3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2022

At 122,000 miles the vehicle no has begun to have the "death wobble. " extreme shaking at 40mph+. Ford has no recall for this issue. My local dealer/service center is charging full price to remedy the issue. However, the exact repair is unclear to them (e. G. Steering dampener, shocks, u-joints, ???, etc). I suspect this will become a "throw parts at it" strategy and very expensive. Ford should back this issue up, based on so many reports of occurrences online from owners.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2022

The frame rails that hold and support the bed/box rotted prematurely. Box could fly off while driving and cause accident.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2022

When traveling on the interstate at aprox. 70-75 mph the steering wheel began to violently shake to the point that I was worried if I could keep control of the truck. Fortunately there was no one behind me as I had to slam on my brakes and slow to 40 mph before the shaking stopped. I was able to make it home without this occuring again.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2021

I traveled less than a quarter mile down the road and the truck started knocking I turned back towards my house & I was only traveling around 5 miles an hour then I heard a loud pop no warning lights came on or even an alarm sounding before this happened after the loud pop the truck immediately locked up and started pouring dark smoke from the engine compartment I jumped out of the truck & ran for cover thinking it was going to burst into flames the truck has 125000 miles on it roughly the truck is available for inspection from anyone who is interested in finding out what caused what could be a very hazardous potentially deadly occurrence happening to anyone else in a different setting on a freeway or highway in a high traffic area it definitely would have been a very different situation I live in a tiny town out in the sticks as. I also mentioned I was literally less than 1000 ft from where I live.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2021

My Ford F-250 starts shaking very very bad when I hit a small bump on the freeway. To get the very scary wobble to stop I need to slow down on the freeway between 20-30 miles per hour. This has happened over 50 times. I've had it happen 3 times within ten miles before. Slowing down to 20-30 on the freeway has been very dangerous. And I have almost been in a few accidents because of it. It is so bad and dangerous that I try not to ever have anyone ride in my truck with me. My family is scared to ride it it anyways.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2020

Death wobble, shaking uncontrollably when hitting bumps or uneven roads on highway at 65mph.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2020

I have had two incidents of windows exploding on me out of nowhere. The first incident happened on 2/21/20 near cedarvale, nm. Then, just yesterday(8/9/20), I was sitting at a picnic area alongside the same road(rt 247) and within 10 miles of where the other occurence took place, and my back rear window of my truck just exploded out of nowhere again. The first incident happened when I was driving along the highway at around 65 mph, and the most recent incident happened when the vehicle was parked.

Shortly after purchasing the truck, was driving on residential street @ a low speed & front end started shaking uncomtrollable, after running over a man hole cover had to fully stop fully, shortly after I was getting on an expresssssy & ran over small chug hole and it started again, took to my mechanic who installed a heavy duty stabilizer bar, new shocks a new camber kit & 2 allignments, still does the same thing, hoping Ford has the answer for repairs, would love to be able to pull our RV with the grandkids & wife.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2020

Vehicle in motion at 60 to 65 mph on smooth public city highway when the vehicle began shaking uncontrollably particularly in the front end. Steering became difficult to control and although I immediately began to brake and attempt to keep it from the median or ditch the vehicle didn't cease the uncontrollable shaking until I came to a near stop off the edge of the highway. It continues to feel as if it were about to occur any moment again the remaining 20 miles to my home. I intend on taking it to the Ford dealership first thing in the morning as if was a dangerous situation to myself and wife as well as other drivers on the highway. Purchased vehicle less than 5 months ago.

12 Equipment problem

Death wobble! dealership has replaced ball joint, bushing, new tires, some connecting rod still happens!!! this is going to kill me or somebody!!! it happens at 70 mph and above. This is all over the internet Ford knows about it; they just haven't fixed it.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

Death wobble, vehicle begin to shake uncontrollably until slowed down, on highway.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2019

The vehicle has an excessive wobble also known as the death wobble when you hit any slight imperfections in the road or sometimes on newer paved roads. The vehicle goes into a sudden loss of control state and you must slow down to 20 mph before you can recover the loss of control. The vehicle has been returned to Ford and I have spent over $2400. 00 replacing front end parts and tires with slight improvements. The death wobble is still occurring and is highly dangerous while driving especially on the interstate or heavy traffic at higher speeds in excess of 35 mph.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2018

Started my f1 50 with the remote control when I put it in reverse the back glass shattered this is the second time this is happened that it cost me $500 deductible each time.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2018

I would like to know why Ford has not recalled the plastic oil pan due to seal failure and returning back to steel pan on newer models. This a continuing problem noted on numerous internet posts. My 2011 Ford F-250 lariat 4x4 is leaking oil and now has to be replaced, costing a lot of money for labor and oil replacement which should not be necessary for a vehicle with only 135,000 miles drive time.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

Pulling my fifth wheel trailer up a hill at 50mph the engine just shut down very abruptly. No alarms or lights that I saw. After letting it sit for a minute or so, put it in park and it restarted, oil temp at 240, trans: temp at 201. First time this has happened. A little over 50,000 miles.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2014

Catastrophic engine failure at 3 years old and 124,000 miles. This $60,000 2011 Ford F-250 super duty with 6. 7 diesel engine is totaled. Driving down the road at normal cruise the engine started making a terrible banging noise and shuddering so violently that I was forced to immediately leave the road. I stopped and turned the engine off. Got out and the ground was covered in oil. Stranded. . Dealership quoted me $24,233. 67 to replace the engine. Although this engine is falsely advertised to be rigidly tested for 250,000 miles, Ford has sent email stating that they will not stand behind the product. This truck is still financed and quite frankly I cannot afford and should not have to afford this repair. I have had exhaust issues with overheating and burning sensors which were replaced by warranty a couple times and out of pocket a couple times. I have read many reviews that the heat that is built up during a regen exhaust cleaning cycle damages the valves within the engine. I also read that Ford fixed this problem in 2012 but that leaves people like myself, who paid Ford $60,000+ stranded without a vehicle in just 3 short years. I have service the truck as required and have never abused it nor put it in mud, etc. Please look into this and see if there is anything I can do. It appears I may be without a vehicle and have to default on my lender with the cost of this.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2014

Vehicle primary cooling system (radiator) began leaking where the aluminum coils are attached to the plastic tank. I took vehicle to Ford dealer for inspection and they verified. Leak was slow for first couple of weeks, then progressed. Replacement was inserted before radiator leak could cause further damage to vehicle or persons. This is a very common occurrence with this year/model and owners feel this should be addressed with a recall from Ford motor company due to inadequate testing or product specifications. The public rate of occurrence is very high. Of course fomoco will not publish data until forced. Reports of radiators failing < 50,000 miles is not uncommon.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2014

Hit rough patch on highway and truck started shaking violently. Had to slow to about 25 mph before it stopped. This has happened twice in the last 6 months. The Ford service department said they could find no issues with the truck. No parts were replaced or adjusted.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2012

My truck is a 2011 Ford F-250 sd dielsel. Death wobble. The first time I was traveling on a street and hit a bump at about 45 mph. The front end started to shimmy to the point I had to slow almost to a stop to gain control. This has happened at leat 5 more time on the highway at speeds of 60 mph, I had to slow to at least 25-30 mph to gain control of the truck while other vehicles are still traveling at the posted highway speed. I have changed the steering stabalizer, all four shocks and had the tires rotated and balanced. I have had two mechanics look at the front end. They both have said the front end is tight and has no prblems that they can see. My truck only has 41000 miles on it to date.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2011

At 55 mph, if you hit a bump in the road the front end shakes, jumps accross the road. Very difficult to handle. You have to slow down. This needs to be looked at. We had the vehicle at Ford several time and they found nothing!.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2010

Driving east bound on the 91 freeway in the diamond lane I drove over a roadway imperfection. As soon as I hit it with my left front tire the vehicle made a violent motion to the left almost causing me to strike the center divider. This happened several other times before I returned the vehicle to the dealer to have it checked (12/16/2010). By this time, striking an imperfection with either front tire caused the vehicle to move laterally, left or right. After several visits to the Ford dealer without remedy, a Ford engineer was summoned for a test drive. We drove the vehicle to a spot I consistently have the problem and it violently pulled to the left when the front left tire hit the spot (transition road: 405 freeway to the northbound 710 freeway). Both the engineer and the service manager were in the vehicle at that time and both felt what I was complaining about. Later that same day I was looking at a Ford fusion with my son and the Ford engineer drove into the lot in a new Ford super duty 4x4 that he had driven to that same location. He told me and my son that the new vehicle did the same thing and he would report back to Ford so that they could do something about it. I was later contacted by the Ford manager and told that my problem was within Fords tolerance for the vehicle. He also told me I could probably go over to the four wheel drive parts store and purchase something that might help with the problem. I continue to have this problem but it appears to be getting worse. Even my friends who drive with me complain about this issue telling me I need to do something about it. This past week I contacted Ford again via their fix-it hot line and spoke with one of their representatives who looked into my complaint (he spoke with the Ford manager and Ford engineer). Today he advised me the problem was normal for the vehicle. Anyone else complaining?.
