1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2026

Soy-based wire insulation has caused engine damage to vehicle. Rodents have damaged the vehicle wiring due to soy-based wires installed during manufacturing. I have to pay expensive repairs due to mice chewing on soy-based wires installation. The vehicle engine is smoking this will be a reoccurring problem. New wires need to be installed that does not attract rodents.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2026

While driving on a surface road in columbia, MD at approximately 40 mph, the dash display of the 2024 Ford lightning flash went completely blank, leaving no indication of vehicle speed, battery percentage, battery temp, motor temp, cruise control status etc. Zero information was displayed, and the dash was completely cold and dark. This failure, while traveling at speed, represents a gross safety hazard, especially because the same lcd displays automatic emergency braking informaion etc. Immediately, I was able to pull over, and establish an obd-2 connection to the ecm, and pull error logs. I also took screenshots of critical components and voltages. I cleared the codes, re-checked for codes and saved another error log showing a couple of codes. I then cycled power to the truck several times, hoping for a reboot to clear the error. I also performed a manual reset of the Ford sync system. Using the obd-2 virtual dash on my reader, I was able to safely display speed and battery data, and drive immediately to the nearest Ford dealer (koons Ford). On the way, I phoned crossroads Ford (apex, nc) who did a remote error check using the vehicle's modem. The dealer may have saved this data. Upon arrival to koons, service writers and technicians were able to witness and verify inoperability of the dash unit, and cycle the vehicle power, whereafter the problem persisted. They then took it back for service and evaluation. After approximately 4 hours, I was told that the "dash reset itself after a couple hours" and they could not get it to repeat the error after it came back. Before this, there were no warning signs of dash failure, nor since.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2026

On 4/22/2026 while flat towing this vehicle behind my motorhome, it burst into flames. The trip began in [xxx] . Driving south on xxx, I stopped about 120 miles later at a rest stop near xxx. I did a complete walk around inspection. There were no issues, everything looked fine. We continued on and about 20 miles later another vehicle driver was telling me frantically to pull over. I looked at my rear camera and saw the Ford was smoking. This was not due to an improper neutral tow setting. The truck would have burned in the first 20 miles. I have towed this vehicle many times. I know the importance of doing it properly. , thankfully there was a good place to pull over. I tried to extinguish the fire with my extinguisher but it was too hot. I was unable to disconnect from the motorhome. Both are a total loss. I think of all the places this could have happened and how trapped we could have been. By the grace of god, nobody was injured. Yes there is a police report and an insurance claim. There were no warning signs. My braking system runs on its own battery so there was no draw on the Ford battery. Ford did an update on the computer the night prior. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2026

Dash said look for safe place to pull over. When turned engine off, it would not start again. Had to wait hours to get it towed to dealership. Been there over 5 weeks and they still don't know what's wrong but suspect hybrid battery problem. Only about 21k miles and 18 mo old. No loaner provided.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2026

Our 2025 Ford F-150 experienced a complete instrument cluster failure immediately following a manufacturer-initiated over-the-air software update. Component/system failure: the instrument cluster/display failed completely. The speedometer, fuel gauge, warning lights, and all critical driving information are inoperable. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: this creates a serious safety hazard because the driver cannot monitor speed, fuel level, or warning indicators, increasing the risk of unsafe operation. Event details: after the update installed overnight, the dashboard display was nonfunctional upon startup. The vehicle was operating normally prior to the update, and the failure occurred immediately afterward with no other issues. Inspection/confirmation: the vehicle was taken to southwest Ford dealership, where the issue was confirmed. We were told it is an electrical problem requiring repair. The dealership also stated another vehicle there had the same issue following an update. Manufacturer response: the vehicle has approximately 46,000 miles and is out of warranty. We were quoted about $1,500 for repair. We opened a case with Ford motor company (case #cch-07666598-q6y1r3), but coverage was denied. Prior warnings: there were no warning lights, messages, or symptoms prior to the failure. We believe this may indicate a defect in the software update system that could affect other vehicles and pose a broader safety risk. We request investigation and appropriate action.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2026

The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his wife was in the process of parking the vehicle on the side of the street, the driver released the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended, jolted forward, and hit one unoccupied and parked vehicle, and hit another occupied vehicle stopped at the stop light. The air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained nerve pain, causing the fingers to become numb, and the driver sustained headaches, back, hips, and shoulder pain. It was unknown whether the other driver sustained injuries. The contact's wife drove to an emergency room after the collision and received medical assistance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to an auto collision repair shop, where it was serviced for the collision damage. An independent mechanic had diagnosed the vehicle with a one-pedal driving system and abs failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the insurance company for assistance. The failure mileage was 13,290.

7 Electrical System problem

The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact received notifications of NHTSA campaign numbers: 25v512000 (power train) and 26v104000 (electrical system, exterior lighting); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The contact had not experienced a failure.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2026

The digital dash cluster will randomly blank out while driving. After it sits for aboutba few hrs parked, it will turn back on just to repeat it down the road again. I tried bring it up with the dealership a few times and I was told they aren't able to replicate the issue and it's within factory spec. This is extremely dangerous since this creates issues of not knowing how fast the vehicle is going, and no indicators of what the truck is doing.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2026

I own a 2024 Ford F-150 lightning platinum built in August 2024. The vehicle has been at the dealership for over 45 days for severe, unresolved electrical safety defects. I have attached photographic proof of the main defects. The first three photos show the driver's instrument display screen behind the steering wheel completely blacking out on startup, blinding critical safety gauges like the speedometer. The center screen stays on, but the main cluster is totally dead. Fourth and fifth photos show the driver's seat memory failure. I manually set my lumbar support to a comfortable 3-4-3 setting and save it, but every time the truck sits, the seat completely deflates to a flat zero default on startup. This causes an immediate driving distraction and ergonomic hazard. The factory navigation also randomly shouts driving directions out of nowhere without any driver input. The dealership is currently trying to install a temporary "bypass wire" hack on my factory harness just to see if it fixes the seat memory. However, Ford's internal hotline (sssc) refuses to authorize repairs for the black screen or phantom navigation until a tech physically catches it glitching on command. Ford’s policy is to return the vehicle unrepaired if it does not fail during active observation. I am requesting NHTSA to investigate Ford's active evasion of safety recall 25v540 (Ford 25s88). The official recall paperwork states the defective supplier software entered production on may 14, 2024. My truck was manufactured in August 2024—squarely within the defective window—yet Ford is using a model-year loophole to exclude 2024 vehicles from the recall population. They are denying owners a permanent factory software remedy and forcing dealers to use unapproved, temporary physical workarounds. The vehicle is at the dealership and available for federal inspection if need be.

10 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2026

2024 Ford F-150 platinum powerboost hybrid. Diagnostic codes for power steering loss and can bus communication faults documented at 337 miles, well within the 3-year/36,000-mile new vehicle warranty. The vehicle has been at a Ford dealer since March 10, 2026 for symptoms including the truck randomly turning off while driving and loss of power steering communication. As of this report, the truck has been at the dealer 58 days without resolution. Documented diagnostic findings include: lost communication with pscm (u0131), scp/j1850 communications bus fault (u1028), permanent code p1a42 propulsion system status signal performance, hybrid-specific high voltage system interlock u3523-00, steering position sensor p060a, no communication with power steering control module, intermittent pcm communication during self-tests, bcmc fuse 69 with no power, and circuit cbb69 with no voltage. A Ford field service engineer was dispatched April 23, 2026. On April 24, 2026 the dealer located damaged wiring inside a harness behind the bcmc bracket. Prior to that, the dealer escalated through r&I of multiple modules (pscm, pcm, bcmc, gateway module access) over 45 days without locating the actual cause. The vehicle is currently subject to NHTSA recall 26v104 / Ford 26c10 (trailer module loss of communication at startup) issued 3/18/2026, status recall incomplete. The recall describes the same general failure mode (module communication loss at startup) the customer has been experiencing. Power steering loss while driving is a serious safety concern, particularly given the vehicle's hybrid drivetrain and can-bus-dependent safety systems.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2026

As I went to reverse to pull out of a parking area, the truck accelerated, I applied the brakes and the truck continued going dragging the front tires at one point. I decided at the last min to attempt to put the truck in neutral or park and at that time it was stopped between two trees. This could of been very bad if my kids were in the yard playing or many other scenarios. The 2024 f150 is still at the dealership waiting on approval to do body work. We have requested they run diagnostics or telemetry on the trucks systems to verify the problem but after a month that has not been done yet.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2026

Instrument cluster has started to flicker when driving. Have had incidents where instrument cluster freezes while driving and a blank black screen when first starting. Whenever the screen freezes or turns black, turning the vehicle off and on again fixes the issue. It seems that the flickering is intermittent. Has recently become more frequent and why I wanted the dealership to take a look. They're now asking for video proof. As soon as I have that I'm going to return to dealership. I'm making this complaint because it seems to be a well-known issue with no fix in most cases. My dealership has contacted Ford engineering and they have asked for video proof.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2026

After operating the vehicle normally and backing into a parking space, I stopped the vehicle and selected park, turned the vehicle off, and exited. Before the driver’s door was closed, the vehicle began to roll forward unexpectedly. I ran back to the vehicle and reentered it to regain control, with the driver’s door still open and the seatbelt not fastened. After stopping the vehicle, I selected reverse, at which point the vehicle surged backward unexpectedly. The open driver’s door struck another vehicle and the driver, and my vehicle continued backward, colliding with a fence and then a tree. The vehicle did not behave as expected after park was selected, creating a serious safety risk to myself and others. Several vehicle systems appeared to malfunction or fail during the incident. The specific component or system responsible is not yet known, and the vehicle is currently available for inspection. The incident resulted in property damage and back pain, for which I later sought medical care. The vehicle has been inspected by a collision repair facility and is currently being handled through insurance. The manufacturer has been informed and stated that insurance should make determinations regarding the incident.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2025

The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the infotainment system screen had turned black after starting the vehicle and was black while driving. The contact stated that the failure had become permanent, preventing the contact from accessing safety functions for the vehicle. The contact confirmed that the rearview camera image was displayed while in reverse(r). The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. An appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2025

The problem is the ipma not working on the passenger camera the back hitch camera and the 360 degree view camera. Ford dealer has no fix for the software solution at this time. Thank you [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2025

Well I went to put my truck in reverse and turn the wheel it shuddered and quit and restarted. This morning I was sitting wnd everything flashed and went off and then come back on. Popped ip service advancetrak.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2025

I purchased this vehicle new 7/31/25. Within the first week of ownership I noticed a noise coming from the rear axle. Brought into Ford dealer for diagnosis at 723 miles: tech notes indicated that the abs tone ring was not manufactured correctly and was hitting the abs wheel speed sensor. The sensor had visible impact marks. The rear axle assembly was replaced under warranty. The repair took over 10 days. At this point I was concerned about the q/c and build quality of the vehicle. I asked Ford for an extended warranty as a goodwill gesture, which was denied. This failure was related to a federally regulated safety system: abs brakes. ~5 months later on 1/8/26 (12, 336 miles), I attempted to place the vehicle in park using column shifter, a service light came on and the truck was not responding to the shifter input. I turned the truck off with the parking brake engaged, restarted truck and another warning light came on saying place vehicle into park. The truck would not start and I was left stranded without warning. The vehicle was towed to the nearest dealer. Diagnosis revealed the shifter module was faulty and needed to be replaced. Ford had a TSB about this issue. The repair took 7 days. At this point I'm extremely concerned about the reliability of this vehicle. This has been two major failures within less than 6 months of ownership. Ford contacted me asking how my experience was with the vehicle. I informed them I was very disappointed and had safety concerns. I asked for an extended warranty which was denied. I then escalated the ticket to asking for a voluntary buyback from Ford. Ford notified me that I didn't meet the criteria for a voluntary buyback and the claim was denied. Due to the repeated failures I do not feel safe continuing to drive this vehicle and I want Ford to step in and assist with this matter.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2025

The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact received notifications of NHTSA campaign number: 25v512000 (power train) and 25v104000 (electrical system, exterior lighting); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The local dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and provided a case number. The contact had not experienced a failure.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2025

Wont shift to park.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2025

Truck console shifter lever was shifted in neutral. The automatic return to park feature was engaged by opening the driver door while the vehicle was stopped. The dash indicates the vehicle was in park but the shifter was stuck in the neutral position. A tow truck was necessary because the shift lever would not return to the park position, and control of the shift lever is necessary in order to use the neutral over ride feature of the truck. Making it difficult for a tow truck to load the vehicle.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2025

17 July 2025- vehicle did not start, instrument cluster blacked out, infotainment screen blacked out. Disconnected/reconnected battery myself everything worked. 21 July 2025- instrument cluster blacked out, disconnected/reconnected battery myself, everything worked, dealership still towed vehicle in to diagnose. Same day dealership said the battery was "a little low" so they put a small charge on it and everything checked out fine. They said when I disconnect/reconnect the battery the codes are reset. So I should hope that the issue does not happen again but if it does, don't disconnect/reconnect the battery. 25 July 2025- instrument cluster blacked out, drove straight to dealership where the service writer witnessed the issue and started a service file. Codes were pulled and in just the four days since it was last in the dealership there were multiple codes recorded (appx 40 over the four days). Diagnosis was a bad instrument cluster/computer module that is attached. It was replaced and vehicle returned 04 August 2025. 05 August 2025- instrument cluster blacked out, drove straight to the dealership, where service writer, service manager, and parts manager all witnessed the same issue. Started another service file. As of the writing of this information, 08 August 2025, the vehicle is still in the shop.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2025

The vehicle has been in the shop two times due to rodents eating the wiring. Wiring insulation is derived from a plant (soy) based oil, which rodents eat. The truck could have had wiring eaten in any number of areas leading to loss of control.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2025

The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the oil change warning light illuminated. The service warning light was reset but the issue became a regular occurrence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the service light needed to be reset each time the light became illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 10,000.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2025

Folding shifter issues with many f150s. Gets stuck in park or drive. Seems to be a rampant issue. Stuck in park is one thing, stuck in drive is extremely dangerous. . . Also causes service lights.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2025

Gear shifter stuck in d with amber light blinking constantly. At the same time, the amber wrench symbol appeared on the dash, with "service vehicle soon" warning message. This indicates a powertrain malfunction/reduced power issue. Vehicle towed to nearest Ford dealer (scenic Ford, mount airy, nc) with about 225 miles on odometer. I purchased this new '24 lightning lariat [xxx] online, and picked it up at sheehy Ford in gaithersburg, MD [xxx], with 47 miles on odometer. The above issues occurred [xxx] as I was driving the vehicle home from maryland to my home in georgia. These problems occurred the same day I drove the new vehicle off the dealer lot. Additionally, the gear shifter has never folded down as its meant to fold down, enabling a flat work surface between the two front seats. This situation was present at sheehy Ford when I picked it up brand new on [xxx]. I have an appointment at my local dealer, akins Ford, winder, GA, may 14, 2025 at 10am to have these issues assessed. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2025

I am submitting a formal safety complaint regarding a known but unresolved software defect affecting the oil life monitoring system in the 2024 Ford F-150 (non-lightning models). Ford has internally acknowledged the issue in technical service bulletin (TSB) 25-2331, dated July 18, 2025, but has not issued a recall or public notification to affected owners. Summary of the defect: the vehicle's instrument panel cluster (ipc) reduces the reported oil life to 0% in less than 1,000 miles, even under normal driving conditions. Ford attributes this to flawed software logic in the ipc module. The oil life monitor is a critical engine maintenance indicator relied upon by vehicle owners to prevent premature wear or catastrophic engine failure. Faulty or misleading oil diagnostics can result drivers disregarding future oil life warnings, assuming they are incorrect operators running engines with degraded oil beyond safe limits loss of trust in onboard diagnostics, affecting broader vehicle safety behavior avoidable mechanical damage, particularly for owners following the vehicle’s built-in guidance Ford’s TSB instructs dealers to reprogram several modules, including the ipc, apim, bcm, gwm, and tcu, but only if a customer complains. There is no recall, no public campaign, and no direct owner communication. This leaves potentially thousands of vehicles on the road with faulty maintenance guidance—and owners unaware of it. Why this warrants recall action: this is not a cosmetic or comfort issue. It is a misrepresentation of core engine health diagnostics that, if followed blindly (as owners are instructed to), could cause premature engine wear or failure. The behavior directly undermines the purpose of onboard diagnostics and scheduled maintenance. I urge the NHTSA to investigate TSB 25-2331 and consider elevating this matter to a formal safety recall, or at minimum, compel Ford to issue a customer service campaign notifying all potentially affected owners.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2025

See attached document for complaint.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2025

Dashboard is occasionally black when the truck is started. The gauges don't work, and an alarm starts ringing. After a short while the gauges start to appear on the screen one at a time. This has happened several times in the few months that I've owned this truck. I see that a recall has been issued for the 2025 and 2026 model f150's but it is also happening in my 2024 f150 that I bought new in February 2025.

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2025

While driving, the instrument cluster will shut off and turn back on. 1 time while using Ford blue cruise feature, when the instrument screen shut off, the truck lost communication swerved into the other lane. I have had the instrument cluster screen replaced 3 time and it would randomly turn off/on while driving.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2025

In efforts to fix my vehicle for engine engineers have reset the odometer on my vehicle by over 1000 miles breaking federal law. They do not know how or why it happened and are not providing any explanations or follow ups.

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2025

Instrument cluster went dark and doesnt work.

34 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2025

The component that is malfunctioning is the lcd dash screen that contains all of the dash indicators (speed, rpm, gear indicator, etc. ). The issue is that without warning, different colored lines flash across the screen. It is distracting and I am quite worried that if the screen goes out, I will not know how fast I am going, and I won't be able to see any of the dash indicators related to the system status. It is getting worse every day that I have the vehicle, and now the whole screen is flickering. I purchased the vehicle approximately 3 days ago and the issue has recurred every single day and I have taken a video every time it occurs (as of this report I have 7 videos). The vehicle has not been confirmed by the dealer or others because the dealer will not let me bring it in until their next available appointment on 3 March 2025. There are no warning lamps or messages that come up. Typically the symptoms appear after the vehicle is fully warmed up, or if the heater has been running for a while.

35 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2025

While driving, the screen in front of the driver (dash) which displays information such as speed, transmission gear, parking brake, and other important information, will flicker and/or be distorted. This results in driver distraction and may prevent the driver from seeing safety-related information such as vehicle speed while operating the vehicle. The issue is intermittent, but typically resets when the vehicle is powered off and back on.
