving down the highway towing a trailer weighing about 4, 000 lbs. We were traveling approx 45mph when the truck had no throttle response and stalled. After stopping at a major intersection I had to call 911 because I was blocking traffic. They had to call a tow truck capable of towing truck and trailer out of the intersection. After the tow bill and local Ford dealer sinking their teeth into me the total was $518. ## VIN failed ##.

22 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

Three times since January 1, 2013 my Ford F-150 has accelerated on its own. Each time I was traveling less than 10 mph. Each time I had to put the truck into neutral and turn it off. The rpm's went over 3000 and my foot was not on the gas. Each time I checked to make sure there was nothing hung up in the gas peddle like carpet or trash. I took my truck to Ford country in las vegas and the service writer said I was dreaming that something like that could not happen. I assure you that my truck accelerated on its own three times at speeds less than 10 mph. I would like to find out if this is a reported problem with a fix. I do not feel safe driving my truck in town and especially in traffic where it might accelerate on its own and hurt someone. Any information that you need I can provide. I am willing to let you put any type of monitoring device on my truck so if or when it happens again you can see the results. Thank you for your time.

23 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2012

First why was" this vehicle included in the recall of bad throttle body I had the same problem as people are having with the Ford escape. I reported this back in 2012 when it was brought to the attentioni of the NHTSA I did not receive a response then but there are the same problems with the F-150 I had to replace mine @ a cost of over $600. 00 and also damaged my alternator I was driving in traffic when it went in limp home mode showing a wrench symbol with lost of power and acceleration, I almost was hit by several vehicles as there was knowwhere to pull over time. This is the same throttle body that comes on the Ford escape and it should be included with that group of recalls.

24 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated that fuel was abnormally leaking from the fuel rail to the motor. The contact stated that the vehicle felt as if it had a loss of power once the failure occurred. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileage was 31,000.

25 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

Took to dealer for check engine lite. They found fpcm ready to crack in half. Told me I was lucky the truck made it to the shop. Excessive corrosion between frame and module result of a very poor design. Not covered by warranty. Should be a recall. They claim their replacing 2 to 3 a week. This dealer didn't even put upgrade spacer bolts on. Here I thought they were helping me!.

26 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2010

I returned my Ford F-150 to the dealership for the third time to correct the problem with the brake pedal traveling past the accelerator pedal during normal braking. Ford is not recognizing the problem and the dealership sales manager acknowledges he has replicated the problem intermittently; however, because Ford refuses to acknowledge the problem there is nothing they can do. I have seen this problem reported in other cases on the NHTSA website, and I believe it is time for NHTSA to investigate before deaths are reported from braking/accelerating through stop signs/lights and hitting or being hit by someone. I believe the problem is somehow also related to the front brake rotors warping within a short period of time (20k - 30k miles).

27 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2010

After replacing the front brake rotors and brake pads during 8/07/10 - 8/10/10 to try and alleviate a problem with the brake pedal traveling past the accelerator when braking (normal braking), I had to return to the dealership with the same problem. It is a safety issue as I cannot allow anyone else to drive the truck who is not familiar with the problem. The dealership kept the vehicle from 8/11/10 through 8/25/10 with the service manager driving it every day to and from work to see if the problem could be replicated. The service manager said he noticed the same problem with the brake pedal going past the accelerator with normal braking; however, did not happen everytime. I agreed with that. After the service manager called the factory representative to discuss the problem, the factory representative said there is not a known problem and the braking system was within specifications. I was told by my dealership that Ford does not recognize the problem and they could not resolve the issue for me. It appears to be a design problem, as I drove several 2007 and 2008 F-150's that the dealership had on the lot. Each one of them had the problem I noted above. The 2009 F-150 does not have the braking problem I found out when I test drove one. The service manager at my dealership told me that the entire braking system was re-designed for the 2009 model year.

28 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2009

I have a 2007 Ford f150 it has 14,454 miles. I purchased it brand new. My first experience of having the truck accelerate unexpectedly was about a year ago. Both myself and my sister was in the truck at the time. I started the engine and had my foot on the brake and shifted it in to drive when it accelerated forward for no reason. I did not think much about it until it happened again about 3 months ago. I was parked on the side of my house and started to make a u-turn when the truck again acelerated with my foot on the brake and almost crashing into my neighbors garage. Since we don't drive the truck very often I did not take it in to the dealer to have it checked. On April 12th of 2009 my son was pulling into a parking space and decide he was not straight, so he backed up and when he put the vehicle into drive with his foot on the brake it accelerated forward into a back of a building. We had 2 witness, saying that his foot was on the brake at the time of the accident. No one was hurt, only damage to the building and the truck. I have now notified the repair shop and going to file a complaint with Ford. It appears this has happen many times with the same vehicle as well as other vehicles.
