Steering Column problems of the 2012 Ford F-150

1 Steering Column problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. While driving at an unknown speed and making a left turn, the contact heard a loud noise. There was an intermittent internal electrical failure and the steering wheel seized. Eckenrod Ford Lincoln (5255 al-157, cullman, al 35058, (800) 944-1389) indicated that the vehicle would need to be diagnosed to determine the cause of the failure. An independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and informed the dealer that two sensors and the steering column needed to be replaced. The dealer stated that the failures were a known issue. The vehicle was to be repaired by the independent mechanic. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was not available.

2 Steering Column problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2015

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact stated while traveling 50 mph they attempted to pass a vehicle and when they pressed the gas the engine misfired and the vehicle could not accelerate. The contact stated this has happened before the vehicle shit down as well. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and it was determined that it was a maintenance issue that not covered under the power train warranty. The dealer stated that the plugs needed to be cleaned and replaced. The contact stated that they took the vehicle to the dealer for this problem while it was still under warranty, but the dealer on only cleared the codes and did not repair the vehicle. The contact also stated that while in reverse the service advance track light illuminated on the instrument and the turn signals stopped working. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that there was no problem with the vehicle, but a mechanic told the contact that the failure was caused by a faulty steering nut in the steering column. The VIN was not available at the time of the complaint. The current mileage was 52820. Rl.
