Started driving, about 2 minutes in, I noticed an electrical burn smell, and turned to look in the backseat, and it was filling with smoke, and my two young kids started coughing. I rolled all windows down and pulled over as quick as possible, unloaded both kids from rear driver side door. Saw smoke billowing out from behind the car seat on the passenger rear side, so I circled around to that door and went to inspect, right before removing the car seat I heard a loud pop and took off running just to be safe. After about 5 minutes I returned to the truck to notice the entire back windshield was shattered, chunks of glass inside and outside of the truck.
I turned on the rear defroster to my truck. It was by mistake as I ment to push the max ac button. I didn't immediately turn it off. Instantly after turning it on I smelt a strong electrical/burnt small. About 30 seconds later we heard a loud pop. When I looked in the rear view mirror, I saw the back window had shattered. It was very hot to the touch.
I have a 2015 Ford f150. It is equipped like many others with a power sliding rear glass. The issue is the upper track for the sliding portion becomes unattached from the rear glass and falls forward. I've had this happen 2 times in the last 2 years. Specifically in the summer. The track is originally installed cheaply with 2 sided tape and a little adhesive. The local glass shop wants 85 dollars just to glue it back. I have seen multiple trucks with the same issue with the window taped up or just covered with cardboard. My concern, is if someone has an infant in the center of the rear seat with a rear facing car seat, the slide portion of the glass could come out and fall on the baby. Not to mention, it gets a little pricey to repair it every few years. The only solution from Ford was to replace the back glass at my expense, which was around $1200 dollars the last time I looked into it. I believe this is a manufacturer design flaw that Ford should have to resolve and replace. I've seen way to many of these trucks with this issue for it to not be a manufacturer problem. Thank you.
The sliding rear window assembly which is attached with 4 adhesive tape strips have come loose. The sliding window comes out of the frame and could become airborne if hit from the rear or in a front end collision. It is a very poor way to attach a sliding rear window and the failure rate is high. The bad part of this is most people are probably not aware of the problem other than the window frame will rattle sometimes when your on a bumpy road. It is a poor design and could be dangerous in any collision. The body and glass repair shops are aware of the problem on the rear windows of Ford pickups. This should be fixed with a recall before someone dies from the window becoming airborne in a crash.
While I'm driving the windshield wipers comes on by itself at times when it is turned off.
Without any warning signals or indications the fan blower has stopped working. It became a real safety hazard when I needed to defog my windshield and there was no air flow coming out of my vents. No warning, no signal. My windshield had fogged over and I had zero ability to defog due to not having any available airflow. Major safety issue!!.
Shortly after turning on the rear window defroster the vehicle interior began to fill with a strong electrical burning odor and then within about 30 seconds the back glass shattered with a loud pop that was very startling and distracting. I took photos but plan to have the window replaced as soon as possible since I need it to get to work. This happened while driving at a slow speed but if it had happened at high speed then it could have caused me to swerve and lead to an accident. I called the Ford dealer and they were not aware of this being a problem. However, the retail glass repair shop said that they frequently see this issue with F-150s. The vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. Aside from the electrical burning smell there were no indications the impending glass shattering. I did some internet searching and found that many ofther f150 owners have had the exact same issue and all report that it occurred when the rear window defroster was activated.
Due to an occurrence of other vehicles back windows blowing out dealer unplugged part of rear window defroster. Now several years later the defroster across entire back window does not work. Since I am now out of waranty and extended waranty this repair would come out of my pocket. Dealer should have replaced faulty electronics in rear defroster/window at some point, not just unplugged it.
Rear window defroster was emitting a burning smell (although it was not turned on) and overheated the rear glass causing it to bulge and shatter!.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on several occasions, the gear shifter was placed in reverse however, the backup camera failed to operate. The contact stated that the backup camera displayed while in drive. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
The windshield spraying system freezes when temperatures drop below freezing. This is an extremely dangerous and hazardous situation. Even when using -35 degree windshield washer fluid (well below recommendation) my windshield has been frozen over and covered in grime. The frozen system does not allow for the windshield to be sprayed and cleared. The vehicle is undriveable in this condition. This is a known problem with a technical bulletin issued. Ford’s resolution is that the customer pays for this remediation. This is unsatisfactory as it is a clear design and safety flaw.
Driving down the street, without the rear defrost on, and heard a large boom, which I discovered the next morning was the rear window blowing out on my truck. Looks like this is a common situation with these types of vehicles and Ford is not taking responsibility for the problem. There is a massive blog, with dozens of accounts of similar experiences. Vehicle was going abprox 5 mph as I was just leaving from a stop light. I was on a city street in reno, nv. This happened on 1/27/21 about 5:30pm. I contact nv energy to see if a transformer had blown, checked vehicle for impact form an object, and no evidence of either. Glass now in the vehicle and continues to fall apart. Just lucky I didn't have passengers in the back seat!!.
Tl-the contact owns 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while using the remote start he detected smoke emerging from the rear window. The window exploded. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact sent a chat to the manufacturer but received no response. The failure mileage was 105,000. Ap.
I woke up and remote started my truck before leaving for work on a 40 degree fahrenheit day. I was 2 minutes into my drive and then all I heard was a huge bang, I seriously thought someone had just shot a gun. I looked back and my rear window was just completely shattered for no reason. This makes me very upset because I had just gotten the truck back from getting a new windshield that cracked for no reason 2 days ago, thanks.
Truck was warming up and something smelled like an electrical fire and suddenly the rear window shattered. Contacts for the rear defroster pulled from window causing electrical arcing that started melting a piece of plastic causing a hot spot on the window that led to it shattering. Vehicle was stationary while this happened.
Rear glass shattered while truck sat idle warming up. Burning electrical smell and smoke prior to glass shattering. Glass defroster was on at the time, smoke dissipated after defroster was turned off.
After turning off the wipers, they continue to run intermittently. This has been happening for some time.
Left for work, 44 degrees. Turned rear defroster on, four miles down road heard a loud bang or pop sound. Back windshield had basically exploded. Driving 50mph. Has a sliding glass was not broken, but entire back window burst.
I was driving to work after dropping my daughter off and out of nowhere I heard a very loud pop sound. I looked in my rear view mirror and the entire back window was shattered. I was on a main road. Smooth. Going approx 40-50mph. No cars were behind me. I pulled over to see if it was struck by a rock or falling object. . . No clear impact. It was evenly shattered across the entire window. It was about 65 degrees f. Defrost was not on at the time. Smelled similar to that burning smell after an airbag deploys. I drove straight to a dealership and they said they never heard of that happening before "woltz & wind Ford, inc" in pittsburgh. Thank god this didn't happen with my newborn and 2 year old in the back. I was shocked to find the number for similar stories online. Ford should address this. Imagine if I were driving with my kids in the winter across the state and this happened. We typically drive through the night. It's not safe and should be addressed. I want Ford to cover the expense to replace.
Every time I use my windshield wipers they want turn off even when they are off. They keep going even after you turn the wipers switch to 0 (off) its does this when the vehicle moving or stationary. .
The wiper stop working in the middle of windshield while it was raining. I was driving in city.
Driving on the highway, wipers would not change speed from slowest to anything else. Have also had issues with wipers turning themselves on and staying on even when in the off position.
Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the top rail on his rear sliding glass would rattle and shakes uncontrollably while traveling at various speeds. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the top rail of the vehicle was being held together by double sided tape. The contact spoke to two rivers Ford inc 76 belinda pkwy, mt. Juliet, TN 37122 and was informed that they were unaware of the defect. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000. Jo.
Windshield wiper continue to operate in low intermittent when the switch is in the off position - the driver cannot turn off the wipers. Any time the truck's engine is on, the wipers run. Ford motor company published online TSB 15-0061 on April 27, 2015, which addressed the problem for model years 2011-2014 for explorers, f150's, edges, mkx's and f-super duty vehicles. The bulletin call for the installation of a "new wiper/malfunction switch, which at my dealer costs $900. Obviously, a vehicle cannot be safely operated with the wiper running in dry weather. Eventually, the wiper blades would melt and streak the windshield, thus blurring the driver's vision. Repairing the problem is not is not optional, it mus be done. Ford knew it had problems with the equipment in model years 2011-2014. I have a 2015 and the problem still exists. Not only have they not solved the problem inn newer models, they failed to re-engineer the wiper system to make the repair less costly. Replacing the switch requires disassembling and reassembling the steering column, which is labor intensive and thus expensive. Ford has managed to limit its exposure by calling the problem a warranty issue. I commute 80 miles a day in metro atlanta. The weather has been relatively dry in recent years, so I blew through the mileage limits on the warranty with little need to use my wipers. Working wipers are necessary safety equipment. Ford knew they had a problem for several years, but did not solve the issue. The cost is not affordable for many americans. Ford should bare the burden of repairing equipment that they knew was faulty, but continued to install in new vehicles.
The wipers quit working when the right blinker is on. When the right blinker is on to signal a turn, the wipers quit working completely. It does not matter what mode the blinkers are in (fast, slow, intermittent) once the right blinker is off, the wipers will begin to work again. Vehicle can be stationary or in motion. I believe the multi-function device is defective.
Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while exitting the vehicle he noticed the rear sliding window glass was loose and off track. The conact took the vehicle to the dealer for diagnosis (murray Ford kingsland 2030 GA-40, kingsland, GA 31548) the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. Their were no warning lights illuminated on the vehicle. The approximate mileage on the vehicle was 52,000. Tp.
Wiper fluid tubing constricted in cold weather, no fluid comes out. Using -20f wiper fluid, no problems in other vehicles, in f150 nothing comes out below 15f. Once above 25f, works fine. Did get replacement tubing from delaer, same problem.
My f150 was started and the max defrost was on. While standing next to the vehicle, the rear glass window shattered without cause. A burning smell was noticed, but I assumed it was coming from somewhere other than my truck. The vehicle was parked and I was standing near the vehicle. It is not a possibility that something struck the rear glass, it is an apparent malfunction or defect. I contacted for customer relations and was completely disappointed with the service.
The remote start was on for 5 minutes, we got in the car and the entire back windshield was shatterring. There was no prior damage to the back windshield, no issues ever. We looked on the outside and it was shattering from the edges and slowly started cracking to pieces before our eyes. If we would have been driving this would have been a huge safety concern especially with children in the back seat.
On 10/18/19 at 7:20 am I started my 2015 f150 with 27k miles via the autostart system as the outside temperature was around 35f and there was front on the glass. My truck was in my driveway, facing north towards the street. When I approached my truck after in n for under 5 minutes I could smell a burning odor. I opened the truck and the smell was stronger. When I look around I saw that the rear window was completely shattered with a hole where a section fell into the bed. I contacted my Ford dealer and the service tech stated he never heard of this and they could replace it for approx. $1400. 00.
Tl-the contact owns a 2015ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, on the freeway the driver right rear window shattered without warning. The contact managed to drive the vehicle home no injuries. The dealer bluebonnet Ford Lincoln 351 I-35bl, new braunfels, TX 78130 (888) 890-1586 was contacted about the failure and was informed no recall was under the VIN. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated tha the vehicle was not under warranties. The failure mileage was approximate 105,534. Ck.
The rear sliding window bond has lost its adhesive. While driving the window started to blow in causing the debris to blow into my cab. Ford has not done anything to remedy my complaint.
Windshield wipers turn on randomly and intermittently whenever the truck is on even though the wiper switch is in the off position. Exact cause of malfunction unknown. This issue was subject to a recall for earlier model years, however not for 2015 model year. Issue causes startle or driver and loss of clear vision.
Started my truck using remote start. Roughly 45-55 secs later, I get in my truck and the rear passenger area is filled with smoke. I shut off vehicle. I smelled burned electrical wires. I wasn't able to detect anything out of the norm. Roughly 5-7 mins later, my back glass shattered. Truck was stationary.
Turned defrost on and in 2 to 3 minutes heard a loud pop and looked back and the rear windowpane had completely shattered. The break happened in motion on a city street. The defrost malfunctioned and overheated the window causing it to shatter.
