1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2023

Issue: abrupt engine shutoff while driving at high speed. Occurance: while driving on an interstate highway at approximately 70mph in far left lane, the vehicle abruptly shutoff. With no power, the power steering also did not function, however, had enough speed to safely pull onto the grass median. It appears the problem is with a known issue to Ford, which is the fuse for the fuel pump (#27 in the engine compartment pdb) will melt and cause either intermittent or complete failure even while driving at high speeds. Given the conditions I was extremely lucky to have been able to pull off, and then back on to the roadway safely. Ford has a fix available fuel pump jumper harness kit. Kit terminal part #: wt56872 (14293) as a result of this problem, yet it seems there is no active recall for this to be installed. Why??? this could have resulted in multiple deaths and injuries for a single incident - I think that's unacceptable and hope NHTSA will concur and compel a recall to fix this issue.

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2022

When you start it up it would run good then battery light and a wrench would show up on dash then the throttle would drop down to a maximum speed would be 20 miles an hour. Battery would be dead when you would try and start it. Took it to a mechanic he could not do a diagnostic check because computer had been erased. I have been stranded multiple times. Going down busy highway unable to go faster than twenty miles an hour. Had to be jumped twice in a few hours still only able to go twenty miles an hour, then battery died while going twenty miles and hour. Engine light along with battery light and wrench symb.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2022

I purchased a 2010 F-150 new in July 2010. Yesterday I noticed a fuel leak from the gas tank.

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2022

Gas leaking from above the tank.

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2020

There have been 3 times now that my vehicle has randomly died while driving on the highway and city streets. With the engine not running I lost power steering and almost couldn't make a turn. No warning lights, no chimes. Looking into it myself I found that the fuel relay 20amp fuse was melted and the plastic around the terminal also melted. Ford has a TSB out for this issue but I feel it should be recalled for safety purposes as there is no warning and you lose all power. Little to no steering or brakes until you come to a stop and pop the hood open and wiggle that fuse in hopes that it will make contact again. This means that you could be left stranded or get into an accident trying to stop. Many people in online forums have had this same issue and it needs to be addressed accordingly.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2019

The fpdm was going bad. The truck would shut off in the middle of driving. Twice it died while turning and I couldn't steer. Once almost had me in the back of a parked car. This cost me over 300 dollars to fix. It's only going bacd because the are mounted to the steel gram and the aluminum backing on the fpdm is pitting and water is getting in. This problem also made it difficult to start, and messed with my mpg.

7 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2019

Fuse block melting vehicle started ok. After traveling approx. 10 minutes I stopped turned vehicle off. Upon returning to vehicle it failed to start. I then had vehicle towed to a Ford dealer. Ford dealers diagnosed it needed a fuse relocation kit TSB 15-0137 parts and labor approx. $350. 00.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2019

Fuse 27 had failed turning off the vehicle. Refer to TSB no. 15-0137 but Ford has not recalled.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2018

11/29/18 will be the 6th time my engine shut off when coming to a stop and making a turn. Other 5 incidents were about 3 years ago. Each occasion, slowing down to a stop, engine shuts off while making a turn, and I put it in neutral while pressing brakes, starts up, and I keep going down the road. 122k miles, love the truck but this has me very concerned for my family riding in the truck. I looked up any recalls but did not find anything regarding this. F-150 forums have the exact same incidents and when taking to Ford dealership, they cannot find anything wrong. Please let me know my options of getting Ford to do something.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2018

Run out of gas gas guage reading is 50 mile to go all when engen get hot making kocking nosie.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2017

Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Ford f 150. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the fuel station and got filled up. The vehicle did not start afterwords. The contact kept on trying to start the vehicle for approximately 45 minutes, then the vehicle started. The contact also stated that the same failure occurred at leas for the past six fill ups. The vehicle was not diagnosed by the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic that determined that the 20 amps fuel relay fuse and the high power relay were damaged and needed replacement. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000. Bp.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2017

After refueling vehicle will be hard to start, after repeated attempts and using gas pedal to force an idle it will start, problem only occurs again after refueling. This is coupled with sudden engine cut off at low speeds. Dealer is clueless as to a fix for either. I consider the sudden shut off to be a major safety issue, particularly driving in mountains as I do.

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2017

The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. While driving various speeds, the fuel field inlet indicator illuminated. Five days later, the check engine indicator illuminated. The local dealer (all star Ford 3800 century way pittsburgh, CA 94565) was called and informed the contact that the fuel field inlet failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or repaired. The manufacturer stated that enough complaints had not been filed on that component to create a recall, and offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2016

My son was driving the truck with my older son also in the cab. My son that was driving noticed that the truck was losing speed and that nothing was happening when he pushed on the accelerator. He put the truck in park and smoke began filling the cab. They got out of the truck in a hurry and ran. The truck exploded 3 seconds later and burned completely. We are not certain what caused the fire, but it appears to be the fueling system.

15 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2016

2010 Ford f150 with just over 60,000 miles. While driving, the vehicle fails and the engine shuts down entirely. This happens intermittently when the truck comes to a stop, but has also happened while driving casually at approximately 45 mph on city streets. This has happened multiple times. Personal investigation has led to finding numerous reports online of the same or worse problems with this model/year of Ford truck. Research has lead to show that there seems to be a factory issue with the fuel/air system on the vehicle. Numerous other reports online of the truck failing while driving and even causing accidents in some instances. This is a very serious safety issue as it endangers the lives of those in this vehicle as well as others on the roadway. A recall needs to be implemented immediately by the manufacturer to rectify this wrongdoing.

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2016

2010 Ford f150 stalls when going slow, and turning left. The oil light came on and I lost all power I had to put in park and restart. Took about 5 tries for the truck to restart. It did the same thing again about five minutes later while making another left turn. Also, died when I was sitting at a light preparing to turn right.

17 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2015

The truck misses at an idle and we also had to have the drive shaft replaced.

18 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2015

Bought a used 2010 F-150 supercrew 4x4 5. 4l 3v engine with 38,600 miles on it, first week it drove fine. But then. It stalled for the first time, and continued to do so, finally got a engine light, and replaced O2 sensors, didn't help, now dealership doesn't know what to fix!!! so scary and dangerous!! please force action! this vehicle is extremely dangerous. Stalls out/engine shuts off while driving!!!!!!! loses power steering, and all control!!! absolutely dumbfounded that this hasn't seen a recall with so many similar occurrences!!! so disappointed! I'm scared to death to drive my new car.

19 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2015

The vehicle stalled when coming to a stop and when slowing to make a sharp turn causing the engine to stop and loose braking and steering. The vehicle was taken to the Ford dealer at a cost of $820. 25 to replace part # 8f9z 9f472 e sensor hego, on the first visit which did not correct the problem, on the next visit to the dealer part # 8f9z 9e730 g sensor hego and part # 9l3z 9e730 g valve asy fuel vapour were replaced which corrected the problem. The vehicle stalled when approaching stop sings and when slowing to make a sharp turn on highways with heavy traffic behind my vehicle causing loss of brakes and steering. I have the invoices in my possession but am unable to upload.

20 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2014

Accelerator stuck to floorboard. Applied maximum braking until brakes faded and were no longer effective in deceleration. Turned off ignition and coasted to the curb. After 3-5 minutes, restarted the engine and vehicle functioned normally. Purchased this truck used and this was the first time the accelerator was applied fully. It will be the last.

21 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2014

Leaving red light, truck stalled. Oil light came on, lost power steering, brake. Was able to coast at an angle to the side. Could have caused an accident or traffic jam. Put truck in park, waited a minute, turned back on and gave it gas. Ran fine after that. Took to dealership next day. They said would not be any way to know what happened without pulling engine apart. Suggested multi point inspection and tune up. Did not mention this issue occurring previously or the numerous complaints of this issue online. They found a dusty air intake sensor that could have caused the problem. Changed spark plugs and performed tune up & oil change. Incident happened again leaving gas station pump on Dec 29, 2014. When restarted, it cranked several times but wouldn't fire up. Tried 3 times before successful start. Ran fine after that. Afraid a stall at high speed or when pulling my horse and trailer will cause major accident. Have seen complaints of fuel purge valve or throttle body butterfly valve causing this. Needs to be addressed by Ford.

22 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

Exhaust manifolds are rusting off very bad . Big flakes . I don't even drive truck in winter . I called Ford and gote no help.

24 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

Platinum edition purchased in Jan 2011. Issue: cap less gas door stays unhinged and will not close. Notes: happened after a trip. Door was open, retract device inside of frame no longer provides tension need to keep gas door closed. 1. Resulting to taping door closed to prevent further damaged to the truck, other than tape damage to the paint. 2. Would like to know: a. Risk of ignition now that gas door does not stay closed. Important being truck is not equipped with gas cap. B. Risk of ignition due to external combustible source or ignition source such as but not limited to; cigarettes, sparks, electric, temperature etc. 3. Need or direction for myself or other drivers to update insurance, etc. For coverage and liability to others this defect could produce. 4. Other considerations not mentioned in this statement. Overall complaint is that due to the nature of the item in question, and the vast amount of other users both here and at other noted sites and forums, a fix needs to be issued or info needs to be provided by Ford or the NHTSA or ntsb so driver can know the facts on the safety issue involved or lack of. Ntf.

25 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2014

My 2010 Ford f150 has approx. 30,4xx miles on it and has been maintained perfectly. In a brief summary, going in to work early (5am) potentially saved me from having a wreck to due a faulty throttle body. Upon accelerating from a red light, my truck entered into a "limp home" mode (mechanic wrench icon appeared) and began to incorrectly regulate my rpms. This caused my vehicle to become nearly stranded as I was moving no faster than 10mph in a 50mph zone. I was luckily only 1/8th of a mile from work and was able to get off the street. Upon leaving work, my truck was acting fine with no warning lights (not even the mechanic wrench). I then proceeded to drive it to an auto parts supplier to have a free diagnostic performed. No codes were saved or showed up. However, while driving back home, it again acted up and entered a limp mode. This time both "check engine" and "mechanic wrench" lights were on. I took my truck to the nearest dealer who then diagnose the problem as a faulty throttle body. I am quoted $881 to perform the replacement of a ~$150 part. . . Since it is a 2010, it is out of the 3yr/36,000 bumper to bumper and Ford doesn't consider the throttle body part of the drive train warranty (Ford will cover the intake manifold though, a chunk of plastic that won't break). . . Ford has apparently had problems w/ their drive-by-wire throttle bodies, as seen through their "consumer satisfaction program 13n03" recall. This incident should definitely be investigated as I have taken proper care of my truck (that has 30,400 miles) and I am stranded in a road, often traveled by 18 wheelers, going 10mph. I am not confident in my Ford truck.

26 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2013

2010 F-150 supercrew - lariat 5. 4l. Capless fuel filler - check engine light comes on + message center displays 'check fuel fill inlet'. Check engine light diagnosed as 'low level leak evap system'. Called Ford about a recall on the capless fuel fill that appears to affect many other vehicles; gave them my VIN and they replied 'there is no recall on your VIN'. Asked if they had issues w/ the capless fuel system and they would not respond. Also smell gas fumes when I first enter the garage area in the morning after parking the truck overnight w/ garage door closed.

27 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2013

I have 2010 Ford f150 fx4. I have 36000 miles on it and am the original. Bought it new from dealership. Today I was towing my horse trailer with 2 horses in it and came through the residential area near the barn. Speed limit is 30 miles an hour and I was doing 25 and was actually braking to slow it down to 20. I heard a weird engine noise and suddenly the truck surged and took off. We hit almost 50 miles an hour in this residential 2 lane road in a matter of seconds and I was standing on the brakes with both feet. My friend in the truck was downshifting (automatic) for me in an attempt to slow engine down. We managed to get it to 2nd and with me standing on brakes we were able to keep it at 40 mph. Neutral had no effect and rpms way too high for first gear-every time I slightly lifted my foot of the brakes slightly, we surged to 50 and the truck kept trying to go faster. Nothing we tried could get it to stop, slow or return to normal. We tried neutral and nothing happened. It was not the floor mat or the tow feature. Did not have speed control on. Scariest ride of my life and with two horses behind me. I was prepared to hit a tree or rock wall as we were running out of road. I was terrified of jack knifing. We finally hit an incline for a hill and we slammed it into nuetral again, pulled the emergency brake and shut off the engine when we got to the top. Think my brakes completly burned out and smoke was coming from my engine. Numerous people that we had terrified pulled over with us once we got the runaway truck stopped. Called tow truck and had towed to dealership and will see what they say tomorrow. I shudder to think what could have happened had someone pulled onto the road in front of us or a deer stepped out. I am terrified of this truck now.
