1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2026

Bought that as used at low milage with good service history indicated with pcm twice made me believe to trust as reliability and regular check ups. Carfax is not really honest, as well as I learned that powertrain itself has nothing to mechanism but actually programing meaning actual pcm itself has troubleshoots and not at its stability. It caused no speed on dash board sometimes even though got served but aftermath it gets more worse. I experienced collapsed in middle of high speed traffic to full stop. But the odd that mpg got great better than only during trouble times like first time ever seen over 15 mpg that reached between 16. 4 to 18. 7 for over a week. Now backward to 14 mpg. On the trouble occurances were r080 downshift to first gear notch caused by faulty outpost shift speed loss sensor. Also code of 19s 07 needs reprogram the powertrain control module has been common and I don't believe wiring is the issue thus the sensor is but reprogram itself is factor although it caused various issue like noise installing from park notch to drive notch, cannot increase or stay constant stead on speed, sometimes caused vibration that had no equality the pcm does not make correct specific of the fault. I checked with auto zone to do diagnosis code on mine was much unspecfic and inaccurate fact in which was not fact thus the manufacturer fails to program the correct troubleshoots. Pcm is very bad. I had to stay under 65 mph either stay at 60 mph sometimes and if I increase the truck has been feeling alike unstead and maybe could get collapsed for a weeks far.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2026

Truck downshifted to first gear from about 35 mph with no warning, and would not shift back, until it was shut off. I was in middle of road. No warning lights came on prior to this happening. The dealer confirmed a recall for this problem but my truck is a 2013 and recall currently is for 2014 forward. I never received a recall notice on my truck and the estimate to have it fixed is about $1700. Dealer said recall on my truck expired, in 2023. I am not safe driving this vehicle. I have had this truck since October of 2018, and bought it at toothman Ford grafton, wv. I never received a recall.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2026

On two separate occasions, the vehicle downshifted. Once while driving on the interstate at 70 mph, the vehicle downshifted to 3rd gear and locked up the tires. The rpms went up to 6000. The driver was nearly rear ended. In another instance while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle downshifted to 1st gear. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The issue cannot necessarily be reproduced on demand as it does not happen every time you drive the vehicle but it has happened more than once. The vehicle has been inspected by by a repair shop and the resolution appears to be a system update. There were no warnings, messages, or other symptoms prior to the events. The first event was in approximately January 2026 and the most recent incident February 22, 2026. The vehicle has not been driven since the last incident as we feel it is unsafe.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2026

2013 Ford f?150 limited – VIN [xxx] on [xxx], my 2013 Ford f?150 limited experienced a sudden and dangerous transmission failure involving the transmission conductor plate (lead frame). My son was driving the vehicle when the dashboard abruptly shut off, multiple warning lights illuminated, and the truck lost engine power. Shortly afterward, while braking, the engine attempted to accelerate on its own, and the vehicle resisted slowing down. This created an immediate and life?threatening situation. These symptoms match the known failure mode of defective 6r80 transmission lead frames, which NHTSA has previously identified as a serious safety hazard due to sudden loss of power, erratic shifting, unintended acceleration, and dashboard failure. The vehicle became undriveable and could not be safely transported to a Ford dealership. It had to be repaired at a nearby independent shop (auto stop elite of purcellville, va). The conductor plate was replaced on February 12, 2026, at a total cost of $1,689. 59. Despite this being a well?documented safety defect affecting many Ford f?150 owners, no recall or service campaign was ever issued for my VIN. No warnings appeared on Ford’s website, carfax, or through any Ford communication. Other owners have received reimbursement from Ford for the same failure, yet Ford provided no notice or remedy in my case. This defect placed my son’s life in danger and represents a clear safety issue that should be addressed. I am requesting that NHTSA review this incident as part of the ongoing pattern of conductor plate/lead frame failures in Ford’s 6r80 transmissions. We are informing you because we have contacted Ford and they have done nothing to resolve this. We had to have it repaired and were never aware that there was a safety recall. We expect to be reimbursed in full for this repair by Ford. To date - we are being ignored and will now pursue with the virginia attorney general's office as well. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 55.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2026

While driving the truck it suddenly shifts down gears, and shoots up rpms, causing the truck to slow down drastically and causing a loss of control in the truck. Potentially causing a severe accident. This issue could seriously cause harm to myself and to others especially going at highway speeds. When turned off the truck won’t start up again without clearing codes.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2026

Truck would randomly go into limp mode while driving. Highways, country roads, middle of town, making it difficult to pull off the road with no ability to accelerate to safely merge off the roadway. The cause was from the lead frame in the transmission which was under an “expired” recall 19n01. Dealership charged me $1,500 to fix this. How is this not a safety issue that should have been taken care of by the dealership at no charge. I just bought the truck mid December 2025 and am not happy to have to shell out $1,500 to fix a known issue like this.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2026

While driving my 2013 f150 eco boost is started shifting erratically. While at 60 mph the truck would down shift on it's own to 1st gear and my truck would skid. Luckily I did not crash but it's dangerous and it's my only transportation. I took it to Ford and they said I needed a $8k transmission replacement. I ended up taking to a transmission shop for a rebuild but shortly after if did it again. The transmission shop replaced the valve but said Ford needed to reflash the tcm. When I asked for them to follow recall 19s07 they said I would need to bring it in and pay them another $400 for a diagnostic and they couldn't just reflash it. Now I'm in a position where I have to drive what feels like a timebomb and I have no way out of it.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2026

I am an owner of a 2013 f150 with a 5. 0 liter v8 engine my transmission speed sensor malfunction causing my truck to abruptly lose power as I was doing 85mph down the turnpike as to where I had to coast to the shoulder of the road and my dash cluster I had no readings of digital components and I had a wrench symbol on my dash board as I was confused of what just happened I killed the engine and restarted it and I took off to get home ASAP during my ride home I encountered this problem a couple more times , I took it and had a diagnostics on it and it showed a code of p0720 which indicated a transmission speed sensor problem so I looked up any recalls on this issue and found that in fact my truck had been recalled for this issue so I contacted Ford and they have my truck under the customer appreciation program and informed me that I was past the extended warranty program and my truck was over 150,000 miles so basically they were no longer responsible to fix it but my truck is actually under the recall status because it has the 5. 0 liter engine and that recall calls for a programming and molded lead frame replacement and from what I read that recall don't expire because it is a safety issue and the code is stored in my pcm and cant be erased so my question is , is my truck still covered under the 19s19 recall since my engine is the 5. 0 liter v8 coyote engine ?.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2026

Car would jerk and transmission was failing.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2026

Subject: safety complaint – transmission lead frame failure (2013 Ford F-150) I am submitting a safety complaint regarding my 2013 Ford F-150 (VIN: [xxx] ), which has experienced a confirmed failure of the transmission lead frame connector (output speed sensor), a known defect previously acknowledged by Ford motor company. This vehicle has only 28,000 original miles and has been properly maintained. Despite the extremely low mileage, the transmission began exhibiting unsafe and unpredictable behavior, including harsh shifting and the risk of sudden downshifting while driving. A Ford dealership has diagnosed the issue as a failure of the transmission lead frame connector. This component is critical to proper transmission operation, and its failure directly impacts the vehicle’s ability to shift safely and maintain control. Ford motor company previously issued a customer satisfaction program extending warranty coverage for this specific defect. However, that coverage was limited by time rather than mileage or actual condition of the vehicle. Although my vehicle is outside the time-based coverage window, the extremely low mileage clearly indicates that this is not a normal wear-and-tear issue. Instead, it represents a premature failure of a known defective component. This defect presents a significant safety concern. The failure can cause: - sudden and unexpected downshifting into lower gears - loss of speed or erratic vehicle response - increased risk of rear-end collisions or loss of control a transmission that can abruptly change gears without warning creates a dangerous condition for both the driver and surrounding traffic. Given the known nature of this defect, the very low mileage of the vehicle, and the potential safety risks, I respectfully request that NHTSA review this issue and consider whether additional action is warranted to protect drivers, including further investigation or expanded coverage. Sincerely, [xxx] , indian information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2025

I was driving about 55 mph when suddenly my 2013 truck down shifted to either first or third gear and I barely was able to control it to get off the road. The truck just bowed up and the vehicle behind me almost hit me. The speedometer stopped working and a wrench icon appeared. I tried to take off and the truck was stuck in third gear. Ford dealership said they would fix it if it was the oss sensor. I paid to have it towed and they charged me over 2,000. There was a safety recall 24s37 on the 2014 with the 6r80 transmission the same kind my truck has. My 2013 did exactly the same thing as the 2014 and I believe it should have a safety recall. There was a extended warranty or something either 10 years or 150,000. My truck has 130,000. I talked to Ford customer satisfaction but they have done nothing. I told them I was going to report it.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2025

Driving 70 mph on highway. Transmission suddenly downshifted from 6th to 5th. Cruise control turned off. Speedometer went to 0 mph. Airbag warning light came on. Wrench indicator flashed. From this point on, transmission would only use gears 3,4,5. Speedometer continued to read 0. Cruise control remained inoperative and airbag warning light remained on. Wrench indicator turned off after a few minutes. Was able to limp home, but truck had difficulty pulling out from stoplights and stop signs due to not being able to shift below 3rd gear. After shutting off ignition and restarting. Operation returned to normal.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2025

Took vehicle to dealership to have recall 19v075 completed. Dealership informed me that Ford motor company will only replace the multi- frame part in the transmission that contains the oss sensor if the vehicle is not older than 10yrs and 150,000 miles. The service advisor at the dealership informed me that if they perform the pcm program update without the mechanical repair being done the intermittent downshift problem would get worse. The truck has downshifted while going down the highway at approximately 60mph and the abrupt downshift nearly caused me to loose control of the vehicle.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2025

Transmission shifted into 1st gear while doing 65 mph on the freeway. The rear tires locked up as a result and the truck spun out in front of on coming traffic putting myself and my 6 month old nephew in a life threatening situation. This is not okay. I was told the most recent recall done on this vehicle was done to not allow this to happen. This issue has been an on going problem with these trucks and Ford has still yet to rectify the problem. This can cause serious bodily harm to myself and others around these vehicles. I feel Ford needs to do something about this issue.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2025

I was sold a 2013 Ford f150 XLT with a serious documented safety issue. The issue is a transmission molded lead frame failure. This specific component defect is classified as a known, safety-critical issue by Ford (customer satisfaction program 19n01). The car dealership that sold me this vehicle is township auto line 442 delsea drive sewell, NJ 08080. I was able to get the truck repaired, however the business that sold me the truck is unwilling to reimburse me for the repairs for the safety-critical molded lead frame repair. This is a matter of selling a vehicle with a known, active safety hazard. I can provide the Ford repair invoice upon request to verify the diagnosis and repair cost.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2025

There have been multiple problems with the leadframe in the 6r80 model of transmission. I have had my speedometer go out and cause the truck to shift into 1st gear causing my wheels to lock up while im driving 60mph down the highway. Ford states on the campaign to be eligible it must be under 10 years or 150000 miles whichever comes first of the customer satisfaction program but I believe it should be considered a saftey recall. The vehicles should be eligible for this program well beyond 10 years for safety reasons. In the winter it will be even more hazardous. Myself or someone else could die due to the wheels locking up. I have researched and found many others with the same issue and this should be escalated to a proper safety recall rather than a csp.

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2025

Driving on interstate highway. Entered a tunnel at 65 mph. Near the end of the tunnel traffic started to slow down. I applied the brakes and the engine started to accelerate. I had full pressure on the brake pedal but the vehicle kept accelerating. There was a loud fan noise. Fortunately the vehicles ahead started to accelerate up to the speed limit - and beyond. I took my foot off the brake and turned on cruise control. The fan sound stopped and the truck maintained cruise control setting. I had heard the fan speed up twice before but I was parking each time1 and turned off the engine within seconds of hearing the fan motor speed up. I returned to my home and heard the fan motor speed up once more. I took the vehicle in to my local service station. They were able to recreate the problem. "bad thermostat causing engine cooling fan to come, increasing idle speed. Replaced thermostat".

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2025

Vechicle shuts off during high speeds causing driver to loose control and driver and passengers to be tossed around even while constrained with seat belts.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2025

The speed sensor in transmission isn't working properly it shift down to 1st gear as shown in these recalls 19s07,19s19,and 24s37. Im not sure if it is related to 19n01 in any way but the problem was that its showing on my VIN that they conducted a recall 19s07 on my 2012 F-150 in the past but then after that there was a 19s19 recalled added because the prior 19s07 didn't work properly or hold up ,so what that meant was they should have made it aware to all vehicles that was performed with this reprogramming recall but they did not send any notification or make available to my f150 especially knowing the reprograming didn't hold up, so I was never granted access or authorization and notified that it need to be re done . Also the problem I noticed says its with the software in 19s19 and 19s07 but this seems more like a speed sensor problem that's indicated in 24s37 and that seems to be a hardware issue ,if u look into this issue on line you'll notice the fix for this issue is for the sensor to be replaced in the transmission . I feel that Ford should be responsible for the issue with my f150 .

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2025

While driving at highway speeds, about 55mph, transmission just jerked. Happened multiple times until I could get it in to be serviced. Service light comes on, speedometer goes to zero, safety lights come on and its not able to downshift. I fear this could be a very dangerous especially at this speeds. . After stopping and turning of the road it still would not reset. It would not reset until I parked the vehicle and shutdown then restarted. Picture attached shows the dash. . . . . While going 55 speedometer went to zero. Was in 5 gear and would not change, mileage went to "--------" engine light and airbag lights come on. . . . . . Nhtsa site shows no recalls but Ford does show their own recall. Ford will not cover this repair because they said they notified of a recall but nothing was ever sent to me or told to me in any previous trips to dealership. This is a known safety risk and Ford should still be pushing to get these parts replaced. Fords campaign after to search online. 19n01 description transmission molded leadframe.

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2025

Transmission downshifts while driving transmission stays in first gear transmission bangs wrench appears on dash all control is lost.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2025

My 2013 has the same transmission problem of an unexpected downshift to 1st gear while driving at highway speeds as the newer model year f150’s. I would like to see all f150’s with that model transmission (6r80) included into the recall. I believe this would include 2011 through 2018 model years.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2025

F150 downshifted into first gear while driving down the highway at full speed. Speedometer stopped registering. Sudden and abrupt deceleration. Engine warning light on. Took the truck to the local Ford dealer, malloy Ford charlottesville, va and service department said the molded leadframe needed to be replaced per customer satifaction program (csp) 19n01, but Ford would not cover the cost. I believe that Ford needs to cover the cost. I never received a letter notification from Ford and had it in service at the same dealer in August 2022 and they did not notify me of the outstanding csp and need to service per 19n01.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2025

The faulty output shaft speed sensor (oss) causes a signal loss between the sensor and the powertrain control module (pcm), leading to a sudden downshift into first gear, regardless of the vehicle's speed. This sudden downshift can cause the rear tires to slide, potentially leading to a loss of control and an increased risk of a crash. There is already a recall for the 2014 models and my 2013 is having the exact same issue. This has been an ongoing problem since I bought the truck in December 2024.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2025

My 2013 f150 had been acting strangely in showing a wrench on the led screen and shutting off the electrical components on my dash. When this happens, it also sticks the transmission in between 3-5th gear. I am unable to shift down to 1st or 2nd gear, or up to 6th gear. After this happened a few times, it started to shift me in to park and stop my wheels from turning. This happened to me 3 times while traveling down the highway at 80mph. All 3 times, it lasted only a few seconds, but it was enough to screech my brand new tires and leave marks on the ground as if I had slammed on my brakes. It returns to normal and continues down the road.

26 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2025

Safety issue. Engine code p0720 which means the output speed sensor sends erratic signals to the power train module or pcm. There is a recall on this truck for this exact thing. What happens is the gears in the transmission don’t shift smoothly and what happened to me was I was driving 70mph all of sudden the truck made a loud bang and I was in 6th gear and the truck went from being in 6th gear just dropped into 1st gear and at 70mph it’s pretty frightening. The brakes locked up and I managed to stay calm and regain control of the vehicle and pull over. Immediately I seen a big yellow wrench on the dashboard along with the check engine light so I turned it off and restarted it thinking maybe the computer will reset. The truck is literally stuck in like 3rd or 4th gear because I can’t go past 40 mph. I was only 5 mins away from home as soon as I got home I use my code machine and the engine code I received was p0720. I contacted my larsen Ford in lakewood NJ they informed me about the recall but told me that they’re not paying for any repairs because it’s past 10 years. It ended in January of 2024. I didn’t buy the truck until July 2024 I had no idea about any recalls. I’m not the original owner. I just assumed since it’s a safety issue that the manufacturer must be responsible for all repairs regardless of how long it’s been. I bought the truck with only 38,000 miles on it presently it has 40,000 miles on it now but I don’t think it’s fair that I have to pay for everything to be fixed myself.

27 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2025

While driving my vehicle speedometer goes to zero which no recognition of speed. If brought to a stop I can’t get out of first gear. Ford issued a “customer satisfaction program 19n01” related to the 6r80 transmissions, sudden transmission downshift. This “customer satisfaction” should have been a non expiring recall. The check engine sometimes flicks on but does not stay on or show a code. Issue is intermittent and lasts 10-15 min until vehicle recognizes it’s not incapable of shifting. Given this severely limiting malfunction I highly recommend the recall be extended indefinitely to make sure these vehicles are fixed properly.

28 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2025

Truck has been thrown into limp mode multiple times with codes p0720 and p0722 being thrown per obd scanner. Turning the truck off and on gets rid of the wrench and check engine light and allows the transmission to work normally again. The first two times were on acceleration, months apart. It now does this consistently at highway speeds so I am unable to take it on busy roads, the last time I was on the interstate I was going below traffic speed with hazards on until the exit because the truck slowed from 80 to 40. It couldn't get up the ramp after pulling off so I took side roads home. As far as I can tell this is associated with customer satisfaction program 19n01 and Ford sold these trucks with a faulty lead frame. The truck is 12 yrs 120k miles instead of the 10 yr 100k warranty Ford offered for this part specifically, I don't see how the age makes a difference if Ford has admitted to using faulty parts in the transmission already.

29 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2025

2013 Ford f150 speed control issues. When driving the vehicle will downshift hard. Thankfully I was not driving at higher speeds. The vehicle is available for inspection. The problem has been confirmed by a Ford dealership. I was told by the service manager that the truck was having the symptoms of the recall 19s07, but that the “recall has expired. ” there were no warning lights prior to the problem. A wrench symbol appeared on my dash screen when the truck downshifted. I spoke with Ford customer support and they said there was no recall.

30 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2025

Truck dropped into lower gears without notice from high speed (and at low speeds). Engine revs and actually speeds up without foot on gas pedal without warning. Speedometer will stop working when this happens also. Almost caused accident. Other similar vehicles from 2013-2019 are in recall for similar issues. Ford won't fix and says it is not an issue for this vehicle.

31 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2025

The contact owns a 2013 Ford-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. In addition, the contact stated that the air bags and the check engine warning light were illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the road. The contact turned the vehicle off and allowed the vehicle to sit for several minutes. The vehicle was restarted, and the system reset independently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 102,000.

32 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2025

My wife was driving my truck and the gear light came on the dash. The truck went into limp mode in the middle of traffic and about caused her to get hit from behind. I took the truck to long lewis Ford in prattville alabama and was told that I was a year out of warranty for the recall that is on the transmission for my truck. Ford knows they had issues with 2013 f150's but now they do not want to fix my transmission. So I have to spend $800 to 1k on fixing my transmission when Ford knew they have an issue and are willing to let people drive unsafe vehicles.

33 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2025

The faulty output shaft speed sensor (oss) causes a signal loss between the sensor and the powertrain control module (pcm), leading to a sudden downshift into first gear, regardless of the vehicle's speed. This sudden downshift can cause the rear tires to slide, potentially leading to a loss of control and an increased risk of a crash. There is already a recall for the 2014 models and my 2013 is having the exact same issue.

34 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2024

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at 55 mph the wrench symbol illuminated and the vehicle lost motive power and went into limp mode. The contact coasted to the side of the road and turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle returned to normal functionality. The failure occurred a total of three times; however, during the third failure, the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the output speed sensor module had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact of an undisclosed customer satisfaction program however, the 10-year limitation had been exceeded. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer transferred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.

35 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2024

Trying to take off from a parking spot the truck would not shift from first gear. The exact same thing has happened about four or five more time since the first always in the same manner. One time it shifted into third gear and stuck there. When this happens the dash cluster does not read anything. It just shows what gear it is in. No rpm, no speed.
