general problems of the 2023 Ford F-150 - part 2

The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed and it was determined that the wiring harness had failed due to rodents chewing on the wires. The contact was informed that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.

While not a safety issue, I would like to lodge a complaint against Ford for not including my vehicle's VIN on a NHTSA published recall that it should be eligible for. For 22g06, my 2023 Ford F-150 had the heated steering wheel removed due to the chip shortages. Ford is refusing to either fix or explain why my vehicle is not eligible, even though it meets the "affected vehicles" requirements on the document at the below link. Https://static. Nhtsa. Vehicle lost electrical power to multiple systems- instrument cluster did not display any information- could not tell the speed of the vehicle, how much fuel was in the vehicle, gauges for coolant, oil, etc. Were non-existent, did not have use of turn signals, hazard lights, blind spot indicators, did not have use of wipers, heating/cooling and defrost, could not tell what gear vehicle was in, could not tell what mode the vehicle was in. This made the vehicle extremely dangerous to drive. There have been multiple electrical issues prior to this. All issues have been addressed by Ford dealer and supposedly fixed as of now.

Driving down the road, a "service needed" code will pop up on the dash. It will then go away. However, in the next few minutes a "shift service fault" will pop up on the screen. I then get a notification on my Ford app that says I have a powertrain fault.

I continually get remote features disabled to preserve battery. Have taken it in to dealer, they can't find anything. I am told to drive truck for forty minutes or so. This doesn't help because in a couple of days it goes back to the warning. , it offers updates for the software for the Ford pass app it will never download. It says an error has occurred I didn't pay over $70000 for this truck to have to take it for a forty minute drive every couple of days to keep the battery charged if t can not be repaired, I would like a refund of my money and you take your truck back. This incident occurs every three or four days. .

Powertrain failure. Vehicle unresponsive. Multiple complains through various individuals of this failure. Battery pack failures causing numerous safety issues related to driving, 12v system, etc.

The part they replace the rear light bar that you have a recall for also fails in the exact same manner causing my reverse lights to stay on while driving.

I was driving down the road at approximately 35mph. The vehicle began to sputter and then started loosing power. I was only able to drive approximately another 150 meters and get over to the shoulder of the road. Once stopped the vehicle stopped running all together. The vehicle did have power but only to the electronics. The engine had shut down. I shut off the vehicle all the way and then restarted. It ran fine after that. This was on 01/29/2025. The vehicle had a previous instance where it did not start. It would crank the motor for approximately 6 to 8 seconds, the engine would fire and then shut off after about 1-2 seconds. The fuse box and wiring harness have both been replaced and the vehicle still seems to be having issues that could cause major damage and or injuries/death to the occupants.

Available for inspection. The "brain" of the truck is in the stereo system. The time on the call varies, but, the call will drop the bluetooth or wired connection with the truck, the radio will reset, and go to a broadcast radio station, from which it will stay for about 5-30 seconds while resetting, and then the call will recommence on the in-house system again. Neither party knows until I start hollering that the call has been dropped. I have checked with apple, and there are no issues with it, and all updates have been completed. During the call with the tech people at Ford, the tech said it is a known problem. The truck has been in the shop on several occasions at Ford villages and in ocala, florida, starting in February 2025. On 3/14/25, eight modules had to be updated & I was assured that it would fix the issue. After is was dropped it off, it happened again. I took it back on 3/21, and this time they said they could not duplicate the problem. Furthermore, the issue would need to be fixed, most likely by an over-the-air update. On the way home, I called my brother, and it happened not more than ten minutes out of the shop! 3/25/2025, I contacted Ford again through their customer service line and told them I wanted to start the lemon law buyback process. A few days later, I got a call back – denied. I am going through the lemon law process now. They offered a $4k buyback, which I soundly rejected as an insult. Regardless, this truck is unsafe to operate due to the distractions that are created by the unreliability of the carplay system. I have ended up in a ditch, almost ran off the road by other drivers and various other close calls, all because I have had to adjust the phone to where it would work while I am driving. Most likely the carplay (android-based) incompatibility with the apple software and users are made to suffer for it whatever it is, it must be immediately resolved. Consumers do not need to be caught in between the petty games. Still or moving.

This vehicle started having issues. The truck would shut off going down the highway at 60-65 mph. The radio would blink on and off. The truck would shut down and not turn back on for multiple hours. Dealer couldn't replicate the problem. Our son utilized the truck to go and pick up lp gas for us from his shop. On the way back to our home, he stopped at a stop sign and suddenly noticed smoke coming from the dash. He attempted to put out the fire which was then raging under the dashboard and hood. He got the fire out, fire department arrived, truck ignited again. The fire department put out the truck. Son was burned trying to not have the truck explode with gas tanks in the back.

I started receiving notifications that the battery on my 2023 Ford f150 was in battery save mode due to low battery. I called my dealership and set up an appointment. I took in my vehicle and they charged the battery but told us that Ford has an issue with these batteries not holding a charge. He recommended we just run our truck in the driveway for 30 min when this happens. The charge lasted 3 day's, I drive this vehicle multiple times daily and we have taken many trips in it. I have never had a vehicle that the battery will not charge properly and then to be told they know this is an issue but aren't doing anything to fix it is unacceptable.

My Ford f150 was hit by another vehicle going at least 45 mph on the passenger which push my vehicle into another vehicle. However, the airbags was never deployed which cause injury to my right side from steering wheel.

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The bill of sale stated that the semi-conductor chip was not installed due to a chip shortage. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the failure was related to customer satisfaction program: 22g06; however, the VIN was included. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.

The instrument cluster failed to present information upon start up. Multiple restarts did not resolve the issue.

The front trunk (or frunk) of the electric truck has a power lift as the primary means of opening and closing it and this has a failure warning/dash light stating it requires service. The front trunk is where the travel charger is stored by the manufacturer as well as where the positive and negative terminals for the 12 v battery are located. In the absence of the power open function, there is a tab to "pop the hood" but this requires the tab to be held back while a second person pulls open the hood to get it to open/is not possible to open by just the driver. Ford recognizes this problem under the code cxh-03906163-g5j3d0 "reprogram the front hatch control module fchm" but is listing it as a recommended repair to the dealerships, not a recall. Ford does not list a mileage restriction on this recommended repair, but dealerships will not repair at their cost past 36000 miles. A non-functioning hood or trunk latch that restricts access to key electronic components is a safety issue, not just an inconvenience.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while asleep, the vehicle was caught on fire. The contact stated that the dogs alarmed them of the failure and the contact could hear the tires possibly popping. The vehicle was parked outside the garage where the exterior and interior walls, attic, and electrical box were burned. The local fire department arrived to extinguish the flame and filed a report but was unavailable. A police report was not filed. No injuries were sustained. The contact stated the fire marshal advised that the vehicle should not moved until further investigation. In addition, the contact stated that the fire may have started from the middle console due to an ev battery failure. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

2019 f150 backup camera doesn't work. Ford recalled some 2019 f150's but not mine. I've noticed they are having a huge issue with backup cameras and was also told the same by the dealership. Seems as like they should be responsible for fixing mine too. 2019 supercab door locks freeze. Ford fixed under a recall. The recall worked for a year. Called dealer back last year Ford won't fix it again. It's obviously a manufacturer defect that wasn't fixed correctly on the recall. Seems crazy that I have to pay them to fix it again. The lock freezes open and you can't lock the door. It will open while driving.

The instrument cluster does not turn on. Screen stays blank.

Instrument cluster panel was rainbow now is all black unable to see how much gas in in truck tire pressure or all other important gauges.

It happened several times already. My f150 tremor randomly has extremely loud electrical sound pop through the speakers followed by the loud static, no matter I listen to radio or connect to android studio. It's super dangerous to hear this while driving.

Problem with instrument panel, instrument display, dashboard. When turning on the vehicle, it does not present any information, black screen with a faint light on the edge. I turn on, turn off and drive the vehicle and the information does not return. The main screen of the center works normal, the vehicle does everything normal, even heard.

I entered my 23 f150 lightning lariat started the vehicle, was driving into work with my stero on 5 ( fairly low volume ) in surround mode, and all of the speakers suddently popped at an extremely high volume which was very shocking for a safety standpoint. I stopped the truck thinking there was a major electrical issue checked the truck / amp components for any sort of water or other issue, ( truck is mint new condition ) and nothing was found, all connections were clearly seated well. Truck radio was in surround mode, switched to stero and everything seemed fine and no issues, switched back to surround mode and the issue immediately reappeared. So its something with this mode / amp / setting. . . Did quite an extensive amount of reading online and came accross this issue was quite extensive for this truck. It needs to be documented and fixed, dealer shrugged when I called them. . .

The contact stated that since the purchase of the vehicle, the warning lights had been illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The contact stated that the failure persisted. On a separate occasion while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked and failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle failed to accelerate or exceed 30 mph. In addition, an abnormal rattling sound was coming from the bottom of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not inspected or diagnosed; however, the contact was informed that the failure might be associated with the front differential. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

Instrument cluster is freezing. No listed speed or any vehicle driving information while the vehicle is moving.

The vehicle stopped to work without any warning or apparent reason. Now the gear shift is stuck at park position and the vehicle will not start asking the driver to move the gear selector to park position. It will not also take any charge (it's lightning, an ev). It's a safety hazard if the vehicle stop while driving and may leave the driver and passengers stranded away from home.

I got into my vehicle and turned it on but the dashboard would not respond. On the advice of some Ford forums, I attempted a soft reset of the "infotainment" system by holding down the volume down + next track buttons and the center console screen restarted but the dashboard would not turn on. I ended up driving home using my phone as a gps speedometer. After multiple restarts, I waited about 3 hours to try to restart the truck and when the dashboard suddenly started working again.

After driving for approximately 2 hours, a/c stopped blowing out of vents. Even adjusting the fan speed up & lowering temp, vents did not blow air. However, I could hear air blowing within console. During this time, defrost of windshield did not work. I turned off system for approximately 30 minutes and then system began working. This same situation has happened 2previous times.

Main dashboard display stayed off (blank) when car was started, tried several times, it drove ok but had no instrumentation on speed etc. Was able to drive home from work for 30 mins. I have seen online a few people have had the same issue.

Right rear taillight lens has water ingression. The dealer states that they cannot replace the lens under warranty because of a technical issue bulletin issued by Ford moter company that states that condensation is normal and that it should dissipate after a short period of time. Well this has not gone away. And after some time, it will start corroding the electrical connections for the lights and cause them to stop working. The dealer is telling me that it would no be covered under warranty until there is at least a quarter of water in the bottom of the lens. By that time the electrical connections for the lights will be damaged.

When I turned on vehicle the instrument cluster screen was blank. Could not see my speed, etc. Restarting vehicle after placing in park did not fix it. The issue continued while driving vehicle (again with no speedometer). After I got to destination it resolved itself on subsequent start up.

Gauge cluster completely dark. Cluster is a screen type when dark no speed visible. No warning lights available for safety feedback. Driving without speed is very dangerous mileage u known as display shows mileage.

The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light had remained illuminated, and the speed erroneously increased and decreased while driving. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the turbo was faulty. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact had also experienced several electrical failures, including the rear window becoming inoperable, failing to open and close as needed. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,000.

My truck is brand new. The a/c lines and evaporator coil are freezing up when using the a/c, resulting in no air flow out of the vents in the cabin. I checked forums online and this has been a common problem with my vehicle yet Ford has filed no recall to fix it. Dealership states it’s a faulty temp sensor in the evaporator. Ford refuses to pay for the fix under the vehicle manufacturer warranty because no warning lights are displayed on your dash.

Stopped truck, the rear passenger window went down on its own! the window would not go back up. We stopped at a nearby Forddealership and a service rep looked at it and indicated that when we hit the window button he could hear clicking and said our rear passenger window motor was probably dead. The service rep assisted us in putting plastic on the window, which did not adhere well! we were about 60 miles away from home with young children on a 3 day vacation, the loud noise from the plastic vibrating from the window was deafening!!.
