The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. After a visual inspection of the engine compartment, the contact observed the oil dipstick indicated that the engine was overfilled with oil. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the high-pressure fuel pump causing diesel fuel to leak into the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the engine had previously been replaced at 288,000 miles. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 307,000.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250 sd. While driving approximately 60 mph the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was told the failure involved the fuel pressure sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. Tank full of diesel fuel contaminated with water and some debris. Ford will not warranty but several parts of the fuel system developing rust. This vehicle is equipped with a fuel water separator as standard equipment. So Ford has equipped the truck with a fuel water separator but several of the parts in the fuel system are very subject to rust if there is any exposure to water. So as soon as the vehicle is exposed to water in the fuel there are parts that will fail and are not covered by warranty.
