Hello, I am writing a request to supplement 19n01 on Ford models as I had a near accident that almost happened. First, as I was driving, my mileage odometer was glitching showing dashes "------", also notice that my check engine light came on and as a result the airbag off warning was showing as well. As a result of all this, seems that the vehicle malfunction as my vehicle was in "limp mode" while all of this was happening and when pressing the gas no acceleration was happening (mind you that was all happening in heavy traffic). After moving steadily and avoiding heavy traffic, I parked my vehicle to the side and turn it on and off. This seems to restart the system however my check engine was still on. After further research on this issue, I see that this is a known issue that happens with the model of my vehicle. After calling the dealership with my issue, they state it is a customer program rather than a recall. I beg NHTSA to please supplement this known issue and instead of 10 years, please use the 150k mileage. I cannot be driving with this unsafe issue as it was a scary issue that happen during traffic.
Attempted to mount my spare tire and the metal covering on my lugnuts had expanded causing me to be unable to remove the flat tire. Done some research and discovered this to be a common occurance on my 2013 f150. Thi issue w/Ford needs to be resoveld to prevent any furthure diffilculties. Needs to be a solid lugnut to replace those that have the metal skin covering the lugnut. Thanks.
I had to pay $68. 71 to replace swollen lug nuts.
4wd solenoid and actuator malfunction to engage and disengage 4wd at will without using the 4wd button causing damage to both solenoid, actuator and wheel hubs which cause issues with driving and using 4wd on the vehicle safely. This is known issue with 2003-2020 model f150 (non raptor models) as well as expedition. There is no warnings or messages to alert the driver of any issues that are happening until it's too late and the hub is grinded down causing wheel issues then.
I’ve went though 8 wheel bearings in the last 6 months on the drivers side tire alone. I’ve had to replace brake hoses every few weeks and I’ve had to take it to two different dealerships. Also it keep downshift from 6 gear to first with no warning. I’m afraid it’s gonna cause me to wreck.
During routine service, was told lug nuts were very swollen and need replaced, which I did at team Ford, las vegas, nv.
I was turning into gas station when I applied brakes to turn, power steering quit working and brakes, luckily there was no one exiting or I would have crashed into them. I was able to muscle steering wheel to make the turn. I then muscled steering wheel to a parking spot where brakes began to work. Dash board read check advance track there were no check engine lights or warning prior to turning. I then shut off vehicle then turned back on and it ran fine but drove with caution. This has happened 2 other times where power steering has feld but came back suddenly but this time on 2/11/22 I had no power steering at all for at least 60 to 70 feet. I have not had a mechanic or dealership look at because I don't know when it will happen its more of a hit and miss. The fact that there's no check engine light or warning lights on I believe any diagnostics would not show anything wrong.
Lug nuts are swollen dealership wants 192 to replace with same ones the are defective replaced once already they won't do a tire rotation due to the lug nuts.
Swollen lugnuts. Ford can’t rotate my tires because my wheels have swollen lugnuts. We’ll it’s a known problem at Ford and apparently has been for a long time . Why can’t one of their technicians takeoff my lugnuts?I have no clue I wasn’t even provided the information until I read the service report. It was once mentioned to me before at a servicealthough I thought it was a joke. Because they didn’t note that in the service report. Why there’s no recall I have no idea because it is a safety issue!!.
Ford dealership could not rotate my tires because of swollen lug nuts . Safety issue as they said the lug nuts could break and I would lose a tire resulting in a crash .
While driving the power to my speedometer would go out. Also the truck would increase in rpms. The last time it happened the wheels locked up on me. In most cases the problem would be fixed once I turned the car off and re started it.
Vehicle was stationary during routine maintenance: oil/filter change, multi point inspection, tire rotation. Lug nuts were swollen and cracked creating potential safety problem. Swelling due to bimetallic separation of the lug nuts. Lug nuts were replaced at a cost of about $200.
Driver noted unusual lack of positive control sensation during normal maneuvering while driving. Took the vehicle to local service center. Suspension, w08heel and tire material condition appeared satisfactory. Lug nuts were swollen. 24 lug nuts had to be replaced. Tires were rotated. Vehicle maneuvering appears normal after repair. Finding and repair was completed by tom frost firestone, inc. Warrenton, va 20186 invoice 1012727 540-347-1500.
While driving, the steering seized up making the vehicle nearly impossible to control. Multiple warning lights: "service advanced track, power steering, hill descent assist". Dealer reports that epas system has gone bad/failed. I've read numerous reports on the steering/electric issue. This is a major safety concern and needs to be recalled. This truck is in immaculate shape and has 67,000 miles on it. Steering should not be failing. Please get a recall going on this before someone dies I also had a wheel stud/bolt sheer off two weeks back.
I take my Ford F-150 to one dealership for maintenance and now they say the lug nuts need replaced. If were on the road and had a flat I could not remove the tire due to the damaged nuts. I understand this is a known defective item that Ford continues to install on all vehicles.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle downshifted on its own. In addition, the wheels seized and caused the contact to lose control of the vehicle. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). The contact stated that grapevine Ford (located at 801 e, TX-114, grapevine, TX 76051, (817) 756-6642) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the part was not available for the repair. The failure mileage was 64,950. Parts distribution disconnect.
I was driving down the road( speed limit of 40 mph) and my spare tire broke free from under the bed of the truck!!.
On 4/2/19 while driving at approx. 50 mph, all at once, the speedometer dropped to 0, air bag light came on, and the truck started running an idling rough. When we got to our destination we were planning on calling on someone to pick us up. We started the truck to move it out of the way, and it was back to normal. We drove home no problems. I drove the truck to work the very next day, 10 minutes away, ran errands, about 30 minutes driving, and went back to work. Still no problems. As I was getting ready to leave work, I hadn't been driving but a few minutes, then the truck all of sudden downshifted to first gear. I almost lost control. I was up to about 45 mph at this point. The back end of the truck kept sliding until it finally slowed down. Luckily I live in a small town with not a lot of traffic. I am not going to attempt to drive it again until out local dealership checks it out. I called the dealership and they have advised us to bring it there on Monday April 8th, and leave it with them.
Had to have all 24 lug nuts replaced at 62,000 miles. I had to replace 12 lug nuts before this starting in 2014. . Very difficult to remove. They get destroyed removing but get stripped and are impossible to remove with supplied wrench. I work in the woods and can't get road service. These lug nuts are a poor design.
Date 11/9/2018 vehicle: Ford f150 2013 driver: experienced miles: 148,653 date of incident: 11/1/2018 location: south bound on I-275 in southeast, mi road condition: dry driver was on the highway going 73 mph in the left lane passing a semi when the vehicle shifted from 6th gear instantly into 1st gear. Causing the vehicles rear end to lock up and throw the vehicle sideways. Driver was facing the side of the tractor trailer head on now while the rear end was bouncing off of the rumple strips. The motor was well over 6800 rpms causing the tac to bounce between 6500 and 7000rpm. Not only did this put a lot of stress on the motor and turbo, this also shocked all of the driveline components. A shift like this is commonly referred to as a "money shift" because it destroys an entire driveline as well as the motor. Luckily the vehicles driveline was still intact after this harsh downshift and the driver was able to throw the truck into manual mod shift the truck back up to 5th gear and counter steer 2-3 times to correct from the tail end kicking out. The driver believes that an average driver would have died in this same situation. The driver feels lucky to be alive after experiencing this. After the driver pulled the truck into the nearest Ford dealer and explained what happened they told the driver that they have not heard of this problem before and that they wouldn't be able to look at the vehicle for at least a week. The drive then called Ford to report the issue and on three separate calls on 11/1/2018 Ford told the driver that they will not cover the problem, because it's not a re-call. The driver would greatly appreciate it if the NHTSA can open an investigating into the 2013+ models of the f150's transmission suddenly shifting from 6th to 1st gear. This is a very deadly malfunction especially with icy roads just around the corner in mi.
Driving down interstate and truck suddenly shifted to 3rd gear locking up my tires. Thank god I didn't lose control and drove off the road to a stop. Turned off truck and back on. Drove ok for a bit. Will keep dropping gears or randomly shifting up and down. From a start it could sometime try to go into 5th. At times all the dash indicators flash and go to dashes.
Rack an pinion defect. All over the forums same run of truck between 2011 and 2013 with traction and hill decent mode errors loss of power steering in bad situations like on highway. Ford dealer acknowledged many complaints but Ford will not honor repair. My blinker failed power steering locks up and Ford says have to replace whole system.
Unable to take lug nuts off wheel due to excessive wear.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving, the vehicle lost power. The wheels seized, the vehicle slid, and the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was coasted safely to the road shoulder. The contact had to drive through the back streets to avoid traffic. The vehicle was driven to sunrise Ford (16005 valley blvd, fontana, CA 92335, (888) 629-1239), but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was then driven to upland Ford (555 w foothill blvd, upland, CA 91786, (909) 333-4242) where it was diagnosed that a new motor was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 100,000.
Wheel lug nuts are two piece design and swell over time due to corrosion making it difficult to remove with the factory supplied lug wrench in the event of road side flat tire. This vehicle only had 45k miles and wheel could not be taken off at road side with lug wrench. Design is problematic and we request the manufacture to recall lug nuts or issue a field campaign to reimburse owners who have already had to replace them. Truck was parked when attempting repair.
Drivers side front wheel wore out along with the rotor. Lost brake pedal with no lost of fluids. Had to replace brakes and rotors but still having trouble with that wheel and rotor along with hardly and brake pedal. It started a long time ago. Just kept getting worse.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while reversing the vehicle, the contact heard a loud noise and noticed that the driver front tire was flat. The contact mentioned that the rim caused the tire to be blown out. The tire was replaced with a spare tire and was taken to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
I purchased my 2013 Ford f150 three weeks ago, certified pre-owned from mountain view Ford in chattanooga, TN. While pulling out of my driveway this morning, the truck was engaged in 4x4h mode,(due to inclement weather) it started making a terrible popping noise that sounded like the front left tire was coming off as I was turning to the right. I pulled over and let the car idle for a while. I then kept driving and when going up a steep hill it started doing it again, so I pulled over at a gas station and the loud popping/banging noise happened again as I was turning left this time. It was so loud it startled the customers who were fueling their vehicles. Sounded like a piece of metal snapping in two. Is this related to NHTSA # 10058199? or Ford TSB 44964? I had to disengage the 4x4h and put my truck back in 4x2h a to make the noise stop. We had icy roads this morning, which is the reason I purchased a 4x4 to begin with.
We have taken this vehicle in three times for squeeling brakes and it still makes a high pitched noise when I stop.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Ford f150. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 10 mph, the front passenger side wheel fractured and was dislocated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician had not responded however, the vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000. Kc.
Mywife was driving to work and one tired went down so she was middle of the road. With low tire. The tired started peeling on the side. Now we have three tires all peeling on sides and showing metal. We call michlin and they would do nothing with tires. Still under warranty with 12000 miles, 15000 miles and they would do nothing about it. Dot should make recall michlin tires p265/60r 18 ltx a/s dot apc4. These tire should be recall before someone get hurt.
Purchased truck in March 2014 & since have had over 10 flat tires. Took truck to dealership & was told tires are cracking due to being driven on a gravel road. Was not aware that the vehicle we purchased was not suitable to be driven on the gravel roads we live on. Tires are a safety hazard for anyone that drives on gravel roads.
There was a clunking noise and then grinding noises, particularly loud when applying the brakes. I stopped at the nearest tire/brake center (tires plus, 2975 university pkwy, sarasota FL). They found that the front right brake caliper bolts were completely missing and the inside of wheel was grooved where it had been rubbing against the bolt before it broke off. They advised taking it to Ford, which I did. Ford kept the car and fixed the caliper and replaced the wheel with a new wheel, but did not have any explanation for how bolts could work loose.
Bad steering vibration when braking at highway speeds. Took vehicle to dealer and they indicated warped rotors that had to be machined back to proper surface - already!. Vehicle is only a few months old, only approx. 15k miles. Have noticed online that others have had the same issue. This seems like a safety concern with Ford using sub-standard brake rotor materials. Additionally, the vehicle would drift to the left - dealer indicated alignment issue, but required $450 additional kit in order to allow for adjustment since it was already at peak of specs (vehicle has never had alignment since it was new, vehicle has never had an incident that would cause misalignment). Vehicle seems unsafe with these issues and now that the rotors are 'thinner' due to the resurfacing, the warping will likely occur more frequently until they (and other brake parts and/or suspension and steering parts) need to be replaced. This can lead to premature brake, component, suspension and steering systems wear and/or failure which should be a major safety concern. Ford would not warranty the alignment issue and extra cost nor replacement rotors but only resurface ('turn') the original rotors.
I bought a 2013 F-150 with 7 miles on in 8/2013. At 22,000 mile the inside of the front passenger tire was bald. Both rear tires was bald in the center. Ford service adviser and the service manager told me that the f150 trucks where "eating the tires off". The dealer ship got me a credit towards new tires but although these where factory installed they said 50% was the best they could knock off the price. My alignment was off on the front by . 01 degrees and they said they had verified tire rotation had occurred that it was a malfunction in the tire caused by the truck.
