36 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2019

Nhtsa action #ea15006, Ford company initiated customer satisfaction program 15n05. I had the electric vacuum pump (evp) replaced by for on 4/25/17 with 48,846 mi. By 3/19 I started hearing a noise in cab during cold starts, but it took a little while during cold starts it made the noise for me figure out is was coming from the engine area. I realize it was the evp again. Not 2 years and with about 63 and change miles, a mechanic said it was the evp again. I contacted Ford dealer and they denied replacing the bad part, saying I only had 1 year or 12k to have it replaced. All of Fords other parts get a 2 year warranty, except evp. Contacted Ford complaint line on 4/13, they told me to have issue verified by a Ford mechanic 1st. I did & on 4/17/19 gave them complaint, they gave me complaint #. The Ford dealer I used called me back on 4/29/19, said Ford denied fixing it as warranty, but offered to give me $100 of a $442 repair. Dealer said if I wanted the evp, to order it because they were on back order, it would be weeks. I called complaint line, asked to speak to someone else besides the warranty department about safety issue with evp, they gave me a new complaint # and said someone would call me- told them I wanted a supervisor, they said they were unavailable . I never heard from Ford. I called Ford back on 5/20/19, call taker said last complaint wasn't put in right, that's why no one called. I told her I wanted to talk to a supervisor, again said they were unavailable. One tried to call me at 9:23pm on 5/20?? then called me on 5/23/19 at 7:04pm- I advised him the evp is gone bad, sounds worst the the 1st time it went. He said I was outside warranty & they would not fix it under the warranty. I advised him that Ford knew this was an issue, because it is not longer a evp, it's a mechanical vacuum pump (mvp) now- it hooks into the motor. Ford put evp on as a band-ad.

37 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2019

In February 2017 while backing out of a parking space on a down hill slop I was unable to stop the vehicle and into grass area almost hitting a tree in reverse. The power brakes were so hard I could not move the brake pedal. Once it came to rest I put the vehicle in drive and let off the brake pedal then reapplied the brake and they worked. I then took the vehicle to the dealer and they performed a recall fsa 15n05 on 2/27/2017 with 35,514 miles on the vehicle. Then on 2/16/2019 I was backing out of my garage and again could not stop the vehicle and went into grass hill of my yard. Again my brake pedal was hard and no power brakes. When the vehicle came to a stop I let off the brake and reapplied and they started to work again. I took vehicle to the dealer that day for them to check it out. They notified me it again was the brake vacuum pump has has failed again and Ford will not fix it since it was fixed once before under this recall. The dealer also told me they cannot fix it due to the pumps being back ordered for at least 30 days. So the first recall repair only lasted 19,108 miles and less than 2 years. Luckily no one was behind me behind me to get run over and no damage occurred. My feeling that this is clearly a safety issue and parts should last longer. It appears to be a problem since the part is now on back order and looks to be a poor design.

40 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2018

Theory - vehicle manufacturers can simulate or induce failure of various parts/systems through the computer programming systems that run vehicles causing vehicle owners to make unneeded repairs which creates demand for parts and labor throughout the dealership network. My vehicle has had the following issues arise after the warranty expired. 1) dashboard display of gear vehicle is operating in stopped illuminating 2) windshield wiper stays on lowest intermittent setting after wiper is turned off 3) vehicle makes noise for 5-10 seconds following ignition during which brake pedal is soft. 4) sound of grinding/scraping from the front end 5) power steering is stiff during low speed turns my response to these situations were/are as follows: 1) checked the fuses - everything was good there. Several months later the display illuminated and has stayed illuminated ever since. 2) the local dealership recommended replacing a $100 part - I continued to switch the wipers on and off until wipers stayed off. Situation still requires on/off switching sometimes but has improved over time 3) the local dealership recommended replacement of a $400 brake vacuum pump. I continued to wait for brake pedal to firm before operating the vehicle and the situation resolved to normal presently. That is to say there is no problem with the brakes. 4) took the vehicle in for service and incurred a $700+ charge for iwes system. Dealership said the check valves had stuck open and dirt and dust had entered the system requiring replacement of parts 5) this is the latest issue with the vehicle. It only happens when turning after a stop and doesn't happen every day. I suspect it will resolve itself overtime if my theory as stated at the top is correct.

41 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2018

Bought 2012 f150 w/ ecoboost new. At 91k miles, experienced loss of power when accelerating while merging into heavy traffic flow. As a result of no power, we were almost t-boned into the passenger side which would have severly injured or killed my wife. Come to discover there is a chronic timing chain design defect and caused catastrophic engine failure at 91k miles. The engine was maintained religeously and oil changes were with nothing but high quality amsoil. Ford knows about the timing chain problem with the 2012 3. 5 ecoboost motor. Ford mechanic stated the failure was most likely delayed due to using amsoil, the failures typically occur earlier than 91k miles. Ford will not do anything about it. Ford dealer is putting a new Ford motor in it entirely at my expense. Also the vehicle had a recall for a brake problem involving the electronic brake vacuum system. Ford completed the recall but must have replaced the faulty parts with the same new faulty parts because it is happening again. Ford again will not stand behind their product and fix or cover the costs of the design defect problem. Ford even addresses this problem with their customer satisfaction program 15n05. Niether the Ford dealer completing the repairs or the Ford dealer where I purchased the truck new are able to do anything about the problems because Ford motor company will not allow them. Ford is at fault and both are safety issues that they refuse to fix. These defects are unsafe and unacceptable. So much for Ford customer satisfaction. I will never buy another Ford product again!.

42 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2018

Very little to no brakes at all. Of course the same issue everyone else is having. Vacuum pump/ brake booster! definitely a safety issue and how they haven't fixed this issue yet is beyond me. No actually I do know since I'm a Ford employee myself, but I'll save that for a representative. Remember quality is job one! eric neblett from louisville kentucky. Email: ericneblett@gmail. Com. 43 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2018

Loss of braking while backing up just after cold start, due to vacuum pump failure on 3. 5l ecoboost, reference Ford customer satisfaction program 15n05 & NHTSA investigation - even after having repair done previously by Ford under the program / extended warranty - vacuum pump failed again less than 2 years after first vacuum pump replacement causing the braking issues.

44 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2018

While attempting to start the truck I place my foot on the brake it is hard as a rock, will not move down or allow to use, put vehicle in gear no brakes almost drove through garage door this occurs every time I use the vehicle the cause is brake assist vacuum pump which should cause a recall, as somebody who uses this truck or one like it with the same problem could run over somebody no photos available as the part is hidden behind the left front headlight.

46 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2018

When I start the truck I have to let it idle and warm up for about five minutes. If I do not let the truck warm-up and I put it in gear the brake pedal is very firm and the truck will not stop. The brake pedal pulses like the abs system is kicking on but the truck will not stop. Recently, the truck will not stop if cruise control is turned on. If cruise control is on and I push the brake pedal the brake pedal is very firm and cruise control will not turn off and the truck will not slow down. I have to manually turn off cruise control from the steering wheel and then the brakes will work again. I was driving down interstate 44 in oklahoma when I tried to hit the brakes and the truck did not stop. Before I left on the road trip I let the truck warm-up so that the brakes would work when I first left the driveway.

47 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2018

I purchased the vehicle as certified used in 2014 with 32,000 miles. Since ownership, we have taken the vehicle to 4 different dealerships around the st. Louis area with complaints of excessive brake noise on start up. All dealerships have mentioned that it's normal and vehicles will make some noise after sitting. This issue can happen if vehicle is driven, parked and then moved within a 15-20 minute period. The noise was to the point of being obnoxious, at approximately 65,000 miles I replaced the brakes on both axles. The problem still continues to happen and has gotten even worse. Appears that there is already a service bulletin and Ford extended warranty regarding this issue, but multiple dealers have made it appear that there wasn't an issue.

48 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2018

I had NY truck in for service, was told there was a recall on vacuam oump and it was replaced. I did not initiate that repair. Less than 75000 miles. Now truck in for service again and I am told the pump needs to be replaced again, again not initiated by me, but now not covered. Still less than 100,000 miles. Pedal has no assist at startup. Hard to stop after startup.

I found out about the problem 3/10/18 the accident was at an intersection, trying to accelerate into traffic from stop when car in front dead stopped at green light. Speed at time of impact 4 mph?.

The new electric vacuum pump failed again 20,000 miles and 13 months later with the same issue. Ford will not repair. The parts are obviuosly faulty as my dealer told me several f150 trucks they repaired unter this recall are breaking again.

54 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2017

At initial startup after sitting over night the brakes do not work correctly. It sounds like the exact issue with the 13-14 recall. After a couple pumps on the brakes the pressure is back and they work fine. As I am backing out of the garage it feels like the brakes lock up a couple times and then they are fine.

55 Service Brakes problem

The driver then shifted the vehicle into park and was able to stop the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. No injuries were sustained. A police report was not filed. The brakes give out periodically I was almost involved in a collision due to it I took it to asheville nc Ford and they replaced a part but it is still doing it I now live in elko nv I checked for a recall and it says my trucks VIN showed no recall but it's doing the same thing as the trucks on recall. As I'd start in the morning and apply the brakes they'd be stiff and not work I'd try pumping them and they'd growel and barely work then after a short time they'd be find they gave out once while I was driving almost causing a wreck that's when I took it to asheville Ford nc and thought it was fixed but it's still doing it and you never know when it's going to happen not a real warm feeling.

59 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2016

First of all I have a pickup with a reconstructed title. Upon entering highway and starting to accelerate, I had to stop immediately for stopped vehicle in front of me. My pedal was real hard and it didn't feel like my normal pedal. I wasn't sure I would stop, but it did just in time. It is the hardest I have ever applied a brake pedal in my 44 plus years driving and not one tire locked up or any pulsation on pedal. Ford has sent me a letter with customer satisfaction program "15n05". Vacuum pump failure. Which applies to what happen to me. They informed me that this was a warranty issue that branded titles are not covered, not a safety issue, which would cover a branded title. How can brakes not be safety? Ford has changed this brake system after only a couple of years. Just because it only involves a couple of years, Ford should make this a safety issue not extended warranty to keep the NHTSA from forcing their hand.

67 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

At cold startup, the electric vacuum pump fails due to corrosion and the brakes do not work at all. The truck will not stop regardless of how much pressure is applied to the pedal during the first 2 minutes of startup time. This happens every time the vehicle is started after not running for more than 5 hours. I have nearly hit pets, kids, pedestrians, and mailboxes because of this. Parking attendants driving my vehicle have hit other vehicles because of this. This happens when the vehicle is first started, and immediately put into gear, it begins to move with no ability to use the brakes.

Replaced vacuum pump as this is a documented problem and after only a few days the problem resumed. This has been happening for several months. My truck is currently at my mechanic for further evaluation and potential repair. This is a serious safety concern and also costing me alot of money in repairs! I have not experienced any issues when driving on the roadway, however, I do not transport my family in the truck due to this issue.
