Diesel Engine problems of the 2007 Ford F-250

Four problems related to diesel engine have been reported for the 2007 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Diesel Engine problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2008

After about 28,000-30,000 the truck would severely buck/jerk/hop when towing a load. The problem occurs in third gear most commonly. Upon acceleration up a hill, the truck has an extreme buck. The rpms raise and lower up to 400 rpm. Ford has determined this action to be normal. The only way I have fond to stop this, is to let all the way off the accelerator, and then try again. The truck will then start this again, in which I have to let off. On a safety concern, this occurs on most entrance ramps to interstates, which makes for a hazardous condition trying to merge into traffic, because basically Ford is telling me not to try to accelerate past second gear until I am no longer headed uphill. Fords first suggestion was the trailer type, which had no effect (TSB 07-6-09), which only concerned gooseneck trailers. The truck also does this action with a bumper pull trailer. I have taken the truck in 11 times since July 2007, and the service men tell me they can feel it, there is a problem, but no one knows what it is. Ford then came to the result this was normal for that truck. At 8000 miles, the truck had a bad injector, after replacing this, the dealership "updated the computer. " since that time the truck has not had as much power as when I purchased it. The serviceman told me sometimes these updates will change the output of the truck, or decrease the power. The truck now has a leak in the rearend, which I believe to be a result of the bucking and jerking Ford is calling normal.

2 Diesel Engine problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2007

The vehicle lacks acceleration from a standing stop, when you try to merge into traffic the vehicle hesitates and will not move for a 2 to 3 second span causing vehicles on the highway to close on the vehicle. On two occasions I had to swerve off the road to avoid a collision.

3 Diesel Engine problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2007

The truck I am paying over $50,000 for has left me stranded and has been towed 3 times in the last month. Purchased end of Jan. '07, has 30,000 miles with a diesel engine. I am afraid to take this truck back on the road and Ford says all they are obligated to do is repair the truck. This is the 4th attempt.

4 Diesel Engine problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2006

Ever since we purchased our 2007 Ford f250, (which was delivered new in sept. 2006), the throttle has failed to return properly. There are intermittent delays of up to 10 seconds before the engine will return to idle after releasing the throttle pedal when driving the vehicle. We have taken the truck back to the dealer or called the dealer eight or more times complaining about the problem since delivery. To date, the problem is not fixed.
