1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2009

Purchased a 1999 Ford f250 super duty February,2009. In September 2009, received a letter from Ford informing of a recall to the speed control (05s28). On October 6,2009, took the truck to nearest Ford dealer which had performed the necessary part to prevent the truck from igniting a fire. On October 17,2009 while the truck was parked in our driveway, it caught fire. We learned from a neighbor: they pulled in their house and seen smoke coming from the truck under the hood. They ran over and grabbed the water hose and tried to open the door, it was locked. They called the local fire dept. And the fire started. The truck's engine started up, the headlights came on and the wipers started going back and forth. My neighbor looked in the window and seen there was no keys in the ignition. The firemen arrived and force and forced the hood up and put out the fire. It was a total loss. We contacted the local dealership where the recalled part was replaced and told us to contact Ford motor company. We did, they sent us a letter of needed information from us. When submitted all information and in December 2009 got a reply they were unable to associate with us on our damage.

Failure Date: 02/10/2009

Truck caught fire in the middle of the night while parked in the driveway.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2008

I received a notice of a safety recall for my Ford vehicle, but the nearest Ford dealer is 15-miles away. I resent having to pay for the gas to drive there and then wait while they fix the speed control.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2007

The contact owns 1999 Ford f250 super duty. While driving 25 mph on a clear day the contact suddenly lost control of the vehicle's acceleration speed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who stated that the electronic sensor that controlled acceleration had no link to the accelerator pedal. Therefore, when the sensor failed, it needed to be replaced. This failure has occurred three times. Update 05/10/tr.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/08/1999

While sitting in traffic with both feet on the brakes, vehicle accelerated at full throttle, causing the consumer to rear end vehicle in front.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/15/1998

10/11/98 appox 1100 mi - truck surged when brake pedal was pressed. This was second time. 10/13/98 1180 mi - 3rd occurrence - same but greater surge requiring excessive pressure to avoid hitting car at intersection. Morning - engine cold. Distance from start (home driveway) to intersection appox. 200 yards. 10/15/98 1308 mi - 4th occurrence - left parking space after work (3:30 pm) and traveled 100 feet and applied brake to make left turn. Engine surged requiring all my power to avoid crashing into side of parked van with passenger inside. 10/21/98 1358 mi - left at northport Ford - company could not detect any problem and still has the truck (as of 10/27/98). I fear that the increasingly powerful accelerations when the brake is applied will result in an unavoidable accident and am leaving the vehicle at the dealer until the problem is identified and fixed. Ford is trying inflight detector.
