On three occasions when I have started the truck, there is a deafening sound from the speaker system that sounds like a pop with glass shattering. Then it had a loud static sound that can't be silenced and the volume button does nothing. After turning the truck off for 5-10 minutes the problem resolves, though it does continue for several minutes after turning the truck off.
I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding the unresolved rear axle recall on my Ford f150. Although a temporary repair was performed last year, I remain deeply worried about the safety of my vehicle and, more importantly, the safety of my family. I have contacted my local Ford dealership multiple times to address this recall, but each time I am informed that there are no parts available for the necessary repairs. Given that this recall has been outstanding for some time, I am troubled by the apparent lack of urgency from Ford to resolve this critical safety issue. To add to my concern, the axle bolt has already broken once, which poses a significant risk while driving. I urge the NHTSA to intervene and provide assistance in expediting the resolution of this recall. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I appreciate any help you can provide. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I have only had my 2022 Ford f150 XLT for about 2 months and the ac is not working. It is blowing hot. I took it to dealership and paid $220 for a diagnostic and they said it is the evaporator core. Dealership I bought it from says it passed inspection test but I'm not sure how and 1 month after I bought it it's not working. Very disappointing being I've only had the truck a little over a month. And even more disappointing everywhere I look online everyone is having this same issue and Ford has not issued a recall.
As reported. While driving the vehicle at night the driver noticed smoke externally behind the truck, upon pulling over smoke started to enter the cab through the dash vents. The driver immediately exited the vehicle went to the front of the vehicle and opened the hood and smoke came from the engine compartment. A flame/fire could be seen in the engine compartment. 911 emergency services were called. In that time the truck engine compartment and cab burned completely.
I was driving to work early in the morning on [xxx], approximately 6:30 am, when all of suddenly I heard a loud bang and I could no longer accelerate my vehicle. I was fortunate enough to have the time to steer off to the shoulder of the highway. I got out of my vechile and my drive shaft was hanging off, broken and twisted. I called a tow truck and got it told to the Ford dealership in independence, were I bought my vehicle. After a Ford mechanic inspected my vechile the total cost was 8,500 dollars for the repairs. My vehicle warranty was not able to cover that cost because it was over by 5,000 miles. I tow the vehicle to my house to get the opinions of other mechanics to see if they're able to fix the truck. After the mechanics looked at the damage, they all said that it looked like a fabrication issue or a recall. A drive shaft should not just fall off from a 2022 F-150 truck with the mileage the vehicle has. Also, the rear ends of trucks usually last at least 300,00 miles, and that part was destroyed in my vehicle. My drive shaft looks like it exploded in a unatual fashion. I have attached photos of the damages of the vehicles to provide a visual image of what the mechanic saw. I purchased this newer model truck, so I would not be in this situation. I have made all my monthly payments on time and have kept up with all the maintenance required. I am currently renting a vehicle from enterprise to get to work, and I would love to get out of this situation. I was lucky enough for my car insurance company to cover most of the cost and for me not to sustain any injuries. I believe it would have been a different story if it had happened during heavy traffic elsewhere, where I could not pull over on the side of the road, my life could have been seriously at risk. I received a recall on my 2022 Ford f150 vehicle stating that the wheel end hub bolt in the rear axle may become loose or break. Continued use of the vehicle can cause damages to other vehicles and/or cause crashes. I tried to have this repaired when I received a recall notice back in November 2025 but they were unable to help. I dropped my vehicle off on 1/6/26 for recall repair and they are telling me there are no parts available and won't get a new update letter until 4th quarter 2026. I did ask about providing a rental in the meantime they immediately denied my request. At this time I do not feel safe removing my vehicle from the lot or driving it. I spoke with earl at Ford recall assistance center on 1/23/26 (ref call number: [xxx]) . I can not go without a vehicle, this is absolutely unacceptable and I am submitting this complaint and will be moving forward with legal counsel. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Door lock is freezing. If locked, cannot unlock. If unlocked, cannot lock. Do will not auto lock when driving. Concerned that do will open when driving. There was a recall for 2019 models, and the issue continues in 2022.
Driving on the highway at highway speeds, heard clanking then a loud bang, then vehicle would not longer respond to the accelerator so we coasted onto the median. We had the vehicle towed and found out from a Ford dealer that the rear axle had broken due to Ford's failure to repair under manufacturer recall number23s65 NHTSA recall number23v896 and that had caused damage to the rear differential. We were fortunate not to have been in or caused a significant accident. I had the vehicle at a Ford dealer in illinois in 2024, but the recall was not performed due to lack of parts. This incident happened thereafter, in November of 2025, and the vehicle has been off of the road at a Ford dealer in indiana since. Same story, no parts. Ford offers no timeline for repair, advising it could be 3 months, could be a year - it is indefinite. I recently was advised that there are 70,000 orders for the parts for this repair, and although I am on the "emergency off road list" that is still 15,000 orders long. Additionally, I had the vehicle in early in my ownership window for lags when the transmission shifted at certain times, it was checked and given the all clear, but - intermittently arose - given Ford representations I ignored it but never felt the delays were safe as it slowed vehicle responsiveness, albeit it slightly. I now see active litigation around these transmission issues in the F-150.
After entering my 2022 f150 lariat in a parking lot and starting it, I placed my iphone on the charger and I backed out of the spot I was in with my hazard lights turned on. I placed the vehicle in drive and turned off the hazard lights. As I pulled forward, a deafening sound came from the back seat of my truck that sounded like some kind of electric static with a popping noise. I reflexively pressed the break, ducked my head and tried to turn the volume knob down which did nothing. I pressed the stop/start button to shut the vehicle off and that did not change the sound coming from the door speakers. I jumped out of the truck because the sound was painful and proceeded to use a pair of pliers from a leatherman that I was carrying to disconnect the positive side of the battery; this too did nothing. At this point, I closed all of doors and searched the web on my phone to see if similar problems existed for other owners and if there was a fix. After about 8-10 minutes, the sound stopped. Based on what I read, this was a widely known issue on Ford f150 models between the years 2021-2024. Apparently, Ford has not responded to this yet. If this we’re to happen while driving, it’s would be shocking enough to cause a reflexive action that could put people in danger of a crash. I have video of this occurrence if needed.
My truck continues to have the radio distortion problems that it has had after numerous software updates and repair actions. Approximately the first week of November in 2022 is when the first radio problem occurred. I only had the vehicle for about a month. The radio played an extremely loud distortion sound, close to an alarm tone, immediately after starting the truck. 3 different Ford dealers attempted software updates and replacing the apim module, but the issue came back several times. After the last over the air software update on Sep 17, 2025, the radio distortion has happened at least 6 times since then. The Sep 17 update specifically addressed the audio issues while using android auto. My warranty expired on July of 2025. I did not take delivery of the truck until late September because of shipping issues. Even with the delayed delivery of the truck, Ford told me that my warranty term was from Jul of 2022 to Jul of 2025. I always keep a 10mm socket in my truck in case I have to disconnect the battery in order to stop the radio distortion. In some cases, I'm able to change the radio source and the distortion will stop. Since the software update on Sep 17, the radio distortion has happened every 3 - 4 weeks. The original dealer that I purchased the truck from recommended that 2 other modules could be causing the problem. The dsp module and the acm module could also cause the radio distortion. My truck has been out of warranty since July of 2025, but it seems like this issue should be addressed by the Ford team.
Ford has had my truck at the dealer for 4 weeks trying to perform recall 25v315. The update has not been successful and Ford will not give me my truck back while they try and come up with a solution. My truck did not experience any problems with the rear camera screen freezing. Other trucks are experiencing similar problems.
Rear passenger window stopped working due to switch failure. Unsafe for passengers in rear as road debris and outdoor weather was able to get in. Issue was resolved by replacing master switch.
Brought vehicle to shop to have tires rotated, axle bolt fell out after miles of noise. Reported to Ford, deemed drivable. Clicking sound from rear end began in November, brought to dealership. Vehicle deemed undrivable via Ford due to ongoing axle issues and noise coming from axle. Vehicle has been at the Ford dealership since November 12, 2025. Ford has provided a rental which is not a work vehicle. Ford has given me no answers, in fact, the last time I called on 1/16/26, the "advocate" asked me if I'd like to get in touch with the parts department. She said there is no timeline for getting my truck back.
I recently ought a 2022 Ford F-150 off of a private seller. It had a clean carfax when I bought it. About a month after I bought the truck, on July 24, 2025, the following warning lights appeared on my dash all on the same day. Blind spot assist not available, cross traffic assist not available, and reverse brake assist not available. Also, my drivers side window would not roll down, and my drivers side lock/unlock buttons would not work. There were not any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. So I took my truck into gary smith Ford in fort walton beach, FL. On July 25, 2025 and they came back with the file I have uploaded below with the diagnosis and estimate. Of course the warranty has just expired a few months ago. We tried to make a claim with our insurance company and that was denied. I have also reached out to Ford customer service and they refused to help in any way. We were also never offered a loaner vehicle and my truck has been at the dealership for three weeks now. I am currently active duty military and this is now effecting my ability to report for duty, and causing my leadership to question me. It is also effecting my family as we now only have one vehicle. As you can see in the link below, the estimate is quite high. And it is extremely frustrating that Ford has refused to help in any way, and will not provide any logical reason as to why except that the warranty is expired. Especially since this isn't my fault at all. Any help in rectifying this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
This is regarding Ford's known issue with their evaporator cited in TSB 22-2089. The evaporator caused a compressor to fail, which caused a power train failure notification in sync and on the phone app. The compressor is under warranty, but the evaporator is not, which causes a $3600 repair (parts and labor). According to the bulletin, the evaporator known issue is not considered a threat to life, even though it certainly is a threat to life to not have air conditioning in hotter states. The part is currently being replaced at our local dealership.
The vehicle produces an extremely loud static or popping blast from the speakers at startup or during operation. The volume controls do not respond and the noise can only be stopped by shutting the vehicle off. The sound is ear-piercing, leaves ringing in the ears, and startles the driver. This has occurred more than once. One incident happened while driving on the freeway and nearly caused a loss of control due to the sudden and extremely loud noise. Another occurrence was captured on video while the vehicle was being operated at low speed. The condition occurs without warning and cannot be reproduced on demand. The vehicle is equipped with the b&o unleashed audio system. No warning lights or messages appear prior to the event. A dealer acknowledged the condition and indicated that a module reprogramming is required to correct it. Ford has issued special service message (ssm) 51663 addressing loud static from the audio system in affected vehicles. Despite the vehicle being under an extended warranty, the corrective repair is being classified as a software update and quoted as a customer-paid repair. This unexpected loud audio blast presents a safety concern due to driver distraction and potential hearing harm.
The 8" digital cluster has gone blank. I cannot see any gauges, mileage, fuel or warnings messages. This is a major safety issue that should not be on the owner and should be covered by a recall. I brought it to the dealer to perform a test on the cluster and they came back saying it would need a replacement for $1800. A digital cluster should last the life of a vehicle not go out in the first 3 years just out of warranty.
I was driving through rain on [xxx] and my truck was having trouble shifting in 4x4 mode. An error message appeared stating "4x4 service needed". I clicked ok and the message went away. Due to driving, I was unable to take a photo of the error message. When I called maguires Ford where I purchased the vehicle, they told me this message meant the system could malfunction and that I needed to bring the vehicle in ASAP. At first they told me there was no history of the error message and since they could not pull a code, there was nothing they could do. After reviewing a second time, they verified the error message did appear but they could still not pull a code so there wasn't anything they could do. They said most likely the rain got into the module and caused the system to malfunction. I asked how rain would get into the module and they didn't answer the question. No further investigation was completed and they told me to take the vehicle home. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Hello, I am having trouble getting my safety recall repaired, and they told me to file a complaint here. Nhtsa safety recall25v315. Please let me know if this is the right form to fill out.
The truck loses power while accelerating especially turning right now when accelerating going straight very scary almost been hit by other cars.
The problem is not a safety issue but needs to be addressed for recall. There is a underbody shield called the splash guard or skid plate. It's a cloth shield that covers the oil pan. It's make of some kind of cloth instead of a metal. It fell off Jan 17, 2025, the first time and I was charged $154. 83. I was told this wasn't covered under warranty and it gets wet, freezes and comes off. At this time I saw 4 other f150s with this piece of cloth dragging under their trucks. This shows me that it happens to alot of f150s. This just happened again 4/11/2025. There was no snow to blame this on. After checking google for this I see there was some 185,000 recalls fromm 2000 throughout 2022. My truck is a 2022 but wasn't covered under the recall. Again this piece came off and I filed a complaint with Ford customer service because I refuse to pay for another factory defect. They suggested I file a complaint with you so here I am.
Still waiting for a fix. Been over a year for a fix but still nothing.
Sudden, loud static and crackling noises emitting from the b/o unleashed sound system. It was so sudden, loud and startling, I could see it scaring a driver enough to make them panic and cause an accident. I was concerned that it was going to blow the speakers.
Day time running lamps on the side of the headlight have burnt out. First time it was the passenger side that died, had it replaced under warranty. Then a few month later after my warranty was up, the driver side has now died as well. The fact I have had this truck 2 and a half year and both have failed is unacceptable. I see every single f150 on the road with the exact same issue! this isn't a fluke or bad luck on my vehicle. From my research online, tons of others are complaining about it too. The dealership wanted $2400. 00 to replace it, with what is likely another faulty light that would have the same issue in a few years. This is a hazard to myself and others because my vehicle isn't lit up like it should be so that I am visible to others on the road. Also I have had 4 or 5 water leaks in the brief time of owning this truck that Ford has blamed on me. Water gets in and collects on the passenger side floorboard under the carpet. I have been without my vehicle multiple times while they attempted to get a specialist to find the issue. Had to pay for my own rental vehicle for a week because they " dont give out loaners" even when you are under warranty.
It was the transmission. It downshifted at a high speed going down the highway. Took it to the dealership and they said they could see it downshifted but had no fix for it or did not know why.
The panoramic sunroof on 2022 Ford f150 spontaneously exploded while traveling down a smooth road with no traffic around.
Loud noise like bomb went off when started vehicle then static in radio speakers wouldn’t stop. I have a 2022 Ford f150 lariat with b&o unleashed speakers. Lots of complaints and told to report this issue. Radio came on next day but scared it will happen again.
2022 Ford F-150. The vehicle displays a warning message that reads, "trailer disconnected" continuously. It comes on as soon as the engine is started and comes back on as quickly as I can press the "ok" button to make it go away. I have taken the truck to the dealer for repairs four times so far and it still comes back. I have paid to have the trailer break control module reprogrammed as well as having a new one installed. The Ford web site lists this as a recall for the '22 F-150 but not for my specific VIN so it would appear the problem is larger than they know. Here is the link to Ford's description of the recall: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
This is the 3rd time this has happened since purchasing this vehicle. Purchased on 7/27/24. The previous 2 times it resolved itself and the vehicle started and ran with no apparent issues afterwards. 1st was on 8/05/24, 2nd was on 10/14/24. On this 3rd and current time I went to start the vehicle and vehicle would not start. The lights and radio work but the vehicle did not start. Only displayed a stop safely now message on the instrument panel. This is one of my worse fears happening as I type this. I'm stranded with a vehicle that will not start and my father is on his death bed with no way to get to him. . . .
When at a signal light with the brake pushed, we are experiencing an issue where the whole vehicle will unexpectedly lurch forward as if hit from behind after coming to a stop. This could possibly result in the truck hitting the vehicle in front of you if you are in tight traffic. Our local dealer inspected but could not find a solution.
Incredible load white noise from all speakers, unable to stop without turning truck off. Volume controls do nothing, turning off all radios and accessories does not stop it.
Windshield wipers stop working for minutes at a time. Then work and pause off an on half way up the windshield. The tailgate won't stay up. It will drop open all on its own when driving even when it's locked.
My rear passenger side window will not go back up. It is constantly receiving power to pull the roll the window down. This is a known problem in the community. If you visit any Ford F-150, explorer, or maverick forum, there are post about work arounds on how to get the window up and temporarily get the window to stay up until the part comes in to repair it the correct way. Many of the people are posting that it is a known problem and the dealerships are just "yeah, we know, the parts are on back order, we can get you scheduled when it comes in". My argument is that if it is a known issue, why is the manufacturer waiting until the owner reports it to perform the repair. Especially, because due to the constant power being applied, it could burn up the power window motor, safety interlocks for auto up/down, or if the materials get too hot eventually causing other electrical issues. From what I have found online it appears to be a known problem affecting mainly 2021-2022 year model vehicles.
Hvac temperature does not regulate in the winter months. When the temperature is set to the 60’s the vehicle continues to blow air in the 80’s. It gets extremely hot and the only way to cool down is by setting the temperature to low, turning on the a/c, or opening a window. This is with ambient temperatures in the 20’s-30’s.
Vehicle information year/make/model: 2022 Ford F-150 mileage: 38,488 component: sunroof / visibility / water leak complaint description I am filing this complaint regarding a recurring safety issue with my 2022 Ford F-150 equipped with the optional sunroof. The sunroof has a persistent water leak that occurs during rainfall. This leak drips directly into the cabin area, creating a significant distraction while driving and fogging of the windshield. The distraction is especially hazardous during inclement weather when driver focus is critical for safe operation. The vehicle has been taken to suburban Ford for service on three separate occasions. The first two service times the vehicle was returned with the vehicle issue not corrected. It is currently in for service for the third time. I have been informed that the entire sunroof system, the headliner and seat will need to be replaced. This condition is a known issue affecting F-150 vehicles with the optional sunroof. The repeated failure of the sunroof system to remain watertight, combined with the lack of timely repair parts creates an ongoing safety hazard for its drivers. Safety concern the water intrusion causes driver distraction and could lead to loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Request I urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue as a potential safety defect affecting Ford F-150 vehicles with sunroofs.
