I recently discovered a recall notification in my app regarding wiper corrosion, which has resulted in my wipers functioning very slowly regardless of the speed setting. This poses a significant safety concern, especially during rainy or snowy conditions in michigan, as it substantially impairs visibility. After contacting Ford motor company and spending three hours on the phone, I was informed that this recall is applicable only in canada. However, I am currently residing in the u. S. And experiencing related issues. Given the serious nature of this safety matter, I felt it necessary to bring this to your attention. Thank you for your consideration.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 70-75 mph, the windshield wipers started moving extremely slow until ceasing to operate. The contact stated that the windshield wipers then regained functionality but operated at a slower speed. The contact stated that the failure progressed over time and the windshield wipers became inoperable. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed there was no recall on the VIN related to the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 166,000.
When I turn my windshield wipers on during rain, I can't turn them back off. They will not turn back off. I have to pull off the road and turn the truck off and then restart the truck. . Sometimes this works and sometimes this doesn't work either. This is a very annoying problem. This can be a safety issue if I am trying to deal with this and get off the road to turn the truck off. I also own a 2019 f150 and now it has started doing the exact same issue. I don't feel this is a problem for the owner. I feel there is a defect in these two trucks. I feel there should be a recall on this issue. I have talked to the Ford dealership about this issue. There are no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The date this first started is around April 2025 but I don't know the exact date. Thank you very much:.
Was driving down the highway and there was a strong smell like something electrical was burning. I thought it was someone's brakes or clutch burning. About 3 minutes later I stopped and went into a store and when I came out my whole back window was shattered. In doing research online, I see this appears to have been a common problem with Ford f150's since 2010.
The windshield was not sealed properly. The primer and glue were applied incorrectly and now has disintegrated over time causing a leak in the area where the pin holds the windshield at the drivers side of the vehicle. From what I understand this could cause the windshield to dislodge in an accident.
The air conditioner/heater has intermittently. Sometimes that air will blow cold but then becomes warm and sometimes the defroster takes more time than usual to warm up. The ac fans will come on high and continuously run if the ac is on. This hasn't worked properly since I purchased this used truck with a warranty from a Ford dealership. I have had it to the dealership on 2 occasions and no codes existed and they could not replicate the issue. This issue affects the ability to defrost and/or defog the windshield. During driving when the windshield gets clogged up because of the weather conditions it becomes hazardous to my passengers and myself. Ford because there were no errors codes or lights and they could not reproduce the issue returned the vehicle unfixed. I have had the vehicle to 2 repair shops and both indicated this is a known issue by Ford and they have issued a technical service bulletin #22-2089 on 9 March 2022 acknowledging this issue but has failed to correct this issue.
Rear window shattered this morning during start up. I auto started the vehicle this morning at approximately 3:35. When I went out to get on about 7 minutes later, smoke bellowed out the door. I quickly shut off the vehicle and opened the hood, nothing indicated an issue. M but when I walked around the vehicle I noticed the rear window buldging out and shattered, the window was hot to the touch.
Hello I am a mechanic and have noticed on many of the f150s wiper transmission failure on the passenger side the due to water build up on the cowl the drivers side where the cowl meets the arm has two lower drain holes and 6 drain holes on the right side and a rubber seal around the wiper arm the passenger side only has two drain holes leading to water sitting and rotting the rubber seal allowing water to corrode the wiper pivot point causing total failure.
Rear back sliding windows falls out of track and window falls out.
It is a known defect in the 2. 7 ecoboost engine that the driver side turbo oil supply line fails, causing engine oil to pool during a start up after a cold soak. The smoke produced causes several safety risks. 1. The smoke obstructs the rear camera. 2. The carcinogenic smoke causes a health and environmental hazard 3. The burning of oil can also lead to excessive parts wear and possible engine failure, which, given at the right time, could lead to injury. There are countless cases all over. When I notified the dealership they informed me it is a repair left at the responsibility of the consumer.
Entire rear window appears to have bulged outward and shattered. . . . Outside temperature in 90s (not unusual for this time of year) . . . Parked in driveway. . . No contact with anything else. . . No one in vehicle.
I started my truck with "remote start" to warm up it up just a little before I got inside. (truck was in the garage. ) after I got my shoes on I got in the car after about 4-5 minutes. Hit the start button and started to pull out and the entire back window exploded. (I thought someone was shooting at me. ) I could not figure out what happened but truck is clearly un-drivable now. Glad it happened while I wasn't on the road. This could have easily caused a wreck if I was in traffic. I googled the situation and noticed that there are a lot of complaints of this exact issue. . I started my truck at 7:45 am; temperature was 25 degrees and the windows were covered in frost. I turned the heater on, got out to load my truck; as I opened the door I heard a loud pop and a slight electrical odor. On examining the cause, I realized that the rear cab window had shattered with no provocation. Glass shards everywhere in the cab and in the truck bed. My dogs in the backseat, or I in the front could have been impaled with any one of these shards.
Unknown start date. Rear sliding window top rail easily pops off rear window. Symptoms could be clattering behind the rear seats, or water leaking into rear window. Other symptoms are loud road noise from the back seat. Rear window can be unseated from the bottom rail and can be dangerous if this happens while passengers are in the back seat or while driving. My passengers were at danger due to the rear window bouncing. Issue is available for inspection. Dealer has not confirmed reproduction of issue. There were no warnings, suddenly I heard loud road noise and clattering when I hit bumps. Ford will not fix this without replacing entire real sliding window.
Rear windshield is leaking water into cab when it rains outside. The rear window is a power opening sliding window. Appears that windowstripping is not keeping water out around the sliding window.
Second time this has happened to my truck. First time was in 2020, now it just happened again in may 2022. Rear window in Ford f150 suddenly popped and shattered for no reason because the defrost mechanism malfunctioned and over heated causing the rear window to expand and shatter. The shattered window was hot to the touch after shattering and there was an electrical fire smell in the cab of the truck. The first time Ford gave me a case number but blew me off and I had to pay out of pocket. This time I have a case number but it is still a hastle and I am getting the run around and am hoping Ford pays for the window in full this time as they did not follow up or give me a reimbursment last time this happened. Ford has a big problem on their hands and needs to remedy this before someone gets glass in their eyes driving down the freeway after the window pops and someone gets killed in an accident.
On 4/1/22 while driving the rear glass exploded. There are many reports of this issue online. The vehicle was in a perfectly flat road with no holes and for no apparent reason it just exploded with a very loud bang. Thankfully this happened in a 40-mph zone, I can only imagine what would happen if this occurred at a high rate of speed. This vehicle is not used as a commercial vehicle, and we don't off road. . .
Rear defroster started smoking during morning warm up using remote start. Rear windshield was shattered violently. Very dangerous situation to be in. The shattering happened during a drive.
While driving my vehicle the rear driver's side window completely shattered for no apparent reason. Weather conditions were clear and temperatures were mild (80 degrees). If a passenger would have been in the back seat at that time there could have been serious cuts from glass shards. I have an appointment on Sep. 28, 2021 to have the window replaced by a independent service center.
Intermittent wipers do not shut off.
Hello. My 2017 Ford F-150 has experienced the faulty windshield wiper issue resulting in the wiper motor to fail. As a result, I've had to replace the wiper motor engine\wiper arms twice in the past couple of years. All services were taken care of through the local Ford dealership including transaction history. I understand the recent recall for this issue but when I contact Ford customer service, they state it does not apply to my specific model. The recall for this was just anounced this week but only for 2021 & 2022 models. Please help. Thanks.
The Ford F-150 multi function switch has gone bad. The windshield wipers stay activated in the slowest mode. This obstructs the view of drivers, and is distracting. The part number fl3z-13k359-ac. This malfunction is an issue for 2015 models and newer. There are many videos online pertaining to this multi function switch malfuntion.
The rear window in my Ford F-150 cracked. There were no previous compromised areas and it was untouched when it happened. The vehicle had been in my garage. I had used the auto start to warm up the vehicle in the morning. It ran for approximately 15 minutes. I prepared to leave for work and noticed the large crack and chunk missing in the rear window.
The weather was slightly below freezing and my truck was parked in my drive. I used the remote start function on my key fob to allow the truck to warm up before I got in. After a few minutes I got in the truck. While the truck was parked and upon closing the door I heard glass shatter behind me. When I looked the entire plate of back glass on the truck had, for lack of a better word, exploded. Top to bottom and side to side the glass had completely broken. There was glass both inside my truck and in the bed of the truck.
I used remote start on the truck. This activates the defrost. It was in the garage with door down on that side (another door was open). I went out and the rear windshield was completely shattered. There was a burning smell in the truck when I entered. This could not have been due to something hitting it as it was enclosed within the garage. .
Tl-the contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehice was started remotely and the contact smelt burning plastic. When the contact entered the vehicle the rear window exploded both outward and inward with some glass on the backseat. The contact exited and examined the vehicle and he disconnected the battery as a precaution. The vehicle was sitting with the hood open waiting to be towed to the dealer hanna motors 371 hume st, collingwood on l9y 1w5 +1 705-445-4300. The contact lives in the us and was visiting relatives in canada. They said just get the vehicle's window repaired by a glass insurance company adn offered no further assistance. The manufacturer had not been contacted yet. The failure mileage was 54,000. Tf.
At 62,000 mileage, the ac compressor had to be replaced and belt that I was warned would seize. I am a first responder driving into our nearby mountain range. We dropped off the truck at the santa cruz, CA Ford dealership on Sep 28, 2020 and the job was completed on fri oct 2, 2020. They said it was fixed. 10 minutes later there was no ac as we drove home. This was during the CA wildfire season and daily aqi checks for health hazards. I brought it back in on mon, oct 5, 2020, they said their machine was broken and they had to send it out. We had to drive with our children in hazardous wildfire air quality all of October with the windows down. The defrost did not work either properly, blows into face instead, so the weather turned andresulted in me getting dispatches, driving in the dark through the mountains with no defrost windshield function. Hazard. Their machine was fixed Dec 18, 2020 so I brought it in again. It did not work, and the ac and defrost still broken as mechanics determined a connecting part they broke off in attaching the machine to my truck and now had to order that part from detroit. I brought it in Jan 7, 2021 and it was supposedly all fixed. 3 days later no ac or defrost. I work with a sheriff dept who has had this occur to their fleet of f150's this last year, and been given the runaround with supposed fix. They auctioned off their trucks because it was never properly resolved. This seems like a possible Ford part recall, and is a hazard for drivers.
Opened the back driver's side door and picked up my weed eater string out of the floor and when I closed the door the back glass blowed our!!! the vehicle was parked not running and sitting under my carport .
The F-150 was sitting in the driveway and I noticed that the rear window was in the process of shattering and falling out. There was a bulge on the drivers side and glass had fallen off the edge about three quarters of the way around the window. Temperature was 88 with clouds and the truck was in the shade. I opened the passenger rear door and the complete rear window, except the sliding window(electrically operated) was completely shattered. As I shut the rear door, glass started falling out of the bulged area, I called all star Ford in kilgore, TX, who sold the truck to me and they were no help. I had the extended warrenty, but glass is not covered.
The rear windshield of my 2017 f150, has randomly exploded and shattered into a million different pieces. This occurrence has happened 2 times now. Both times there was no external cause for the window shattering. The first occurrence happened while closing the drivers door when the car was parked, the other occurrence had while simply driving in a neighborhood road. There's not explanation for why the rear windshield explodes, nor is Ford willing to cover it.
Was using my remote start with rear window defrost this morning. As I was standing outside the truck and my wife was inside with all doors shut, the rear windshield spontaneously shattered. The truck was not moving and there was impact to the window.
Vehicle was parked in my garage and not started. Owner opened the front passenger side door to retrieve items located in the passenger seat. When owner closed the door, the back window of the vehicle exploded outward. This caused small pieces of shattered glass to land inside the truck bed and fall between the cab and bed of the truck. As vehicle was being driven to the Ford dealership and back home, small pieces of glass were dispersed within the cab of the truck across the back seat. The window had no previous damage and the truck remains parked in owner's garage except when in use. No environmental factors contributed to this event.
Got to work and parked my 2017 Ford f150. Came out 4 hours later and my back window was completely shattered. The slider was not touched but the rest looked like it had exploded from the inside out. My truck was parked where nothing could have hit it. If I had been driving while this window shattered I may have wrecked into another vehicle or person or gotten seriously injured or killed. Ford needs to recall these defective back windows as numerous complaints by consumers are everywhere you look. Come on Ford. Make it right!.
Rear window blow out. I turned on my vehicle this morning to warm up. I turned on the defrosters and went back inside for approximately 2 minutes. When I came back outside I could smell a electrical type burning smell. I am a firefighter and am familiar with this odor. No smoke or flames ever present/visible. I turned then suddenly heard a loud pop, realizing that both sides of my rear window had completely shattered. The vehicle was not moving. No one was in the vehicle and I was the only one near it. Nothing hit the window and I had never had the smell in my truck before.
Remote started vehicle this morning. Reached in to turn on defroster and went back into garage. About 3 minutes later, I heard a "pop" looked over and my back glass had shattered on both sides. Inside smelt of burning and there was wires exposed from the glass.
