The rear doors on the truck would not open. Ford reports that it is a "wear and tear" issue b/c the piece at the end of the cable that pulls the latch to open the door is plastic. My concern is not being able to open the doors if there were people (perhaps a baby in a car seat), in the back seat and there was an accident. It seems to me that it is a simple engineering fix. My complaint to Ford went nowhere. There are several videos on youtube about this problem so I suspect it is a fairly common problem.
My back up camera works sometimes but not every time works when it wants too when I need it it doesn’t work but when I don’t need it it’s working.
My 2014 F-150 stx 3. 7l flex and ecoboost truck has 17,000 miles on it and the pcm has failed according to the dealership. I had my truck smogged for the 1st time on Dec. 19th, 2022, along with having the oil and it's filter changed, the engine filter changed, and a new battery installed which was recommended by the dealership. I then drove my vehicle 179 miles until Jan. 1st, 2023, until it wouldn't start. It would only click, click, with no cranking noise when I tried starting it. The battery was strong, with no dimming of the lights, and the remote for opening the doors worked fine. There was no error code or check engine light revealed on the dash. I had it towed to the dealership on a Thursday and didn't receive a diagnosis until the following Tuesday. Why did it take so long for a diagnosis? what if this failure happened while I was driving, as this is the brain of the vehicle which makes everything run? pcms should last at least 75,000 miles and this would be considered an early failure. Is this failure something that the dealership could have created? I was given an estimate of $1592. 00 to replace the pcm by the dealership. I have been informed by them that this part is on back order. My truck has been sitting at the dealership for almost a month now waiting on this back order part. Why are there so many of these pcms needed around the country? why are they failing? thank you for your assistance. Donna marie gorsche.
2 complaints 1st was my back window spiderwebbed without being hit when it was super cold in wisconsin on Dec 22 2022. It was a loud bang really startled me and I had no clue what happened until the next day. 2nd my wipers will turn on by them self sometimes and there is no intermittent wipers just the medium speed where there is no hesitation or delay.
Took my 2014 F-150 in for an oil change on 09/09/2022 at brondes Ford in maumee ohio, in the time spent there waiting for the vehicle to be done a representative came out to tell me that they were unable to rotate my tires do to swelling of the [lug nuts] and said it would cost me $120. 00 from what I read online this is a big problem with Ford vehicle's.
We have experienced 2 incidents where a wrench appears on the screen followed by a complete loss of acceleration. The first incident occurred while on the highway driving 65 mph, we made it over to the side of the highway, shut the vehicle off and restarted after about 1-2 minutes. We were able to make it home without another incident. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they could not find any error codes. I had a tune-up done before the second incident occurred. We were traveling 40 mph on a very narrow curvy road during the second incident and were extremely fortunate to clear the corner with just enough room to get the truck off the side of the road before coming to a complete stop. Just as before a wrench appears on the screen. We shut the truck off and restarted it after 1-2 minutes and was able to make it home without another incident.
Rear, 3 piece window with center slider, driver side window shattered with no incident or impact. Online research suggested possible rear window defrost malfunction.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various highway speeds the transmission had erroneously downshifted causing the vehicle to suddenly reduce speeds. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission lead frame was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 155,000.
My rear driver side window shattered while I was driving. It was around Jan 8th 2022 give or take the temperature was freezing but no ice had to be scraped. I warmed my truck up for a 3-4 mins before leaving work. As I was on the freeway no more than 10 min after starting my truck I was driving about 60mph at 5:30 in the morning I herd a super loud pop sounded almost like a rock hit my windshield but didn’t see anything. I didn’t find out what had happened until I got home. It did make me swerve just a little bit not know was happening but no cars were out that early. So only one of the three sections shattered but not into pieces it’s still intact as of now but is in a ton of little gravel size pieces. So I’m not able to use the electric middle window to open as I’m sure it will completely break the other section. Also I was not even using the rear defrost at the time just the front window part. I’m sure the temperature is to blame but either way it could have been a lot worse if there was traffic at the wrong time. I’ll be turning into insurance to have it fix in the next few days.
Brakes are hard to push. Verified by independent service center. Warning message when it happened.
The symptoms are exactly as described in the leadframe recall of 2013 F-150 trucks - my truck is 2014. The truck suddenly shifts to 1st gear while travelling at higher speeds, sluggish acceleration, check engine light and the wrench icon appearing on the display, mpg display dropped to zero, and the speedometer stopped working while driving. The symptoms appeared gradually over the last 6 months, with the speedometer and the wrench icon happening yesterday. The last time I took it to the mechanic, about 2 months ago, the check engine light was on, but no codes. This is a safety issue because sudden shifting to 1st gear while at a higher speed is going to cause loss of control and an accident.
The back doors use to swing open when driving now they won’t open at all. Both of our raptors did this. It is a problem.
In October 2017 the entire rear window heating element was identified as defective. The entire window panel was replaced with Ford contributing partial monetary renumeration for the repair. On November 2, 2021 the rear window heater was activated. The indicator light did not “light up”. Approximately 15 minutes later a loud “bang” was heard in the cabin and the presence of smoke was evident. Upon pulling over and inspecting the vehicle, smoke was emanating from the rear right (passenger side) bottom corner. It was also noticed that the entire right panel. Ford has indicated that there is currently no recall associated with this. There are multiple reported incidents of the occurring over many years upon performing a google search.
On 10/28/2021 at approximately 12 pm my trucks driver side power sliding rear window shattered after turning on the rear defrost. I live in florida so temperature was not an issue but it was lightly raining. Please help! vehicle was parked in the driveway at the time of the incident.
While driving on the freeway at about 70 mph, the "wrench" symbol popped up on my dash and the truck went into "limp mode" which is where the truck is on but you cannot accelerate. I then had the same thing happen while driving on the street at about 45 mph. Both times, I was able to get off to the side, restart the vehicle and then start driving again. After the car was restarted, there was some harsh shifting between 5th and 6th gear and it seemed a bit sluggish. I contacted the Ford dealership and they told me that they couldn't do anything unless the check engine light or wrench symbol were showing on the dashboard.
The vehicle has been having recurring issues with limp mode roughly 5-10 mins after cold start. Wrench lamp lights and vehicle loses all power and has no throttle response. This is becoming a weekly occurring issue. This is extremely dangerous because it could be while at highway speed, in heavy traffic and put the driver and passengers at risk of accident. If vehicle can be safely limped to the shoulder and turned off, vehicle starts back up with no issues after being shut down for a few minutes. Two different Ford dealers have inspected and no codes or service messages are stored so unsure of the precise issue. One recommended changing the throttle body ($600 repair) while the other checked TSB 17-0026 and was unable to remedy or repair.
The fuse block overheats and melts at fuse #27. This fuse controls the fuel system. My truck shut off in trafffic at rush hour and it would not restart. Ford knows this is an issue and they have not publicly posted the fix for it and they charge for the fix that they know is an issue on their part. Why should I pay for a defect on their side?.
First incident happened yesterday 4/17/21 when driving approximately 25 miles am hour the vehicle would not shift up from first gear, or it into neutral and then back to drive and it worked like normal. Today 4/18/21 I've had two incidents, the first while driving 45 mph the vehicle dropped down to 2nd gear, rapidly slowing. I showed to first gear, put into neutral and back to drive and everything was fine. While driving on the highway at approximately 65-70 mph my truck suddenly downshifted from 6th to 2nd gear, decelerating extremely quickly. I was able to pull over to an exit and put the vehicle into neutral and then back into drive and the transmission resumed like normal. This is extremely concerning that this will happen when driving at highway speeds and the fact this vehicle is my daily driver and I usually have my kids in the vehicle with me. Im very concerned about the safety of driving now especially after learning this exact issue was recalled on the vehicles a year before mine with three same 6 speed transmission, but not on my year.
This is our 2nd time reporting this back 4 years ago our vehicle downshifted suddenly. Causing our vehicle to drop speed tremendously. We called the dealership to let them know what happened and they said they have had several complaints at the time of these trucks doing this. It caused the rear tires to lock and slide. We ended up loosing control and running of the road and wrecking the truck and messing up the front. Ford has still not fixed this vehicle.
Spontaneous shattering of rear windshield. This is the second time in which this has happened where the rear window shattered with no cause under the exact same circumstance. . There is no signs of intentional damage or impact. At the time the vehicle was parked, and running with the remote start function. The rear defrost was activated.
On the day of 02/16/2021 I had the remote start on the truck so it will warm up and I have everything preset already for warm heated air and the back glass heater and mirror heaters turned on. When I get into the truck it was warm and oil was brought up to temp so I was ready to head out. When I noticed out of my rear view mirror that the back glass was shattered driver side it is a 3 piece/1 piece glass so it's separated pieces of glass by a divider but can only be replaced by buying the whole piece and kit. I've noticed there have been several other incidents on this vehicle it is a 2014 F-150 super crew 4x4 I'm super upset seeing as the truck I haven't had long and also the fact that Ford doesn't wanna own up to their flaw in the glass. I also live out in the country so very unlikely someone did this to my truck my drive way is pretty long so it all makes sense this should be a recall if this would have happened while driving I'm sure the loud pop of the glass shattered would have distracted me enough to have an accident and injure myself or others. Considering my first assumption would be a gun going off and someone is firing at me.
While sitting in my truck waiting for the windows to finnish defrosting, I heard a loud bang. I looked behind me and saw that the back window had shattered. I immediately got out to investigate as it sounded like a gun shot! I live on a military base and violence of this kind is very unlikely. I looked around to see that there was no one around that could have hit or thrown something at my truck. I called the insurance agent and had an appt set for window replacement. When the tech arrived I asked him if he had seen anything like this before, a window just breaking on its own. He said that he sees a fair number of 2014 f150s with this problem, and even thought there was a recall for such. He said the heating element in the rear defrost shorts out and breaks the window. When I called Ford they said there was no recall and they have never heard of such a problem. A simple search on the internet shows a plethra of simular complaints not just on 2014 models, but 2015 and 2016 as well. This is dangerous! I could have been driving and had a serious accident as a result of this. Worse even would be if my daughter was sitting back there. I am tired of the money hungry corporations not doing their ethical and moral job of keeping their customers safe, and this will not change unless we hold them accountable. Thank you for the service you provide to americans. I hope to see a recall about this issue.
A coolant leak from the upper hose at the connection the hose is in good cont it appears to be the plastic o ring thats causes it to leak.
When I turned on the rear defrost the back window of the truck shattered. On 11-24-20, I warmed up my 2014 Ford f150 with the remote start feature. When I put the key in, I turned on the rear defroster while the truck was still in park. The back window driver side pane shattered. I have contacted Ford 8 times, but the response is continually the same, "it is the owner's responsibility, not Ford. " Ford has a serious product failure that has been allowed to persist for too long.
The truck gets a yellow wrench and quits accelerating. Then it shake and you need to turn it off and on. It's been at the mechanic shop twice this month and did it again. It did it after turning from a stop sign twice today but it has done it on on a straight part of the highway at highway speeds.
Rear windshield exploded while vehicle in a parked, stationary position. Heard a noise like an acorn hitting the roof and within seconds the rear windshield exploded.
While sitting stationary with the vehicle running and talking on the phone the windows began fogging up and I turned on the front and rear defrosters. I then drove about 5 minutes and then stopped to make a turn and the rear driver side window shattered and glass fell onto the back seat passenger.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started stalling and failed to accelerate as needed. Additionally, the maintenance warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road and restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle operated as needed. The vehicle was diagnosed and the throttle body was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 41,000.
Friday, June 12th, 2020, I was parked and heard a loud bang around 12:10 am, turns out my rear window shattered. It was 79 degrees fahrenheit, high humidity, and rear defroster was powered on at 12:00 am, didn't notice the damage until the morning. No impact marks or direct area that started the shatter, it shattered equally at all spots.
Traveling down the highway and rear window panel on the driver's side shattered. No impact from any foreign object. This was verified by a safelite representative. Rear window defrost was on at the time.
We are the original vehicle owners. The backup camera was replaced at a Ford dealership on 3/26/20 because the screens were showing blank images and sometimes distorted images. At that time the mileage was 82564. Now the backup camera is doing the exact same thing, and the mileage is 144236. This is a safety issue backing up and can cause an accident. There have been recalls on most models but 2014 was not included. Ford has stated that the recalls are tied to the VIN. , thus even though we paid Ford and replaced the camera in 2020, the camera is not covered although it is the same parts of model year vins that were recalled. The 2014 should have been included in the recalls, as well as specific part recalls.
While traveling northbound on hwy 90 by chimneyrock exit my truck suddenly and abruptly downshifted to 1st, 2nd, 1st and 3rd. Had to oull over and started going again. Now it gets stuck in third and is making one of the cylinders misfire.
When I turn the cabin fan up there is a humming noise where the higher the fan is turned, the more the dash starts to vibrate. I can be parked or moving.
Door lock on both rear doors get stuck in the lock position. I physically have to take pliers to pry up on the knob to unlock the back doors.
Remotely started the truck in 35 degree weather on 22 January 2020 in my driveway. I unlocked my truck and got in to move it and noticed the rear driver's side glass was shattered. I did not notice any visible cause of the damage so surmised it must have been a defect.
