The steering wheel clock spring has failed, which prevents the use of steering wheel controls to cycle through and monitor critical vehicle information. This creates a safety risk because the driver cannot access important vehicle data while driving. I contacted Ford motor company to request assistance, as the repair was quoted at $700. Ford acknowledged my request but refused to provide assistance, stating the vehicle is outside of warranty. However, the clock spring is a safety-critical component that should not fail under normal use. Ford has issued recalls for clock spring failures on other vehicles, which indicates this can be a systemic safety issue. This is the 2nd time this has happened in 2 years. I have my truck turned off completely and locked and go to get back in it a few hours later and I open my door and the gas from the airbag has completely filled up the cab of my 2015 f150. I turn the truck on and it’s like it’s been in a wreck, all the lights on the dash are on, and it’s saying my airbags are deployed which the gas that fills the airbag did deploy, and it keeps telling me to contact 911. How does this keep happening without Ford making a recall or not taking responsibility. It could seriously hurt or I hurt me or my family.
For the past 3 days, I have had intermittent loss of steering from a power steering failure while driving on interstates/highways. Almost completely unable to steer it to safety on the side of the road. Ford has a recall(15s18), but I was told its VIN-specific. My truck's VIN does not fall under the recall, yet im having the same problems as the recall claims. Reaching out to see if this can be resolved and have a recall initiated. Thank you.
Put truck in reverse and backed up. Then put gear shift into drive and the gear got stuck in neutral and won't budge. A Ford recall for 2014 was issued the same day but I believe based on this same issue, 2015 models need to be included in the 6/25/2024 recall also.
As I was driving my 2015 Ford f150 ( 53453 miles)today the electronic power steering quit working and locked the steering wheel as I was rounding a long left turn. As I was coming out of the corner the steering wheel locked and continued to turn left causing me to cross the center line and enter into oncoming traffic. Luckily for me and everyone else the driver of the oncoming car saw me coming over and responded accordingly. I had to force the steering wheel to the right to get the vehicle to respond. Once I had the truck back in my lane the steering started binding and three different faults appeared on the dash. 1. Electronic power assist 2. Advance trac 3. Hill start assist. The locking (binding) steering wheel continued for the next 8 miles until I was able to get it safely off the highway. After shutting the vehicle off and restarting it the faults were no longer showing and the steering started working properly. After researching this online it appears to be a very very serious issue with these trucks. I also see that this issue has been reported to the nhtsb by other people with the same vehicle. If not for the alert driver in the oncoming lane there would have been a serious head on collision with sever injuries. I have no choice but to drive this vehicle not knowing if or when this will occur again. This is an issue that more than likely will result in fatalities. I am hoping this will be investigated with top priority.
The airbag cover on the steering wheel is separating/cracking along the mould lines and near the emblem.
Vehicle was traveling down the roadway, attempted to make a right turn when vehicle lost steering control and vehicle drive straight into the curb and over the sidewalk. After which the truck threw a code for "power steering assist fault" this feature should not be disable while in motion. It caused an accident.
I let my 83 year old mother use my truck due to expected extreme weather in houston. While making a right hand turn the steering seized and she had to brake hard to avoid hitting a mailbox. Neither the tow truck drivers nor I could budge the wheel, even to allow it to be put on a flatbed or towed backwards without being sideways. Several error codes paged through the dash upon failure but the only other symptoms was that she said it felt like the steering wheel wanted to fight her right before it happened. Diagnosis - failed epas electric power assisted steering rack. I take issue with a steering assist system being allowed to catastrophically fail with no warning or ability to manually maneuver safely to the side of the road. My mother could have been killed!.

My steering rack went out. This caused the truck to sway all over the road and was impossible to correct its path.
While driving down the road, only 48 mph, my back rear wheel studs busted my my lug nuts came off. I have researched many forums and other F-150s have had this same problem, with the same tire. The safety of myself and my family was put into danger, with this being an unforeseen issue. There were no warning lights or check engine lights on at the time of the accident.

When driving my truck on the freeway the steering became hard to turn and to control the truck. Steering wheel would turn and click but hard to keep straight on road. Was able to drive slowly to a auto repair shop, almost nearly crashed into railing on freeway. Took 190 days for Ford to deliver the part. (sounds like this happened before to other vehicles). The issue was the steering gear stoped working.
The steering assist (I. E. Power steering) on this vehicle had a "sudden" and "complete" failure as I was making a 90 degree right hand turn. There was no prior warning. The failure caused me to almost drive into the ditch on the side of the road. Fortunately, I was driving slow on a rural road with no other traffic at the time. Had this happened on a heavy traffic road, this failure could have caused a bad accident. This failure is available for inspection. However, I plan to take this vehicle in to an independent service center on moday, August 15, 2022 for repair. Currently, the steering wheel is "extremely" hard to turn. I now get the following warning messages when I start the vehicle, which started only after the failure occurred - "steering assist fault service required. ".
I have 2015 f150 and when I tow my camper on the highway at 60mph the front steering starts to pull from left to right and is very unsafe to drive.
When driving on the highway an alert popped up on the dash stating hill descent control fault which was followed quickly by service advancetrac and a yellow wrench and see manual. These warning continued to cycle and the truck seemed to lose ability to maintain speed as is slowed down and the steering became difficult. I was able to get it off the highway without incident as there were not many vehicles on the road, but if it would have been busy, I would have been in trouble. Once on the shoulder I placed it in park and the truck began to shudder and run rough. I turned the truck off and let it sit for a few minutes and then restarted it. Upon restart everything appeared normal and there were no warnings, I was able to continue to my destination. I called the dealership and they sounded like they had heard this story before and told me I could bring it in within a weeks time. I was also told that it would not cause any damage to continue to drive it. While waiting for the repair I did have to continue to drive it and this same thing would happen randomly just going down the road and all of the sudden you get a warning lose the ability to maintain speed and steering becomes difficult. Being on the highway in this situation is dangerous since you never know when it might occur. After going to the dealership they listed the repairs on my form installed bl3z9e926 b throttle body and motor asy installed bl3z 12029 c coil asy - ignition installed bl3z 12a402 a boot - ignition wire prot (5 items) installed cyfs 12 yt4 spark plug (6 items) the parts and labor of this repair came to $972. 56. I have read forums online that that state others have had this repair done as well and some people say their steering rack was replaced as well. This repair was just done yesterday (6-26-21) and I am hopeful that it will fix the problem. I feel that based on the reading I have done this has happened to lots of people and is dangerous, so I wanted to report my incident.
Driving on highway lost power steering on vehicle, steering assist fault-advancetrac warning and hill start assist not available warnings came on on dashboard. There were no prior warning lights leading up to the incident. Car was very difficult to handle and was not easy to get off the road - luckily it was 5 am and no other cars were on the road. Car was taken to dealership where the said new steering gear rack and pinion is needed the car has only 52,000 miles on it.

The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 20v332000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.
The vehicle feels extremely dangerous when driving. Steering drifts, wanders or feels "light" at speeds approximately 25-55 mph, when changing lanes or turning thru curve in road. The issue occurs every single time I drive the vehicle. It seems to be an issue related to electric power steering (epas), steering angle sensor, and/or software related. It does not feel like a mechanical issue . . . While driving down the road approx 50mph power steering was lost. Errors displayed on dash for electronic power assist fault, advancetrac fault, hill start assist fault. Also no cruise control. After parking overnight, problem was not present on restart; after 5min of driving, all faults reappeared and have persisted continually without going away.
As I turn my truck to the left the steering gets stuck a bit and requires force to get the steering wheel back from that position. Something appears to be getting hung up.

Truck hit a utility pole in the median while traveling west on barbara jordan blvd at lancaster dr. It spun around, and landed on the east bound side of barbara jordan blvd at lancaster dr. The airbags never deployed.
With no notice or warning while driving on freeway pulling horse trailer at 65 mph engine shut down and would not restart. Hill assist light came on along with skid anti-sway motion and a wrench appeared in the indicator light. Steering wheel became hard to move. Had to cross three lanes of traffic to get to side of road in a construction zone while going uphill towing a horse trailer eventually restarted.

Truck constantly wanders when driving when you turn left then back to center it wanders back left when you turn right back to center it wanders back right at slow speeds or highway speed took to dealer griffeth Ford was told after they test drove it's fine it's how these new Fords handle our whole family has Ford vehicles 2014 through 2017 not one handles this way something is not right just getting blown off by Ford.
While turning my steering wheel along a curve on a state highway going approximately 40 to 55 mph, the wheel has to be reset to the center. On youtube a video by chris peterson, called "steering issue in 2016 f150 pulling to left" is identical to my problem. Below under document I downloaded the hyperlink from youtube. This problem continues to happen, I first noticed it this past spring.

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the bolt was loose and deteriorated at the steering shaft. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The contact stated that the failure was similar to NHTSA campaign number: 15v279000 (steering). The failure mileage was 49,000.
I was asked to sign a waiver to drive my vehicle off the lot if I didn't have it repaired their on site so naturally I told them to go ahead & fix it after I told him it sounded like I really had no other choice. & that I couldn't afford to pay for a rent car so he got me a loaner provided by the dealership they had my vehicle for 10 days repairing it . I took my vehicle in because the cruise control & the blue tooth weren't working properly & to get the oil changed. I had to continually press both buttons on the cruise control to get it to work & the blue tooth would not hang up. The service manager told me that if I was to have a head on collision the airbag wouldn't work & he asked if I'd sign a waiver if I drove the truck off of the property.
