The contact’s husband owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unexpectedly downshifted and hesitated. The contact also stated that the vehicle began to shake abnormally. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Timing chain and gears need to be replaced. Check engine light came on. This should not be happening to a newer vehicle with 100,000 miles on it. I looked up other complaints and multiple people have filed complaints about the timing chain going out on their vehicle.
Harsh and rough automatic shifting while transmission is cold. Diagnosed by dealership as bad cdf drum brushings. Recommend new transmission.
Transmission blew up and skips.
I had bought this vehicle in December 2019 and started having issue in December of 2022 with transmission shifting erratically took in for service at 33,000 miles they repaired and ran fine till recently in August of 2025 doing the same thing but worse than before erratic shifting and going back and forth in gears when you are going 65 mph it will shift down in gears this is a big safety concern due to erratic shifting.
Merging onto highway, the transmission stayed in-between gears and did not allow me to accelerate forcing me to ride the break down lane momentarily. I had to shift to n and then back to d to regain acceleration. As continued to the next exit the transmission shifted from 7 to 1 and then back to 7 causing a hard shift and a violent jolt of the vehicle. This happened in 9th gear as well before reaching my destination. A wrench icon was on the dash and the Ford app showed a "powertrain malfunction/reduced power" warning. There have also been countless hard shifts prior to the incident above. If there was no break down lane while merging, I would have been a hazard to the traffic on the limited access highway and may have caused an accident due to the low speed and no acceleration. I have a service appointment on sept 04, 2025 with the dealership I bought the vehicle from. (not a Ford dealer).
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60–70 mph, the vehicle jerked and vibrated abnormally. In addition, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact was able to continue driving; however, the vehicle was driving roughly. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
My ten speed transmission is shifting erratic and slipping. I have asked krenzen auto dealer to please diagnose and advise about the problem. They ran codes and say nothing comes up. I requested a transmission flush and was told they don't have the tools. I afraid that this could become a safety hazzard if it gets worse.
Slamming shifts and missing gears when driving. Went to accelerate yesterday and it completly missed 3rd gear and felt like it shut off before finally shifting into 4th after about 5 seconds.
My f150 constantly needs oil and seems to lag when the oil tank is low. 163000km on the engine. I've heard other 2019 f150 drivers have the same problem. It also has a hard shift after sitting for the night, it will drop gears while going uphill which seems to be from third gear to fourth but instead drops to 3rd again creating a clunk noise. It hasn't caused an accident or anything yet but from my last truck this thing definitely was not built the way it should have been. I think Ford needs to have a serious look at these trucks before someone gets hurt.
Transmission had a huge delay when trying to shift into 4th gear. Was trying to pull out and was almost hit by traffic because the truck would not accelerate. The truck cut power and took 5 seconds before it would shift into the next gear. This is a known issue with the cdf drum in the transmission, it is a design flaw and Ford knows about this issue. This is absolutely dangerous and needs to be recalled.
The transmission failed in October 2023 on my way home from work. Brought it to a transmission place and had another one put in. Cost $6k - the truck is now at another mechanic as it broke down again while driving home from work - transmission and engine this time. Mechanic says needs new transmission and timing chain kit - cost $10k this is a truck that has 100k miles on it and only 6 years old. This will be the 3rd transmission. It is a safety risk as I have no control when the transmission gives out whether its on a highway or one of these country back roads.
1)it was determined to be a defective cdf drum in the transmission was replaced by an independent service center. 2)the defective cdf drum started causing erratic and hard shifting. The most dangerous issue was when it would try to shift into 9th gear but indicated a shift for first gear on the display. It acted like it was deciding whether to shift to 9th or 1st but doing neither. The wrench icon would pop up on the display and I put on the brakes. If it would have shifted to 1st going 55 mph it could have caused injury to myself and others. 3) no accident happened so I did not report it to any authority. I capped the shifting to 7th gear max. 4)I had the service center inspect the vehicle and they determined the cdf drum was bad and the transmission needed to be repaired or replaced. 5)a warning light wrench icon lit up on the display after it indicated a shift to 1st gear instead of 9th gear going approximately 55 mph. Other symptoms were harsh shifts from 1st to 3rd gear skipping 2nd gear and other rough shifting throughout the range.
In July 2025 my 2019 Ford f150 began to have hard shift changes, unexpected downshifts and other shifting issues especially in 4th and 8th gear. Then during the first week of August I pulled out at an intersection and when the truck shifted into 4th gear it lost all power however the engine was still running. Thankfully no one was behind me as this could have caused a serious accident resulting in the loss of life for those involved. It slowed down to approximately 20 mph then suddenly regained power and lunged and shifted up to 5th. This happened several times so I took it to the local Ford dealer and they said the transmission was defective and needed replacing. The truck’s mileage was 129,000 and they said it was not covered by warranty and that even though Ford was aware of the numerous problems with the 2017-2022 10r80 transmission they refused to issue a recall and instead issued several tsbs (technical service bulletin) to the dealers. It costs me $8699. 72 to have a remanufactured transmission installed and has the improved cdf drum which was part of the defective transmissions Ford used in 2017-2022 in their F-150, ranger, expedition and explorers. Ford knowing and continues to endanger the lives of its customers that operate these vehicles built between 2017-2022 by refusing to issue a recall for the known 10r80 transmission problems and it is costing these customers thousands of dollars to repair what Ford should have done in the first place. Nhtsa must investigate these issues and mandate Ford issue an immediate recall and fully reimburse customers who have paid to have their transmissions replaced.
The contact owned a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the contact’s wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle's speed was about 30 mph. The contact stated the vehicle drove across the grass of the neighbor's yard, which was located directly across from the contact’s home. The vehicle crashed into the neighbor's parked vehicle, which was parked in the neighbor's driveway. The vehicle then went into an embankment and into a little ditch. The contact stated that the vehicle came out of the ditch and into the street sideways. No injuries were sustained. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The neighbor's vehicle was condemned as a total loss. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 66,500.
The transmission can behave erratically: harsh shifting, jerking or lunging, occasional temporary loss of power, gear slipping, difficulty shifting gears, and unexpected movement while driving. I have already had the vehicle inspected and the transmission serviced, but the behavior continues at random times and is difficult to recreate on demand. This poses a potential safety threat to people in this vehicle and those nearby.
Transmission shifts hard and accelerates unexpectedly. Acceleration is not smooth as expected.
Unexpected downshift from 10th down to 1st gear then back to 10th.
Transmission failure causing downshifts at highway speeds to 1st gear and neutral. Random shifting issues causing vehicle jerking and loss of power to the wheels. Safety of all passengers at risk when merging onto highways into traffic at speed. Unable to safely get to highway speeds without power loss or sudden rough jerking. Problem was reproduced by dealer and 3rd party service shop manufacturer refused to look into the issue, only recommended full replacement at $10,000 of the owners expense and did not guarantee the issue will go away without a warranty. Signs found 20k miles earlier, manufacturer called them "normal symptoms" and shouldn't need to be looked at.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, while at stop a light the vehicle jerked abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and agreed to cover a part of the cost for the repair. The approximate failure mileage was 58,800.
Transmission shifting to random gears roughly. Driving on highway and went from 7-8 then down to 1 then back to 9 and lost power on the highway. Came back and was able to pull of to the side but this transmission has been rough for a while now but today became a major safety problem. .
Failure of the timing chain started as a rattle on a cold start. I contacted the dealership, and they indicated that all 2019 ecoboosts need to have cam phasers and timing chain replaced, or they can cause major engine failure.
At freeway speeds, truck suddenly started shifting into random gears. It was cruising in 10th gear at about 65-70mph, with trailer in tow, driving normally and fine. Truck started shifted randomly, slipping gears, and going out of gear completely causing power loss. Transmission would then attempt to shift back into gear, all on its own. It would go into 5th through 10 all while slipping back out of gear in between. Some of the down shifts were sudden, and caused me to concentrate to keep the truck and trailer in control. After a few minutes of this, smoke appeared out the back, quite a deal of smoke. It wasn't long until the transmission temperature guage started reading high (but not warning or critical). Then the check engine like came on with "powertrain error". I was able to pull off the freeway, but under duress as it was very busy, and the smoke caused another motorist to pull over and see if I was on fire. It appeared the transmission fluid was "venting" and spraying on the exhaust, and after pulling over it luckily stopped, otherwise I'm sure that oil would have caught fire shortly.
While driving in texas the transmission of my vehicle started to act up. While going up a hill the transmission came out of gear and would not go which almost caused an accident. The transmission is the Ford 10r80 which has had several safety issues. A recall needs to be issued by Ford to fix the issue at Ford's expense. This will cause a serious accident.
On [xxx] with an empty vehicle besides I myself the driver, going south bound on [xxx] just north of twin falls idaho I had cruise control set to 81 mph when I felt a slow to the vehicle then noticed an uncontrolled/unprompted shift and loss of power indicated on the dash cluster jumping from 10-9-7-10-5-3-8-9 gears then transmission temperature went from 176 degrees to 205 degrees for the remainder of the trip. I proceeded to pull over and let the transmission rest for 45 mins then proceeded with my trip after not seeing any exterior damage or leaks. And it did not shift higher than 9th gear while cruise control was engaged even at lower speeds. The transmission then began to experience harder shifting, and gained a shutter like a clutch pack not engaging properly form 1-3rd gear, and sporadic shifting under light normal driving conditions at random intervals and remains to now have a normal operating temp of 204 degrees under normal driving conditions. Took it to be diagnosed at a Ford dealer and it was the cdf drum that lead to a a cascade of issues leading to the transmission needing replacement. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Knocking, rattling noise so we brought to the mechanic. Cam phasers and timing chain need to be replaced.
Transmission has erratic behavior. Several times it would not downshift or would hunt for a proper gear with the 10 speed automatic transmission at intersections and when making turns with oncoming traffic. Very dangerous. I have decided to park it. Dealer said it needs transmission replacement.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced hard shifts. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
The truck will not stay in park and rolls backward if on a slope. This has happened several times and I am afraid someone is going to be injured or killed.
In June we started having transmission issues. Collateral was taken to lynch Ford in mt. Vernon IA. When we would drive the unit the transmission would slip. The final incident was when we were driving down [xxx] at 70 miles per hour the transmission began to slip again. We had to pull over off the side of the road as the truck went in to limp mode. We had to continue to drive to the dealer at a lower rate of speed because we could not get a tow truck to pick us up. Dealer informed us the transmission was out and needed replaced. We spent close to 8k to replace the transmission. The collateral had just turned over 100k for miles. Since installing the new transmission we continue to have transmission issue. Truck as been back to lynch Ford for further a diagnostic. They flashed the transmission and told us to drive the unit 400 miles to see if the flash fixes the problem. We have only had the truck less than 8 months. Location stanwood iowa. There should be a recall on these transmissions and owners who spent money to replace the transmission should be reimbursed. Transmission flutters a little before changing from 1st to 2nd gear. In 4th and 5th gear the transmission pauses a few seconds before going into the next gear. From 8th gear to the ninth gear, the transmission jerks really hard. The transmission only has 72000 miles on it. And also the dash board material is coming up. The lane assist jerks really hard sometimes, forcing you in another lane. No warnings or faults during each incidents.
Went to pull out into traffic and the transmission would not go into gear. It would not go forward or reverse, so I had to push it out of the road. There were no warning lamps on for transmission service.
My 2019 f150 has issues with both the cam phasers and the transmission. Every time I turn on my truck I get the Ford “cold start rattle” because defective parts from the factory that Ford has known were defective and later fixed but for some reason my truck was not in the recall. My truck came off the same assembly line and time period of previous csp or recall programs but my VIN was never included. My truck also has 60,000 miles and the 10 speed transmission clunks all the time. I’m not sure if it’s missing shifts or what is breaking but everyone with a f150 around this year knows they are common to have transmission issues. Sometimes my truck doesn’t find the proper gear getting started and will rev high and barely move until it finally gets shift right and gets moving. These 2019 f150 issues are far too common I see them all across the blogs and internet and know a few other owners who have similar issues.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the vehicle started shuddering and the rpm became elevated. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the cdf cylinder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 78,000.
Transmission, gets stuck in high gears when only doing 20 mph. Had transmission rebuilt and a new torque converter by a Ford dealer. . Still has issues and they have no clue !!!!!!! it puts strain in the eingine. . . . . . And makes the transmission shutter! this has been since 60,000 miles, truck now has 70,100 miles.
