36 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2018

My Ford f150 sometimes pulls to the left without turning the steering wheel and could possibly cause an accident if you are not aware of the certain pulling to the left. One must pay attention when driving between 30-55 miles per hour. I know it pulls when the road is dry and possibly when it is wet without noticing it. It does it sometimes when turning the vehicle as well.

44 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2017

My electronic steering is overly sensitive at highway speeds and make controlling a trailer under tow very difficult. I am also having issues after turning with the steering not wanting to go straight after the turn. I have to fight the wheel to keep the truck going straight. The wheel requires a counter steer, but there is a large amount of resistance to that counter steer. Once steering figures out I want to go straight the wheel ends up canted slightly to the left or right. I was able to demonstrate this while at the Ford dealership using a 2017 test truck as well. So it appears to be an issue that can effect any truck with epas steering. This youtube video is not my truck but it shows exactly what I experienced in my truck and the test truck. . Read more...

47 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2017

VIN: 1ftfw1ef8ffc15482 make: Ford f150 2015 on the morning of June 20th 2017, I was sitting in the passenger seat journaling and listing to music. The vehicle was parked and running because I was listening to the radio and enjoying the air conditioner. My husband had driven the vehicle and parked it. He had exited the vehicle and went up to his appointment and I was in the vehicle, in the passenger seat, journaling for at least ten minutes or more. I needed to use the restroom so I put my stuff in the bag at my feet, on the floor board on the passenger side. I reached over, gripped the key, turned it to the off position, removed the key from the ignition, the truck was fully off. I began opening the passenger door to exit the vehicle and realized the vehicle was rolling backwards. I slammed my door, tried to use the shifter but it did not move. I was steering the vehicle to the right knowing there were vehicles parked behind me. I threw the key in put it in drive and hit the brake, but it was to late and I had hit another vehicle. I was lucky nobody was in the other vehicle or behind my vehicle. Somebody could have been hurt or killed. I pulled the truck forwards, I parked and handled what had just occurred. I don't know what to do. We no longer feel our vehicle is safe when in park. I know the 2017 models are having this same problem, if Ford still cant fix this problem two years later, why would I feel our vehicle is safe or trust that it does not have a defect that needs fixing?????? please help! thank you for your time. We just want to ensure our safety and the safety of others.

48 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2017

2015 Ford f150, 12500 miles. Truck steering wheel hangs randomly in a left hand curve. Have to force it back to center. This happens at speeds of 20 to 35 mph. Has also kept assisting left in a left turn when I stopped turning left. It is a dangerous issue that needs serious attention. I have taken truck 2 times to my local Ford dealer, bert wolfe Ford. The first time they reprogrammed the steering. The 2nd time I left the truck from Monday morning go Friday afternoon. They test drove the vehicle and claim they can find no faults. I pick the truck up from the dealer, and the same issue haplens three times on the way home. They refuse to fix anything without the computer throwing a code.

49 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2017

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. When a pay load of cement was placed onto the vehicle and driving various speeds, the vehicle veered from side to side uncontrollably. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that the vehicle was operating as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,000. The VIN was unavailable.

50 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2017

I was in the left lane of a two lane left turn intersection. When the light turned green I stepped on the gas and turned the steering wheel for a normal left hand turn; however the truck continued to move in straight line and did not turn with the steering wheel. I then turned the steering wheel for a hard left and the truck still continued straight, then after a delay I felt the vehicle wheels turn left; luckily within enough time to prevent the truck from striking the car that was in the right, left turn lane who was making the turn as well. This is the second time this situation has occurred where the steering wheel and the vehicle wheels were not in sync and had endangered the safety of the passengers.

51 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2016

While driving - complete shut down of vehicle - loss of steering and acceleration. System warning says advance trac warning and shows a picture of a wrench. Stopped the vehicle - restarted and continued to happen. Very dangerous as it happened while driving - had to coast to the side of the road.

52 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2016

Within the first year of use an intermittent (few days a week) vibration + humming / grinding type noise was present when turning (left and right) at low speeds (<25mph). The vibration sometimes cyclic, felt in steering wheel, and is audible from passenger seat. The vibration is distracting and often occurs when slowing down at stoplights or stop signs. The noise & vibration, however, remain when the brakes are not engaged. The noise & vibration exist while in 4x4 as well as 4x2 and 4a. The issue has been verified multiple times by service staff at 2 different dealerships. Vehicle has been in for service multiple times (3 prior) and parts have been replaced to attempt to address the issue (front iwe assemblies which were found to have partial leak, front left hub assembly found to have resistance / grinding was replaced). Sound / vibration remained after service. Vehicle currently in for service 4th time at dealership to address issue again (33 days+ and counting). No resolution yet.

55 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2015

As soon as I took delivery of my new 2015 Ford F-150, I noticed the steering wanted to pull to the left. This occurred in all driving conditions and required keeping some "right" pressure on the steering wheel to make the truck go straight. Road conditions, weather conditions and vehicle speeds are not a factor. I have taken the truck back to the dealer's service department on three occasions over the past year for this and a couple of other issues. On only one occasion did the service department actually write up the steering issue on the work order because they talked me into purchasing some sort of "kit" that would fix the problem. I brought up the idea that if a "kit" was required to fix the problem, why would it not be covered under the warranty, but they dismissed that idea and I went ahead a paid for the "kit" ($300) and a realignment of the front end ($80). I figured if this would solve the steering issue, which I felt was a safety problem, I would go ahead and pay the money and have done with it. End result: the truck now still pulls to the left about 40% of the time, pulls to the right about 10% of the time and actually goes fairly straight the rest of the time. It seems as though turning corners or even changing lanes can cause the steering to change from pulling to the left to pulling to the right or maybe even going straight. I want to add that the "pulling" is not severe (more like drifting), but it is bothersome and causes me to have a good deal of concern. I have owned many vehicles over the years, but never had one with this sort of a steering issue.

56 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2015

My truck has been in the shop 4 times before of drifting to the right. I purchased last month Dec 2015 the first time the realigned it, the second cross rotated and realigned, third they said the put it in a learning mode and the fourth they changed out the steering mechanism. I still have the problem having to maintain pressure to the left and when I let go it goes to the right.

57 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2015

Steering is very sensitive to the road and constantly drifts to the right. I've checked it on city roads back roads and interstate driving. According to the dealership everything is in working order.

58 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2015

Purchased this vehicle on Nov 12 2015. There was a safety recall issued for this vehicle in may 2015 concerning upper intermediate steering shaft rivets not staked properly. The dealer was given notice by Ford in may 2015 that the vehicle was under recall and the vehicle was on their lot until Nov 12 2015. The dealer did not inspect or repair the problem before selling the vehicle to me, never mentioned a recall. I did not receive the initial recall notice sent in may of 2015 because I did not own the vehicle at the time. I received a reminder notice from Ford motor company sept 2016 that the vehicle had not been repaired. Is it not a federal violation to sell a vehicle that is under a safety recall and not repaired? I have been driving this vehicle for 11 months. I have an appointment oct 11 2016 for repairs at a different dealer.

59 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2015

I am the original owner and from the start of ownership in 2015 I noticed after 30 plus minutes of driving when making a sweeping left turn, like around an s turn in a road, the steering wheel would have resistance. At the point of resistance if I go back to the right it is smooth. Try to turn left and again it near hangs up. Just a notable amount of resistance. I had the extended warranty and have my truck regularly serviced by the local Ford shop. They could never duplicate my concerns over the years. I suspect they are not driving it long enough and/or not making a seeping turn. I do have concerns that the steering box will lock up and thus result in a serious accident. I had the intermediate shaft replaced, no difference. Ball joints inspected, all good. I always have fresh tires on and the brakes are in top condition with new rotors. Still hangs up. My research points to the gear box which is a very costly repair. My vehicle is now out of warranty. I have never taken my vehicle off road. There are enough online reviews regarding this issue that I believe Ford should recall and put new steering boxes in at no cost to the owner.

60 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2015

My 2015 Ford f150 platinum has a problem that it keeps telling the driver to put their hands on the steering wheel. It does not matter where on the steering wheel the driver puts their hands, if it is one hand or both hands, the errors keep popping up on the screen and causing a alarm bell to sound. To make the alarm go off, you must either 1) take a hand off the steering wheel to hit an "ok" button or 2) shake the steering wheel left/right (quick swerve). The problem happens at all speeds, in city, country, and interstate driving. It can sometimes immediately re-trigger (within milliseconds) of hitting the "ok" button. No amount of pressure holding the steering wheel makes any difference, and it does not matter where on the steering wheel you hold it, it will still trigger. It triggers at any time of the day, sunny, cloudy, or dark. I view this as a safety issue for two reasons: 1) the error eronously triggers a lot while driving and 2) you must ironically do the opposite of the warning to make the warning go away, take your hand off the steering wheel to hit an "ok" button. This problem has been happening on my 2015 Ford f150 platinum since I purchased it. My first documented complaint to the dealer was the 12th day of ownership at 493 miles. I have purchased a car dvr to record the truck's behavior for this (and another) safety problem. I have many recordings of this issue. I have had it in the dealer shop many times, yet they have either said it is working as designed, or that there is no way to fix it.

61 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2015

Since initial test drive, steering has been drifting and pulling. Been to service 3 times and dealership says normal with electrical steering. Unsafe as vehicle is constantly drifting off track and requires resistance on steering wheel to keep straight.

62 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2002

The 2015 f150 shifted itself from drive at 60mph to 1st gear. I as leading traffic when this occurred. The rest of traffic went around me as, I went to shoulder of rd. The f150 shuttered and was unable to be steered safely off the road. Warning lights flashed but as a driver I was unable to watch as traffic behind me was more important then watching f150. As a simi was also close to me. This was a very scary event! as my husband was with me and is [xxx] he doesn't drive. Smoke came from under the vehicle. I see this is a common accurate with the f series of 2014. I would suggest checking the 2015. We have since had it fixed and it now drives better. I noticed a marked difference, from when I purchased it a few mos. Earlier. Seriously it could have been a wreck. Strong driving instinct is what saved us this time.
