Conventional Parking Brake problems of the 1999 Ford F-250

Two problems related to conventional parking brake have been reported for the 1999 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Conventional Parking Brake problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2007

The contact's client owns a 1999 Ford F-250 sd. The contact, who is a mechanic, stated that the emergency brake lever would not engage. As a result, the vehicle would not brake at all. He was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 02v068000 (parking brake:conventional:mechanical:linkage and cable), even though the symptoms were identical. The failure mileage and purchase date were unknown. The current mileage was 130,000.

2 Conventional Parking Brake problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2000

1. The parking brake does not disengage after it is engaged. 2. The engine leaks oil between the engine block and the head on the passengers side just above the starter. The engine was replaced after going back the second time for the same problem.
