Cruise Control problems of the 2006 Ford F-250

Two problems related to cruise control have been reported for the 2006 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2009

The cruise control will not disengage at times when hitting the brake, causing the vehicle to continue to accelerate when a stop or slow down is required. I reported this to the dealer at approx 38,000 miles and was informed it was not are call defect. I know this has been an issue on earlier Ford trucks. This is a repetitive issue.

2 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2007

The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-250. While driving approximately 55 mph, the contact noticed that all of the instrument panel lights illuminated and then dimmed. Seconds later, smoke appeared. She pulled the vehicle off the road and it caught fire. The vehicle was completely destroyed. A fire report was filed. She notified the dealer and manufacturer, but they would not provide any assistance because her vehicle was not included in the vehicle speed control:cruise control recall. The recall number was unavailable. The current and failure mileages were 26,000.
