Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle had not been started for a long period of time. As a result, the brake pedal was inoperable. The contact stated that the vehicle needed to be idling for a period of time before the brakes would work. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
When the vehicle is first started, the brakes do not work. When I crank the vehicle and put in reverse the brakes do not have any pressure and the vehicle slowly grinds to a halt when I press the brakes extremely hard. About 1-2 minutes after cranking the brakes work fine. I have nearly backed down a large hill multiple times.
Takata recall. The brakes will lock up and won't stop the truck even when pushed in all the way. After a few seconds it will go away but have still almost hit several things. This is very dangerous and I hope that this can be fixed. Thanks.
When starting truck after sitting overnight, the vacuum pump is loud for approximately 3 minutes. Concurrently the brakes do not work which is a huge safety factor. When starting out of the driveway one cannot trust the brakes to engage when the petal is depressed. Once the noise diminishes the brakes work.
While backing out of garage, after truck sat overnight, I had extremely hard brake pedal and almost no brakes, narrowly missing a parked car. After engine operates for a while, brakes return to normal operation. The problem occurs now when the truck sits overnight.
It is scary when the the break pedal locks in midair. We have to press it several times to get it to go down to the floor. This delays stopping the truck in a timely fashion. Also there is a humming/ rattling sound in the vehicle. The truck has been off the road at least a month until we can afford to get this issue fixed. After calling the dealership we discovered that the truck was entitled to the customer satisfaction program extended warrentee notice 15n05 posted in 2016. However, it does not apply to our vehicle because it has 188,000 miles. This program should have been a recall matter since so many f150's had the same problem. It's not fair that so many people had to fight to the right to fix the issue and Ford only gives consumers with over 150,000 miles just over one year to get it repaired for free. Now we are forced to pay out of pocket for a defective electric vacuum pump which would have ended our worries with the breaks and the rattling sound. We would greatly appreciate help in getting Ford to extend some of the manufacture warrantees and recalls to our Ford f150 so that we could return to using our family/work truck safely. Thank you.
No assist brakes sporadically do not work, almost causing three accidents. Normally it is after the truck sits for a couple of days or when it's cold in the mornings. I put my foot on the brakes, start the truck, put it in reverse, and no brakes. I immediately press hard and the brakes grind coming to a slow stop. I've almost backed into a couple of cars. Another I backed out of driveways and couldn't come to a stop until I crossed the street hitting the opposite curb. This needs to get recalled before someone gets seriously hurt. The dealer won't do anything unless I pay $150 and leave the truck for several days so they can test brakes manually themselves. 1) huge inconvenience and 2) no certainty that it will happen for them as it happens periodically.
When coming to a stoplight on a city street, brakes were applied but the engine raced to a high rpm . Next I pushed pedal harder but rear tires were now spinning on dry pavement. I put F-150 truck into park stopping inches from the car stopped ahead of me at stoplight.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle shifted into first gear. The wheels locked, and the abs engaged. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (lake view Ford, 12381 conneaut lake rd, conneaut lake, PA 16316), but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and opened case number: cas-14072276. The contact was informed that the local dealer could use their pas to assist with repair fees, but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
My 2011 Ford f150 ecoboost is making a humming noise when you start the truck and move the shifter into a gear and apply the brakes. , does this for about a minute or I rev the engine and it goes away. The brake pedal feels very week then the pressure comes back up. I have had this truck into gateway Ford in greeneville TN since the second day I own the truck. The saleman said this is normal for this type motor. They also changed the spark plugs for a miss I was having in the motor. I have been to the dealer 4 times always get sent away like im crazy its all in my mind. Don't know where else to turn any help would be very grateful. Thank you this happens thru out the driving of the truck.
While driving the vehicle around 45 to 50 mph the vehicle started skidding. The brakes were not applied when this happened the vehicle just started skidding on its own. The vehicle sounded like the transmission was coming apart. I contacted Ford and told them about the issue and they said there were no recalls on the vehicle. I told them the this was a safety issue and that my wife has back problems and that when the vehicle started skidding it jerked us forward. If there would have been vehicles behind us or if we were going thru an intersection this could have caused a serious accident. They told me Ford was not responsible and that I should take the vehicle in and have it serviced. We were driving on a highway when this occured.
After starting vehicle and shifting into reverse, brakes are hard to press, leading to increased stopping distance. Has happened once in drive, only right after starting vehicle.
Occasionally on initial start up the brake pedal does not want to depress, feels very hard and does not engage the brakes. First time it happened I was parked on a slope and the truck rolled backwards and only after stomping on the pedal with both did it stop but by that time it had rolled about 30 feet. This happened about 8 months ago, and continues to occur after the truck has not been used for several days. I haven't parked only any slopes and I always back up slowly to test them before I drive, when it happens I pump them several times and then they engage. I've had them checked by mechanic but he has not found anything defective and has not been able to duplicate the situation. Other than these occurrences the braking works normally.
My brakes haven't been working properly. It looks like the year of my truck had a recall. But according to my VIN they never recalled my truck.
If I start my truck and immediately put it in reverse my brakes will not work, I have to let the truck sit for a couple minutes before my brakes will work. I have replaced my brakes thinking this would correct the problem but it did not. I have backed into a concrete post because of this. Very unsafe.
Temporary hard brake pedal condition at start-up followed by more normal pedal feel after a few seconds. When you first start moving you have to almost stand on the brakes pedal to get it the car to stop.
Car indicated low brake fluid at traffic light 1. . . Brakes operated properly for traffic light 2 then suddenly at speed brake pedal went to floor while attempting to slow for entry to highway on ramp after traffic light 3. I was able to avoid median at on ramp as well as two other cars while vehicle rolled to stop before traffic light 4.
I was approaching a red light at an intersection almost in front of my work in town. I was driving approximately 25 mph on boll weevil circle and applied brakes with plenty of room to stop. My brakes didn't seem to do anything so I pushed the pedal to the floor and I was barely slowing down. I believe I was slowing only because I wasn't accelerating. My anti lock brakes did not work. Weather conditions: light rain. I did not skid! I hit the driver's side of a blazer which was coming from the right perpendicular to me. Dps case 6687819 local case 2016-07-4597. I have hands free in my vehicle but no electronic devices were in use, there were no distractions. I was alone returning to work after lunch. After having my vehicle repaired I took it to the Ford dealership and told them what happened. They ran a check and replaced the vacuum pump at no charge with a different type. I have had no issues since. Unfortunately, they did not cover my insurance deductible and the increase in my insurance.
My truck won't stop I happens in the mornings a truck suddenly stopped I put my brakes on my truck didn't stop in time and I hit the truck in front of me got in accident this is the second time this has happened to me.
Very hard to push break with both legs hard to stop when backing up and a noise clicking from somewhere sounds like from motor or dash ???? happend several times over last two weeks one being today at 7:50 am on may 20,2016 was afraid I was going to hit car parked on side of road when backing out of my driveway.
I have a 2011 Ford f150 ecoboost. I received a extended warranty for issues occurring with the electric vacuum pump. I have diagnosed an issue with the brakes after starting the truck up. I started the truck up put it in reverse backed down the driveway and lost all ability to brake and stop the truck. If there was a vehicle or individual behind me there could have been an accident where injury or death could have occurred due to the inability to stop the truck with the brake pedal. I brought the truck to the dealership with the issue and they ignored the electric vacuum pump stating that it was the master piston and it would cost 700 dollars to fix. After doing research I believe I was lied too after others have reenacted the same situation that has occurred to me. If the braking issue occurs more than once I will escalate this issue to higher authority individuals at Ford. This issue must be fixed before injury, death or litigation occurs.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. While driving at various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed abruptly and hesitated to respond for a great distance. The contact also noticed smoke under the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic brake pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 282,830.
In 2016 I went to get recall repaired from franklin TN dealership I purchased the truck from, they refused, in 2019, they claim that the software was not available from Ford, online in emails to another dealer, I have not been told when to bring truck in to get all recalls repaired. Both dealerships are in TN. When in first gear, the truck will jerk back down and won't allow me to go to 2nd gear without pressing hard on gas, loud fan noise from the hood, breaks go to the floor and I have to pump to feel truck slowing down, air and heat continue to not work, air won't get cool and heat won't get hot, both dealerships have refused to repair or blamed Ford for not giving them what they needed to fix the recalls. I am documenting so my family will be able to give this to attorney. The down shift happens when the truck is in drive moving on any and every street, parking lot, stop light/sign. The loud fan noise from the engine only happens when the truck is started, the brakes have been going to the floor for 8 years at different times of the day/night when driving.
Hard brake petal when first starting vehicle. Takes up to 60 seconds to have power brakes. I have had this problem for two plus years.
The brake vaccum pump makes noise on start up. This is the second one since I have had it. Theremember is also a loss of brake pressure. When tapping the brakes in reverse the pump will always make like a build up noise. Also extreme brake dust is visible on rims. I have brakes and roars just under the best you can get.
No brake boost upon starting, when you start the motor when cold there is no brake vacuum boost for about 15 to 20 seconds. . The "brake assist pump" behind the left headlamp corrodes and locks up and untill the motor gets enough vacuum there is very little braking ability. Ford gave me a new pump but I had to bitch, I know you are looking into this, just wanted to let you know. This could very easily be a very dangerous situation. There should be a recall. Please don't wait until a child gets crushed under a pick-up to act.
Electronic brake vacum pump is loud when starting the truck, breaks are hard at start and fail when in reverse. Can hear the pump get loud at stops. This occurs every single time the struck is started and at idle. Them pump is loud for aprox 30 seconds to 1 minute on each occurrence.
No brakes when first started up. I had to throw it in park to keep from running over hill. After searching on line I find that this is a common problem with ecoboost trucks. Ford should recall these and put the updated part on.
On morning start up in my driveway the brakes made a crunching sound w/ a stiff brake pedal and would still roll forward while brakes were applied and the engine in idle. The dealer replaced the brake vacuum pump and harness under extended warranty less $100 deductible. Brakes work ok now but concerned if will fail same later after warranty. The dealer was very professional and courteous. Problem mentioned in TSB 15-0105 as stated on my bill.
Truck sometimes has almost no brakes after cold start. 34004 miles.
Vacuum assist pump went failed with no warning. Luckily it happened at a repair shop, but the fail was sudden and complete. If this had happened on the road either at low or high speed, it could easily resulted in loss of life. The fail was complete resulting in no way to stop the truck at all.
Tl - the contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while attempting to engaged the brakes, the pedal became hard to depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the electronic brake vacum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failure recurred two months later. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 58,000. Pm.
When I first start my f150 2011 and move it the brake pedal is hard as a rock it will take at least a few minutes to get back to normal, but it happens all the time when first start up. I did some research and found that a vacuum pump that provides power braking gets corroded. In my opinion this part should be recall because is a safety issue you could loose braking, I checked on the part and it cost around 600. 00. This issue should be looked into before someone gets hurt.
Brake pedal is really hard after start up, yet the brakes don't work. Brake assist vacuum pump whines few several seconds at start up. Truck rolled in the ditch at my house a couple times while I was backing out. Luckily, my ditch isn't very deep and no damage to my property or vehicle has occurred up to this point. This has happened to me several times, it is not an isolated incident. This is an expensive repair, and I really hope it doesn't cause me to collide with another vehicle or run over another person in a parking lot or somewhere similar before I can afford to perform the repair. According to my internet research, this is a fairly common problem with this model vehicle, and should really be recalled before someone is seriously hurt or even killed.
While backing out of my driveway one morning I was not able to brake because my brake pedal felt like it had seized and was stiff. I pushed extremely hard and it helped the vehicle slow down and there was a slight grinding sound. After the truck sat for a few minutes, the brakes began to work. This has happened to me on several different occasions now where when the truck has been idle not running for approximately 8 or more hours, the brakes seize and do not work for the first few minutes. I believe that this is caused by the electronic vacuum pump for the brakes malfunctioning. This is a serious safety concern because if the brakes should give out while I am on a main road and going full speed, lives could be in danger.
