The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked on an incline, the contact started the vehicle and depressed the brake pedal; however, the vehicle started to roll backwards. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was determined that the vacuum booster pump had failed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the vacuum booster was previously replaced in 2018. The contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
Brake system alarm. When the mechanic put the computer reader on it, it’s saying it’s a vacuum issue. This issue has been recalled on several 2011 Fordf150’s, but when I look up my VIN, it says there isn’t a recall on mine.
Mechanical brake booster pump failure. Has been inspected by Ford dealerships twice and also with a third party certified mechanic. The vehicle has a tough time stopping upon ignition and brake has to be pumped hard. Ford claims 2021 was the last service date on this but still there a reserve records that show that its not resolved but no recall is out for this. . Read more...
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to slow the vehicle, he became aware that the brakes were not functioning properly, as upon releasing the brake pedal, the vehicle continued to reduce speeds. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed failures with the brake calipers and brake lines. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 114,000.
The below was sent to me, it is difficult for me to understand why I was not told the recall expired in 2016 when I made the appointment (6-6-23) and when I handed my property over (6-12-23) to this dealership. Thank you for the diagnostic, it was very helpful, but, I still run the danger of crashing due to my breaks not pressing down when the pump goes out and the option to get Ford to fix it expired in 2016, my VIN is registered and I did not get a notice, I would gladly give this shop the $$ to fix the 2016 recall that expired. Now, that business will go to your competitor. If you were not aware of the expiration, I get that, but, you are a shop specifically designed for my Ford, again, thank you for the diagnostic but the way it was done I can't trust this shop or get other females to come there. Keep jeff, do not run him off, his soul and manners feel safe and trusting, he treated me very well and I know he did what he was told to do by whoever was in charge. There is no need to contact me moving forward, but, this very email will be submitted to all the proper authorities (NHTSA. Gov, ftc. Gov, Ford. Com) when I hold Ford and others accountable. I work very hard for the life I have grown accustomed to. . Read more...
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to decelerate and come to a complete stop while the brake pedal was depressed. No warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that excessive force was needed, or the brake pedal needed to be pumped several times to start operating as needed. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic, where the brake master cylinder was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was also taken to several other local dealers, where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.
The vehicle was being driven with the cruise control set. Upon approaching an intersection on a four lane divided roadway I tapped the brakes to deactivate the cruise control. When pressure was applied to the brake pedal the cruise control did not disengage but the vehicle accelerated instead. I released pressure to the brake pedal and the vehicle continued at the cruise control set speed. I again applied pressure to the brake pedal and the vehicle again accelerated. To avoid striking stopped traffic I moved into the right turn lane with the vehicle continuing to accelerate as I attempted to brake the vehicle. Upon entering the intersection my vehicle struck another pickup truck broadside. I believe speed at the point of impact was 60 plus miles per hour. My vehicle then continued on and struck two utility poles. Both vehicles were damaged beyond repair. There appears to be a problem with the speed control system as it would not disengage but caused the vehicle to accelerate. Googling the same problem with other Ford F-150's I found several reports of the exact problem. I ordered the vehicle new and it was maintained by the Ford dealership. There were no known problems. Mileage is 31,900. At this time the vehicle has not been inspected for a cause but is available for inspection. The vehicle is in the towing company lot. This accident could have very easily resulted in fatalities. This accident should have never happened!!!.
I was driving with the cruise control engaged set at 60 mph. Approached an intersection with traffic light with traffic stopped in both westbound lanes. Tapped the brake to deactivate the cruise control. The cruise control did not turn off but instead tapping the brake caused the truck to accelerate. Released the brake pressure and reapplied brake pressure. This action again caused the truck to accelerate. To avoid hitting stopped traffic I moved to the right hand turn lane which was free of traffic. The truck continued to accelerate as I applied brake pressure. As my truck entered the intersection a collision occurred with a northbound vehicle. The collision severely damaged my vehicle and the struck vehicle with injuries to myself and the other driver. Crash speed had to be over 60 mph. This was all captured by a traffic camera. My F-150 had 31,900 on the odometer. It has been dealership maintained since new and has no known defects other than this incident. No lights, no warnings. The truck has not been inspected since the incident. The truck has heavy damage. This incident could have easily caused the deaths of myself and the other driver. Searches online have turned up the same complaints from other F-150 owners. I have photos on my email but can not get them loaded to this form. You need to see them!.
The brake booster vacuum pump located behind driver headlight keeps giving out almost crashed 3 times . It was recalled in canada so what is the difference here , I have seen many forums with this issue and Ford doesn't do anything this item is defective from the company.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150 the contact stated while stopped at a stop sign, the contact took his foot off the brake pedal and the vehicle started to accelerate. The vehicle was turned off and restarted and the contact was able to safely drive the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,415.
Have had the vacuum pump replaced twice and it’s dead again causing brake failure, the timing chain stretch already cost me one engine and now a year later the chain has stretched again on the new motor not very happy about that and passenger air bag turns on and off randomly with no codes only a warning again for no reason.
Hello, I have a 2011 Ford f150 eco boost. Just staring my brake pedal is very hard to push causing the vehicle to have no brakes. Took to dealer and said the vacuum pump is bad. Good new there a recall so they would fix for free. Mechanic called me back hour later stating the recall has expired so I have to pay for parts and labor. We are very confused why a safety recall that involves no brakes would expire?! this needs to get extended for safety reasons. I'm glad I didnt have my kids driving or they probably would have gotten into a accident! please have Ford look into this known problem.
The vehicle's electric vacuum pump was replaced under Ford's customer satisfaction program 15no5 at 23261 miles on 1/28/2019. Under that program, Ford extended the warranty on this part to 10 years/150k miles. This part produces vacuum to assist braking and to operate the four wheel drive system. When the truck is first started after sitting for some time, the operator has only manual braking and that can easily render the brakes insufficiently boosted for the amount of force an operator can push on the pedal, resulting in unintentional motion, forward or reverse of the vehicle. This pump also supplies vacuum to the parts that operate the four wheel drive, resulting in incorrect or incomplete selection of the driving mode, particularly when the vehicle is cold and during cold weather. This could cause sudden deceleration to a stop. This resulted in a dash warning to "check 4x4". Now, three years and 13k miles later, the part is once again operating unreliably, but the dealer tells me the vehicle has passed the ten year time limit and the program is over. This is a 5 $500 part, plus installation.
I was pulling out of my garage and as I applied the brakes to stop before hitting my neighbors garage there was no power brakes. By the grace of god I pushed hard enough on brakes and was able to avert an accident.
There was a service board recall on the brake vacuum pump. It regularly gets corroded and seizes up. Ford said they’d replace it up to 150,000 miles or 10 years. They know it’s a problem and will continue to go bad but doesn’t offer a fix for it. At any point, a person can loose power brakes and hit something. I almost rear ended someone because I was unaware of this issue. It had been fixed by Ford and is now bad again. They want $6-700 for a part that can go bad yearly and without notice. Instead of replacing a part, coming up with a fix would have been high priority. I doubt many Ford owners know their part is bad until it’s too late. I’ve looked for fixes but I’m not engineer and I’m sure Ford has some good ones.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the brake pedal failed to depress as needed. The contact stated that the check braking system and abs warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that they were unable to assist. The contact stated that he was informed that an unknown recall had expired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
I’ve been having problems with my truck since my purchase date June 29 of 2021! I own a 2011 Ford f150 super crew! my truck has been to the Ford company at least 5 to 6 times. I have inform the service team that this is a business truck! I have bought a new battery because I was told I was having low voltage but with the new battery I am having the same issues! I have had actually weighed a problem her assembly problems I have had my brakes replaced in the rear I have had converter problems and I was also told that I should get a tuneup but didn’t need it! I have had some bad experience with my Ford f150 2011 super crew and all I ask is for a better experience! I’ve never had an accident in his truck! I never had a accident in this truck!!!! I have had so many problems with the truck!??.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the brakes would not engage when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact was also stated that the vehicle made an abnormally loud grinding sound whenever the brake pedal was depressed. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the local dealer nor an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was relating the failure to an unknown recall. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.
Tried to apply the brakes and the brake pedal went to the floor without actuating the brakes. This happened suddenly and with no warning of any kind prior to the failure. I had to use the parking brake to bring the vehicle to a stop. The "brake fluid low" warning came on in the instrument cluster. The warning and the failure happened simultaneously, I. E. There was no indication of a problem until the braking system failed entirely. The vehicle had no braking action at all from the hydraulic brake system. Upon inspection the seals in the master cylinder appear to have failed, pulling all of the brake fluid into the brake vacuum-booster. It is my understanding that a problem identical to this one led to several accidents and a recall in the 2013-2015 f150. Clearly the issue is not limited to those model years as my truck is a 2011.
Same as recall # 19s07, driving on highway 40-45 mph suddenly downshifting to 1st causing vehicle to squeak and jerk thinking I was in a rear end collision, stopping traffic, getting out of vehicle and confronting driver to the rear. Ford said wrong VIN and charged $150 for update.
I am sitting at a stoplight or street sign my foot is on the break all the way down and then all of a sudden it jumps forward. Then it started putting when I drove and kept getting worse and the check engine light flashes for a good minute. Everytime it said there was nothing wrong with it, and the dealership only found minor stuff that needed fixed but it was none of thoes that was causing this issue. So then I looked for recalls, and I had the recall on my truck done and then my truck started knocking. This is still happening and nobody can seem to figure out whats going on with the truck.
The electric vacuum pump for the brake booster on my 2011 Ford f150 is showing the symptoms of failure. (suddenly very loud) it's only a matter of time. Ford has acknowledged that this part goes bad too quickly and offers an extended warranty for trucks showing this symptom, if the truck was built at certain plants and certain dates. My truck was built at one of those plants and between those dates, but they claim that my truck doesn't qualify for the program because supposedly the part in my truck isn't the same one even though it looks the same, it's in the same spot, it's failing the same way, and it's failing within the extended warranty period. They also say that when this part fails it can substantially reduce braking power.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon start of his vehicle, the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop while depressing the brake pedal. The contact also stated that the brake pedal would harden as the failure occurred. Also, the check brake system warning message was intermittently displayed on the instrument panel. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, an abnormal noise would emit from the engine. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with a defective electronic vacuum pump. The contact spoke with tadd jenkins Ford (1090 Ford way, blackfoot, id 83221) and the manufacturer who both informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle for the electronic vacuum pump. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 115,000.
Started my vehicle and went to leave a gas station. Stepped on brakes to stop for oncoming traffic and the pedal was hard as a rock and did not stop the vehicle. Pressed super hard on the pedal and the vehicle stopped. It was fine after that until I got home, turned off the vehicle and left sit for an hour. Started vehicle and the same issue happened again. Did some research and found out about the brake vacuum pump issue. I called Ford to see if my vehicle was on the extended warranty coverage (15n05), of course my vehicle was not covered. Had my wife been driving this vehicle, I do not think she would have been able to press hard enough for it to stop.
Tl- the contact owns 2011 Ford Ford F-150. The contact states that while driving, the right rear lights and turn signal failed to function. The vehicle was taken to mullinax Ford of mobile dealer, (7311 airport blvd, mobile, al 36608, (251) 344-4000) and was diagnosed that the body control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed of the same diagnostic failure of the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number: unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 71,234. Aw.
Had Ford customer satisfaction program 15n05 done on my truck January 2017 after vacuum pump noises in the front end. Vehicle was at 90. 5k miles then and is now at 120. 5k miles. Noticed a few weeks ago the vacuum pump was again making the same vibration noises at startup. . . Probably even worse (noisier, several cycles of vibration instead of just one). Since I was past their 1-year/12k mile warranty program on the unit, Ford dealer and customer service have both declined to support another replacement in any way. Was reading on f150 forums and other customers are experiencing the same faulty vacuum pumps after having the warranty work done. So, now I have a noisy vacuum pump and very slight pedal changes at first start-up that I must pay to fix. No incidents so far but now I'm on the hook for an additional repair after only 18months/30k miles with the Ford recommend replacement pump. Nothing on vehicles these days only has a 30k mile life. That's terrible. For safety's sake, I'm going to handle this replacement on my own and have no recourse at this moment for satisfaction besides to atleast report that Ford replaced an easily failing vacuum pump with another easily failing vacuum pump and they do not stand behind that work. If this safety issue was severe enough to create a satisfaction program/extended warranty program the first time around, why is safety no longer important the second time around when it is failing again? answer - because they don't have the NHTSA investigating them this time around. . . . Maybe enough complaints like mine and it will re-open the case.
I own a 2011 Ford f150 that was under a transmission recall that was very serious in nature: 16v248000 -Ford motor company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Ford F-150 trucks, 2012 Ford expedition, Lincoln navigator, and Ford mustang vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with an automatic transmission that may unexpectedly downshift to first gear, regardless of vehicle speed. I had this recall performed and ever since, I've had transmission issues. The transmission does not respond as it should. The truck takes off very slowly as it accelerates (very dangerous in traffic). On top of that it has shifting problems. The dealership (eby Ford in goshen, in) has been no help whatsoever. Now, on top of not getting this taken care of, I now have another issue with the vehicle (that's also been an ongoing problem): field service action number: 15n05. My vehicle has 152,xxx miles on it and they're saying they can't cover this because it's over 150,000. I need help getting this vehicle in a a safe driving condition so that I someone doesn't end up seriously injured or dead. Please help! these things occur while the vehicle is being operated. There is only one option below for "when did this happen?". I selected today, however, this has been an ongoing thing since the original recall was performed (mentioned above).
The brake vacuum pump is not working. I'm unable to get into my car, start it then drive off. It needs to warm up for about 5 minutes to fill the pump. Based on research that I have done, there was a recall on this part 15n05. But my vehicle doesn't list it as a recall. Can I get an explanation why my vehicle doesn't list the recall? thanks.
Upon starting vehicle and beginning movement, the brakes do not work for a short time. Engine light has came on. Pressing on gas pedal movement is sluggish.
Power train coming on all time / brake problems/ light coming on all times.
The brakes do not work in the morning when I start up my vehicle.
While driving down the highway the fault code for timing chain p0016 came on and engine seized in the middle of the highway. I lost all power steering and brake power which caused me to almost collide with other vehicles trying to get off the highway with no power. After finally getting truck on the off ramp it took all I had to get it to stop at the intersection putting my life and the driver of the SUV at the intersection life in danger.
After sitting overnight, and turning on the truck the vacuum pump is extremely loud. If driving the truck immediately the brakes will not work unless pushed very hard. After about 3 minutes the sound diminishes and the brakes work adequately.
From a cold start, the service brakes did not work upon initial application. With extreme pedal pressure, truck eventually stopped rolling narrowly avoiding impact. Incident occurred in our driveway.
