The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and also informed the vehicle was not under a recall and will had to pay a fee for the repair and referred the contact to NHTSA. The contact stated that when the failure would occur, she would have to shut off the vehicle and wait a few minutes before restarting the vehicle. There is common issue with year models around 2012 concerning the power steering going out while driving. Power steering suddenly failed and the service advancetrac light came on while accelerating from a stop sign and turning left. Maneuvered the car down the street and couldn't navigate the driveway so I backed up and the power steering began working but the advancetrac light remained on. This light came on before but with no effect to the steering only the blinkers, which would not stay on. Disconnected the battery and light and problem went away. Spoke with the dealer and was told that it was also connected to the abs braking system and to schedule an appointment if these happens again. 114800 miles.

Electronic power assisted steering failure-epas is cutting out most of the time causing over steer and under steer conditions due to the amount of force needed to correct on left and right turns. Steering will get difficult to control on turns just like the non power steering vehicles of old. This occurs at startup and with vehicle in motion and ends with park and vehicle shut off. I have contacted Ford customer care several times and received not help, or potential solutions.

I was driving home from the speedway gas station an about 2 miles from the gas station my power steering failed completely while making a left hand turn,I had steering but no power steering an very difficult to steer the vehicle or make any turns!I finally made it home but still have to drive vehicle to repair shop for repairs to be done.
